Is it too obvious that Jamie... [SPOILERS]

will kill Cercei?

Think about it, that prophetess said that she will be killed by her younger brother so we're all supposed to think Tyrion but isn't Jamie younger by a minute or two?

Thus, HE will be the one to strangle Cercei and NOT Tyrion.

Is it too obvious or am I clearly wrong?

The idea had crossed my mind, but indeed, I somehow think it would be a bit too obvious. I think the weird prophecy (if it even is reliable in this aspect) might refer to something completely different and obscure. (No idea what, though.)

I can imagine Jaime killing Cersei either for the reasons stated above, or for some completely random reason - maybe some sort of "accident" (in a sudden fit of anger, for instance; e.g. they are sitting and dining, talking, then she says something really mean, he gets angry up to the point that he hits her, he actually hits her with his golden hand without realising how much more strength that one does, and kills her. Okay, that sounds stupid, but you get the point).

How had I never thought about this? I'm not sure that it would happen, but I wouldn't be upset about it if it did. Jaime's hate toward Cersei seems to grow a little more and more as time goes on. Although, part of me thinks that his anger toward her is partially due to him being upset at himself for not seeing her for what she was sooner, for allowing himself to be used as a pawn and be played. I don't know, maybe it's just me...

When Jamie said to burn that plea for help could basically being Cersi being killed by her little Brother because he didn't come save her and left her to die in the hands of the Sparrows or the Tyrells.

I had the same idea, mayhaps his lack of action, or chosen path might kill her. Might be he would protect the honor of his sons wife during the trial of combat instead of Cersei's, and that will be the day when his left hand proves as good as his right hand? It seems highly un probable that Tyrion would or could kill her... Unless he and Bronn do it together, it is also a possibility.

Yeah, I'm along the same lines as the last two posters here. Cersei might be hung or something (strangled) and she will view it as happening because of Jaime's lack of action (as he could almost certainly beat anyone in trial by combat if he cared to).

*EDIT* Gahh momentarily forgot about the missing hand. Jaime wouldn't be a great champion to choose at this particular time.

You do forget, though

He has been practicing every night with Payne... And as of lately he only gets "killed" twice per night... He is getting better, and will continue to do so until he reaches Kings Landing.

True, he wouldn't be too bad. He might get to where he was before he lost his hand. I don't think he yet has the status he had before, when as he says there were maybe 3 men in Westeros who could defeat him in a swordfight. (I know he could have just been boasting but I think he was right.)

Nothing is too obvious in ASOIAF. Just when you think something is too obvious, something else happens.

Although I would completely welcome Jaime killing Cersei.

Too true! I've been shocked over and over in these books.

I'm rooting on Jamie too in this regard.

We know that Robert Strong is big and strong, but IIRC there is little evidence of how skilled at arms he is. For that matter, it is not clear that he is even capable of independent decision. Maybe he will turn out to be a dumb brute or at least a slow one. Jaime might end up defeating him. Or if not Jaime, Meryn Trant would be the logical choice.

At this point it could be anyone. But the fact that Cercei has been having the same reoccuring dream could also be a way of showing us that her time in Westeros is running down to its last min.

ugggh don't know how to properly use the spoiler code so I will remove it for now.

Same thing cross my mind. But I'm still expecting one of the brothers (or, less likely, Tommen as Joff/Myrcella's younger brother) to be the one who directly ends her life. Although perhaps not how we imagine (maybe Cersei will be driven insane/near death locked away for so long and one of her kin ends her in pity?)

For me, when Jamie threw the letter in the fire, it was almost as if it was the culmination of how much he hated Cersei. Like was finally saying; "screw that bitch."

He could just kill her out of spite, like Tyrion did to Tywin. It would be the ultimate irony: the Lannisters fuck everyone over with trecheary, deceit, and lies, and end up destroying themselves the same way. I think GRRM agrees with me on that one: what better way to end the Lannisters?
