Why did they feel the need to change so much in TV for Season 2?

They changed the story I guess, cuz they want to see Dany in turmoil insted of chilling with Daxos in a litter. The writing was dreadfull though

Before this gets locked, the roles of Ramsay and the Reeds have been confirmed for season 3.
I definitely had some issues with this season...nearly threw my remote at the TV several times. I still like it though

The only plots I didn't like were Arya's new story-line and Jon snow's dumbed down character.

Creators don't believe in prophecy so they changed the HotU and eerie nature of Qarth and replaced it with what they did. Also they really wanted to use the line "WHERE ARE MY DRAGONS?!"
They loved the actor for Robb and so wanted to give him screentime. The only reason they put the Volantene chick in was because they read ADWD and had a bunch of new information on Volantis so they threw all of that in at the expense of the whole Westerling arc.

Are we supposed to do compare and contrast between the book and series in the book thread or the TV thread? Comparisons seem fair game on this forum.
It may be possible to winnow out which details are important and which are not, for instance, by noting what they leave out in the series. I know I'm looking for that when I watch.
Yipee, #1000!

I haven't seen season 2 yet, but from what I've heard, I got the impression she was less bad-ass. Or at least less stabby. I can't believe they took Weasel Soup AND tickling the Tickler away from her story.

She was badass in a different way than the book character and it came across as quite silly in my opinion.
Staring down Tywin Lannister and uttering lines that are far too mature for her were her main achievements on the show.
My father died because of loyalty, for instance. How would tv Arya know that?

Could have been bravado, but I see your point.
