I think the answer to this topic is pretty simple, because he actually wanted to get her out of danger.

Even though Yoren is a sworn brother and a bit rough around the edges, he still has a moral compass...plain and simple. Taking Arya back to Winterfell is the right thing to do.

Previous posters have hit the nail on the head, Benjen is Yoren's brother and by extension, so is Ned.

The whole neutral thing is where it gets complicated, but is taking a girl home really choosing sides or just doing the right thing?
