so forgive me, I'm a bit confused about something...when BoT finds Jamie, is she taking him to the "ghost" of cat for justice? i wasn't sure where GRRM was going with that one...

We don't know 100% for certain, but that's what makes the most sense. She was given the choice of noose or sword in AFFC. Since we saw her in Dance, lying  Jaime in an attempt to lure him away, it is likely that she is taking him back to the BWB to be killed. If and how he will get out of it, we don't know. I just don't want him to die.

Why would Brienne kill Jaime? He has saved her from our plecious Valgo Hoat, he's trying to get back on the right track, she knows that. Brienne knows he wants to find Sansa before anyone else does.
I think she will bring him to Lady Stoneheart, but not to let him die. She will plead for his life. Maybe they're even going to look for Sansa together, as redemption. Lady Stoneheart won't be merciful.

I believe Cat has Pod and it threatining to kill him unless Brienne brings Jaime back... Maybe Jaime will be put on a task by Cat to prove his honour.

brienne is taking jaime to ladystoneheart(cat), martin only knows how that will play out, but one thing is for sure jaime will not die b4 he is responsible for cersei's death. he is after all the volonqar(little brother). i know cersei thinks it will be tyrion, but it will be jaime who fulfill's maggy's prophecy. maybe cat will send him to kill cersei

I fully expect Jaime to defrost Brienne during his captivity, take her maidenhood, then strangle Thoros with his left hand and smash Stoneheart's face back into the peace of the grave with his golden one. :cool4:

Or die trying, since the POV characters are really stacking up...

So, what if Brienne takes Jamie back to the Brothers. If he claims trial by combat and names Brienne as Champion does Lady CatBish accept, and who does she fight?

Sounds like a good plan.

Why would she give him a trial at all, unless she was 100% certain he'd die? If he's going to fight for his life, she'll probably make him fight it himself, since he's such a poor swordfighter now.

I think they'll make a public event of his execution. Killing the Kingslayer himself is pretty much the most amazing thing they could ever hope to accomplish as a brotherhood.

Yes, except that while most of AFFC and ADWD run in parallel, the last part of ADWD, including Kevan's chapter, occurs later.  We hear that Jaime 'has slipped his tail' when he went off with Brienne (did he arrange for a few soldiers to follow them?) but at the end of ADWD, no word of his death has reached KL.  If the Brotherhood were going to make a big public event of his death as you suggest, you'd think they would have done so by now and the news would have spread.

@Jamie: Where can I find this confimation of which you speak?

And, not that this is your fault, but would it have fucking killed Martin to just do that in the gods-damned chapter?  It's literally one fucking letter's difference.  "A word", "sword".  The others take that particular cliff-hanger.

Thanks for the spoiler info.

I never expected him to be dead based upon the fact no one has heard about it yet. The fact that his disappearance has come up so much is one of the main reasons why I think he is alive.

As for the spoiler,

Quote

Martin confirming those facts feel like a tease to me. I'm even more confident he won't die.

I refuse to believe he is dead until I read it on the page, even then I think I'll still refuse to believe it.

Eh, I'd rather he have just closed this plot line now rather than have me wait several more years. But, that is probably to much to ask.

Though at the time of reading, I remember having an 'oh FFS! moment', I'm glad now he didn't let us in on the 'word.'  I quite enjoyed my 'sword, she chose sword!' moment later on in the proceedings :cool4:

Thank you kindly.  The thing that kills me is that, realistically speaking, one ought to be able to infer this chain of events (saying sword, being spared and sent after Jaime) when Brienne shows up in Dance...

...But then I saw some crazy theory on the boards suggesting that she had been successfully hanged and then made out with Thoros.  While it seemed highly unlikely, I could not rule it out conclusively.
