Something thats always bugged me-how exactly is Jamie captured in the Whispering Woods?

I know Robbs forces surprised them etc but its during the actual battle that has me wondering. The only account we have is that Jamie went straight for Robb when he realised the battle was lost and cut down several of Robbs bannermen and that Theon was close by to him (which might have been just Theon exaggerating his own deeds)

I always imagined he was dragged down by sheer weight of numbers as nobody gets the credit for defeating him in combat. While certainly not undefeatable (he is unhorsed several times in jousts and in one ends up looking like a complete fool when his helm gets stuck on his head) I would imagine anyone that defeats the Kingslayer in combat while in a battle would boast about it afterwards?

Any other theories/ideas?

IIRC when Jaime killed one of the Karstark sons his sword got stuck in the body. Disarmed and by then probably on his own, it would be relatively easy to overpower him and take him prisoner. If it was done by a mob of people, it is quite likely that none of them demonstrated enough heroism for it to be particularly remembered afterards.

Aha totally missed the bit about his sword getting stuck in the body-much easier to visualize it now, many thanks.

It's aluded to in the comment he makes about "misplacing his sword", in fact in one of Karstark's sons bodies, when brought to Cat.
