Poor Arys Oakheart

Kyle Baratheon

He got his conscience in a knot by breaking his vows while in holiday-mode in Dorne, then committed suicide by Norvoshi. I don't think the poor idiot was just about protecting Myrcella when he charged.

(Having just finished the book, I wonder if news of the death of one of the KG will get to KL in time to be of use to Cersei?)

Arys was a fool. He was sworn shield to Myrcella, but still went off charging down the gangplank totoally outnumbered. Not even the king guard has decent fights anymore. I hope we get Ser Barristan back in Westeros so he can kick some kettle back ass and become Lord Commander again..........

Oops I forgot....... That's definetly not how GRRM writes his stories. Oh well wishful thinking.

Arys' actions were pretty...dumb. We don't know the exact reason he charged down there, but it seems like he just wanted his life of conflicting emotions to end.

Btw, please avoid posting spoilers in topic titles, thank you.

Also, I anticipate Jaime killing the kettleblack's.

I felt badly for him, but he should have known a gorgeous princess wasn't interested him personally...he should have caught on to the hidden agenda. He seemed pretty naive.

i think she probably fell for him a little at the end.even at the beginning besides her plan she was probably with him for the pleasure as well.

as for the crying it is the guilt for sure becuz she cared about him but it could be bcuz of her feeling for him as well since GRRM loves to make it tragic ( and its a good thing since i like to think that she loved him at the end as well )

Arys got what was coming to him (he was so dimwitted), but I feel bad for Arianne! She used the poor knight, but I still think she genuinely loved him.

I like reading the ASOIAF books to my girlfriend, and of course she loved the Arys-Arianne bedroom scenes, which appealed to the romance novel fan in her. :-)

Yeah Ser Arys probably did it out of guilt for failing in his vows. I liked him though. He was one of the few KG who didn't wail on Sansa whenever Joffrey said so. Man, the KH really sucks now. Jamie's the only good one left, otherwise it's a bunch of losers like Ser, Boros, Ser Meryn, & the Kettlebacks, Hope Jamie shapes it up.

I anticipate Jaime killing them all/having them killed and putting together a truly respectable King's Guard once again.

First of all, "Pussywhipped" is a pretty destructive gender bias term.

Secondly, Arys was kind of a moron. He's the first POV where I got the impression while reading his chapter(s) that he wasn't...you know...smart. You know how sometimes you talk to someone and you get the impression that, while a completely competent person, they just aren't that intellectual? That's Arys.

All of us men are naive when you throw a naked young Salma Hayek look a like in our faces . . we all go the way of Aerys Oakheart . . I mourned his death and was ticked off at the result.
