With Tywin and Kevan no dead the rock is weak. Have we heard of any other formidable commaders in their family? If not I think we will soon see someone take it. Who?

Highgarden seems most likely.

well Tyrion is the rightful lord of casterly rock, but he's wanted for murder, Cersei would then be next as lady of casterly rock, if not her then it would have to pass to the next brothers of tywin, but i dont think any of them have kids alive anymore except lancel who is a warrios son, so my money would be Devan Lannister, warden of the west, if the rest of these dont pan out

They aren't just going to invade Casterly Rock, for no reason, after winter started.  War requires soldiers, food, and resources.

Much more likely is that it is vulnerable to Dany or Aegon.

Well there's Daven, the Warden of the West. Although he hasn't exactly been shown as a spectacular leader.

Jaime didnt have bad things to say about him about the seige at riverun, he thought he did a pretty good job on his part, not the freys

Their cousin Damion is the current castellan - we know next to nothing about him except that Jaime "has no quarrel with him."

I like the idea that Tyrion helps Danny take it and use has a home base until she can move on KL and leaving it to Tyrion.

that would require her to cross westeros from east to west, maybe if she continues east like quaithe suggests then she could end up there via the sunset sea

Apparently we will see Casterly Rock in the next book, or so I heard. I can't imagine it involving military action though.

Well Tyrion is both a murderer, accused kingslayer and most importantly a kinslayer so normal succession rules probably arn't going to work in his favor. I would suppose that Cersei is the new Lady Lannister and since only Tywin's brood seems to be as dysfunctional I would imagine that anyone will try and steal the Rock from Cersei. But otherwise there is Daven who does seem pretty qualified and if I recall both Tyrion, Robb and the Blackfish had some respect for his military capabilities.

There is the fact that the Lannister hold the most gold of the seven kingdoms, no? Take the rock you take the wealth. I don't think it was all just in them saying "we are rich". Wars cost money. Winter hasn't affected that region so far as we have seen.

As for Lf that's my crackpot theory. Sansa starts her game and convinces LF to move on them while they are weak. They could take the riverlands and the rock virtually uncontested and then march north to bail out Stannis(from reading she only wants to go home)..

Aegon would be smart to find a way to storm the Rock.

Theoretically Myrcella would be next in line for Casterly Rock. Its different than the throne where it seems like only men are an option.

We will probably see The Rock through Cerseis POV, likely after she flees KL to escape either Aegon or the Tyrells. It will not be taken until book 7, although it think near the end of WoW Tyrion and Daeny will turn up at Lannisport with dragons and an army. Tyrion can then use his knowledge of the sewers to let them into the castle (as was foreshadowed by the way Meereen was taken).

Tyrion and Daenerys will travel from he East to the West, landing in the Rock and using it as a base of operation. Sansa POV show us the Vale. Brienne/Jaime POV shows the riverlands, Jon/Asha/Reek/Bran/Davos POV shows the north, Griff POV shows Stormlands, Nym/Tyene POV shows KL, Areo/Arianne POV shows Dorne and Sam/Obara the reach.
