Hi everyone,
This is my first post so I hope it's in the appropriate area.
"The Rains of Castamere" is such a mesmerizing song wether it's The National's version or the others on youtube that GRRM "owes" it to us to write an even better Stark song!
Here's hoping to one in the upcoming book.
Cheers!
Now we really need a great Stark song!

The Rains of Castamere isn't exactly a Lannister song. It's a kind of song about Tywin, telling not to mess with him. Well, at least that's what I think...

They thought him a child
While all of the while
He went to the forest with men
To save his girl kin
He knew he must win
And fight for his hill and his glen
And though we must say
Our king was betrayed
And murdered by those he called friends
The North can be sure
That we will once more
Rise for our freedom again
SCOTLAND The North!
While all of the while
He went to the forest with men
To save his girl kin
He knew he must win
And fight for his hill and his glen
And though we must say
Our king was betrayed
And murdered by those he called friends
The North can be sure
That we will once more
Rise for our freedom again

Seems like our dear Northern friends are a bit jealous and wants to go copycat.
To write a good song you'll need to do alot of work but I would perhaps make another choice than the Red Wedding as a basis. I would probably pick the Whispering Woods and the Battle of the Camps for the song to be about.

What about the traditional 'Molly Mallone' ?
Molly Malone
(traditional)
In Dublin's Fair City, where the girls are so pretty
I first set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone
As she wheeled her wheelbarrow through streets broad and narrow
Crying: "cockles and mussels alive, alive-o"
Chorus:
Alive, alive-o, alive, alive-o
Crying: "Cockles and mussels alive, alive-o"
She was a fishmonger, but shure 't was no wonder
For so were her mother an father before
They wheeled their wheelbarrow through streets broad and narrow
Crying: "Cockles and mussels alive, alive-o"
Chorus
She died of a fever and no one could save her
And that was the end of sweet Molly Malone
Now her ghost wheels her barrow through streets broad and narrow
Crying: ''Cockles and mussels alive, alive-o"
Chorus

Doesn't that sound familiar?

Wait till after the series is over. You will probably have some stuff to work with by then.
