CRUSADE 2012

Does it sound like I'm describing the Holy Crusader Army departing for Antioch? Well, I'm not! I'm describing what I saw regularly on the news, as Anti-Muslim protests flare up in Merrie Olde England.
We have come full circle and England is once again about to war with their old enemies the Saracen hordes, this time on their own territory. How does this make everyone feel? Are you bemused or gladdened to see the old Crusader spirit reviving among the English? Are you English? Are you battling the Muslim horde?
Tell us your stories and opinions!

What you describe is a vast overstatment.
Whats happening is a small minority group of rasicts are trying to make trouble. they are about as popular as the BNP Its certainly not everywhere.
Oh yes the flags are everywhere but ya know the Euro football is still on - yes we may be out now. Oh and then theres the Jubilee and don't forget the olympics ok so we should be flying the union flag for those but if you only have the English one...

Not everywhere, certainly not everywhere. As you may have noticed, I did not say THE WHOLE OF ENGLAND has risen!
I've been watching the news on my iPad for the past few months, however, and the legionary Englishmen shouting about ENGLAND FOR THE ENGLISH as they pile down the streets of London and whatnot have been very much in evidence, alongside the talking heads that insist England will be under Sharia Law in about a month or so...
And about those Olympics...I hear that MI5 has practically mobilized a tiny army themselves. People are concerned about all the UAVs, firearms, and checkpoints.

So you have been watching some overblown news that hype up certain areas for sensationialism.
as to the Olympics well there are certain groups that don't like us. there are many groups that don't like the US either. the olympics make a good target because a terroist attack there would make global news big time and cause mass terror. but that don't mean the terroists would have to live in the UK.

I understand the BNP are nonsensical holdovers from an ancient, xenophobic era.
well thats something then. but it really sounds like you're taking their (and other similar frindge groups) actions and suggesting that this is a majority view or even a widespread problem.
As someone who lives in london and watches local and regional news I can tell you its not that big an issue.

I would much rather it remain a small-scale thing, thank you. I'm not comfortable at all with the idea of it becoming a countrywide phenomenon. If the BNP saw me, I'd be hanging from a yardarm.

well if a Mosque or community centre opens up there's sometimes a protest march. and a bigger multi coloured anti protest protest march kept seperate by a line of police.
of course every time it happens a lot of news corps only show the Protest march - it makes for better sensaonalisum and fear thus selling papers / viewers.
what the news doesn't show is the vast majourity of interactions between White people and brown people where not even a nasty word or look happens.

I saw that Channel 4 were showing their programme about mulitculturalism and national identity in Bradford again last night. I've yet to see it. Anyone else seen it? Is it any good? A colleague of mine who is from Bradford said it was quite heavy-handed and not all that thoughtful.
