What about Hugh Laurie? He has hung up his white coat and walking cane as HOUSE, and he is British. I can see him playing Aurane Waters with those blue eyes of his. :)

Or maybe Qyburn, or even, Mance Rayder?

I think Hugh could be a good addition to GoT. But, what do you think?

Can't see a role he'd be particulalry suited to tbh. Maybe I know him to well as himself of from Jeeves and Woucster and Blackadder though. He showed he's got range in House though. Doubt this'll happen.

Qyburn would be funny, he suits the role of a mad scientist but Qyburn is to passive for Laurie, Marwy would be a possibility too but we see to less of him to know for sure.

Aurane Waters is what, 20 years old? No, not for Waters.

If I'm not mistaken his current priority is film work, not television.
He is also among the highest paid television actors - far beyond the HBO budget
He is Hugh Laurie. There is no character (off the top of my head) large enough for a star like him.

I want him to be a cast member as much as the next person, but realistically its not possible.

Laurie has Mance Rayder written all over him, in that he is capable of conveying both menace and humor at the exact same time.

Or, they could play up the "humor" aspect of the role, and go with Craig Ferguson.  /not.

Oooooh. . . .there's a thought.  The Blackfish always struck me as very cynical.  And HL would be fine, he's one of the older characters and they've all been aged up anyway.

I would very much like to see Hugh Laurie in his capacity as Prince George playing Hizdahr zo Loraq (or however you spell that name) :D

I think he could pull off Mance but I don't know how likely he would be to sign on for another TV production, even if it is HBO and something which has garnered critical praise like GoT.

Qyburn is all I can see, but he's typecast for American audiences right now.

I could see Hugh Laurie as Rodrik (The Reader) Harlaw. Not a very droll character for Mr. Laurie, I must say, but I could see it nonetheless.

He'd be good as Qyburn, chatty, amiable... With a dark sinister side as big as a whale. I think Hugh'd like the challenge.
