If ASoIaF was set in Finland every noble house would be fighting over who's the most tolerant and culturally "enriched" (fellow Europeans will know what I mean) and purging the realm of all political opponents after accusing them of hate-speech and intolerance until the whole kingdom is in ruins. Pretty much the same outcome as in the real ASoIaF books, I guess.

As a Londoner, if ASOIAF was based where I live, it'd be called "The war of the Roses".

And The Hundred Years War.

And the Targ...er...Norman Invasion.

And the Iron Flee...err...Viking Invasion.

And the Andal....erm...Saxon Invasion.

And the Roman Colonization.

My favorite period is after the Saxons invaded and made the Heptarchy.  It's like I'm really reading ASOIAF when I read history about the Heptarchy!  Seven Kingdoms, except, not really, of course.

Northumbria is the Starks, East Anglia are the Baratheons, Wessex are the Lannisters.  There's even the funny Ae-name kings!  Aethelred The Unready, Aelfgar, Aethelbald...just like ASOIAF's Aegon, Aerys, and suchlike.

I am so gonna ride around Britain on Horseback, in Plate Armor, and try to fall down on some sand at a seashore, then bounce up shouting, "Look, I have England in my hands already!"

And then get arrested by like fifteen burly goldcloaks...I mean, police officers.

It's always been easy for me in the UK except we don't have so many wild animals.

North of the wall = Scotland
The wall = Hadrian's Wall.
The north = Anything north of Sheffield
The kings road = M1
Winterfel = York
Kings landing = London
Oldtown = Bristol
Little Finger = George Osborne

Sadly this has a problem in that it puts Nottingham/Derby right where the twins would be which makes me a Frey :crying:

Aw, don't feel bad!  At least you're legitimately in the ASOIAF canon.

Love it, @the scum.

If we're using North England as the North can I claim Leeds as Winterfell? (I'm not brilliant with geography, but I think that works. They're both fairly central in the North, right? I think we might may be a little further south than Winterfell in conjunction with the 'wall' but close enough?)

That would make me a Stark :)

I live in the northern part of the Keystone state, so let's see. Right now we are in the midst of a long summer--we never got a proper winter this year, just unseasonable warmth. Hopefully, winter is coming. I prefer the cold weather, the sweater weather. We have wolves, coyotes, foxes, bear, deer, snakes... and there is a city called Erie nearby. We live in a development called Castle Rock (close enough), and near a road called River Road which sign is so faded that it actually looks like River Run. Can't go anywhere without being reminded of those books!

Australia again!

Instead of the Faceless Men we'd have the 'off-your-face Men' (we do love our drinks) - but they wouldn't be known for their stealth and cunning.

Instead of The Bear and Maiden Fair we could have The Roo and Sheila Too.

I don't know I'm from Chicago but if were to be involved in the worl of Ice and Fire on any level it would be as one of those random corpses littering the Riverlands. Lol I wouldn't survive a full day.
