That was a lame retort that reeks of internet addiction.  I don't mind that the topic of the thread has "drifted"--it's that it's drifted toward hackneyed and preachy ethical/political posturing about a position that 99% of all civilized non-U.S. people agree with.

If the topic had drifted toward something INTERESTING--say, such as why grapeseed oil is superior to canola, you would have no complaints from me.

It's funny to me because this is about the third time that you've mentioned thread drift for this particular thread and how it's not going exactly as you want it. If you want to direct the discussion ask the mods to step in or start an LJ.

it's also amusing to me that I've got an Internet addiction for posting on the same board you are.

Grapeseed oil is better than canola because canola tastes like crap.  Better yet, try Kalamata olive oil.

Canola is crap.  So are heavily processed oils like "corn oil" and anything labeled "vegetable oil" in this country.  If you think justice system in the United States is jacked up, you people should check out what passes for food here.  It costs an arm and a leg to get decent ingredients.

You mention olive oil, of which I'm a huge proponent. It's delicious and is basically a wonder drug that will improve your diet and make you live longer, but it's not a substitute for canola oil because it is too flavorful and fragrant and has a lower smoking point.

Some recipes and certain types of cooking require a netural cooking or salad oil, and for this grapeseed oil is perfect!  I think "rapeseed" oil is good too, but I can't remember.

Peanut oil is also nice, but is slightly less netural tasting.

Preach on, brother! Noobs of the board unite!

This type of thing could be avoided had someone followed through on the New Boarder Mentoring Program. That way, the people who flogged R+L=J for 3,000 posts could show the noobs how to behave like civilized people.

When has it become a reason for pride to have > 6000 posts on some internet fantasy board? Your arrogance would be disgusting if it were not so utterly ridiculous.

You do realise it's been collected over a rather long time, yes?

Or no, actually you probably don't so I am just going to get the popcorn and get seated.

PS: Complaining about post count on an internet forum you yourself are posting on = shooting oneself in the foot. But don't let that stop you!

What?!?!?!?  Fried food is bad for you!  Oops, thread drift.  Relax.  Pretentious people are more imaginative than you think.  When you start a thread that is in throwing distance of a hot-button issue, the inevitable will happen.  It was only a matter of time before someone called humane execution an oxymoron and made the thread political.  From there, it was inevitable that those who disagree (I'm guilty, as charged) jumped in to prevent those views going unchallenged.  But, look at the bright side.  There are still posts being made that adhere to your purpose.  The stuff you don't like, keeps the thread where people can see it and post to it.

Hi Lyanna; I never find your posts "boring"  so I certainly wasn't referring to you.

However... while I personally never attack people for having high post counts (unless they're total douches and it fits my verbally absuive purposes), it's not exactly hypocritical (though it is somewhat impolite) for someone with a modest post count to posit that someone with an extremely high post count "spends too much time" on the board or has "no life".  Again, I stay away from personal attacks like that most of the time because they're mean, not because they're not valid.

On the flip side of the coin, for someone with a huge post count (who has very little of insight to add to the discussion, mind you) to attack someone with a few hundred posts as a "noob" (especially a witty, Tyrion-esque sage such as myself) is patently ridiculous (in the literal sense of opening oneself up to easy ridicule).

the most painless way to put someone to death?

cardiac arrest, secondary to inordinately vigorous fucking by a reasonably attractive lover.

It's not an attack, it's a descriptor:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newbie

It's also not an indicator of post count, but of duration.

Anywho...I find the idea of being executed by a guillotine to be far worse than a firing squad.  You're face down, so you don't know when it is going to happen?  I find that more terrifying than many of the other options out there.

There's something important about the smoking point in grapeseed oil that escapes me at the moment. I'd look it up on Google, but can't because noob.

Anyway, it sounds snobbish to point out someone's noobishness while admonishing them.

Šedý vlk2375,

I think you can hear when the blade is released, but the possibility that you might be conscious for a few seconds after your head and body part ways, is a bit disconcerting.

KP,

I am only assuming that I am one of the "boring" people Who has not decided to follow your arbitrary rules in discussing killing people humanely. It must be incredibly hard for you to be so intelligent, with a Tyrion like wit and a full grasp on social commentary to have to put up with lowly people like me and the myriad of other bumbling fools who would dare challenge your ideas. You have obviously led us into the important discussion of how to kill people cleanly, and we are all just short sighted as to not see your radiant brilliance.

or...

You brought up a douche bag topic that is both culturally relevant and the premise of your ideas have been challenged, You are now whining to no end to get back to discussing death porn, while people over and over again tell you that there may be consequences behind your discussion they would like to address. Instead of adding anything usefull to the discussion, you thrill yourself with being blatantly dismisive of anyone that may hold ideas in contrast to yours

You seem to miss that SC has started to value people according to their post count, not I.
