So, I was watching this documentary on the ultraterrestial threat of an interdimensional destroyer coming into our world and it got me thinking about this simple concept: What the fuck will we do if Gozer manifests in something other than a Staypuff Marshmellow giant?

What if crossing the streams and overloading the proton packs doesn't work? Can we count on Vigo the Carpathian to fight for us, even if it means submitting ourselves to his will?

Now, what the world might look like in the event of the main containment unit bursting is a good question to ask at that point. One thing for sure is all the ghosts will escape, though I think we might have a few Slimer types in there who, with the proper bribe of foodstuffs, we can lure over to our side.

Beyond that, I guess we can think of holy ground to seek out. I'd probably try for Tibet, I figure the Dalai Lama has got some plans to handle this shit. I'd also invest in some charms against the evil eye or something.

I thought of a bunch of other stuff, but then I figured it was best to maybe mention some stuff further down instead of building a whole mountain of text that people might be too tired to read at this late hour. 'Cause Sci is polite like that.

Well a quote from Hellsing springs to mind

"In the meantime, I highly recommend pissing yourself, followed by a course of praying to your impotent god! But hey! There's always time to just be a man and kill yourself! Thank you London! We love you!! GOODNIGHT!"

to misquote Peter Pan
Peter Pan: There oughta be a ghost for every girl and boy.
Wendy: Oughta be? Isn't there?
Peter Pan: Oh, no. Children know such a lot now. Soon they don't believe. And every time a child says "I don't believe in ghosts", there's a ghost someplace that leaves this dimension.

I'd use a rudimentary time machine to travel back 6000 years to Sumeria at the rise of his power. Using modern technology, I'd wipe out his cult and create a technocracy for myself in it's place.

I'm seriously shocked that's not everyone's first response really.

edit: Obviously, by wiping out his cult at the source, he fails to gain a foothold in our dimension, thus saving the world.

i'm sure many briefly considered it, but then realized that horror of 8,000 years of the world being crushed by iron fist of masonitic rule was potentially worse than anything gozur could do.

plus all the keynesians saw that damage that the ghosts were doing and said, "on the bright side, this will be great for the new york economy"

He is already among us, but instead of Staypuffed he had taken the form on Jim Thome of Major League Baseball.  Every time he's at the plate it's like "Don't pitch it to him you fool!  He's going to destroy it!"

I'm intrigued by the idea of a "rudimentary" time machine.  Does that mean it's made out of rocks and sticks and tied together with, like, twine and shit?

'Cause, I gotta tell ya, once you've used an ultra-advanced, mega-modern time machine with all the bells and whistles and calibrated down to the micron*, you'll never want to use anything else ;)

*I believe this is what the Democrats recenlty used to go back in time to plant the word "bane" in pre-English languages.
