We won't know until we see the movie; so far they've used tunes from The Two Towers and Gladiator, so for some reason they're keeping the score pretty tightly sealed.
The music from this last trailer is not Gladiator, though it is performed by Lisa Gerrard. The song is called Elegy.

I'm not hugely interested in a Superman origin story to be honest, but it looks clear the film is coupling that to an awesome confflict as well.
It looks great, and already we see some impressive sequences. Superman vs Zod is a great match-up, no need for silly Kryptonite or irritatingly bad Luthor villains that ruins stories. Plot synopsis on IMDB makes mention of Superman fighting Zod's "army of robots", but I don't think we saw any robots in the trailer did we?
There's also a shot where we see a long haired male/female in a long coat standing darkly in front of burning skyscrapers, but I can't determine who it is. I thought it was Zod, but then I saw Shannon has short hair in this film. Maybe his wife.

Probably Superman's mom watching Krypton exploding.

EDIT: Oh, and here's hoping that Lois Lane doesn't come upon Zod in a bathrobe and brushing his teeth. For me, that totally destroyed Lex Luthor as a credible dangerous villain in Superman Returns.

Apparently DC marketing keeps their marketing information pretty hush-hush, which unfortunately means we have to go on the word of FilmCritHulk here who "has a friend" in the marketing department:

Where did this information come from, HULK?

Fortunately said blogger has given me no reason to believe that he's misleading anybody.
And then there are these couple of comments which I find fascinating; yes, they're anecdotal, but I've never understood the disdainful dismissal of anecdotal evidence anyway:

Go down to any mall/shopping-center in an ethnically-diverse city, find the shop/section that is (mostly) targeted at the "inner city" (read: African-American/Hispanic) demographic and look around for comic/superhero merch. The Superman "S" will be EVERYWHERE - hats, shirts, jewelry, licensed, unlicensed, it's inescapable. Batman? Not nearly as much, and what there is will usually be TDK-specific. Hell, know any tattoo artists? Ask them, demographically, who is more likely to come it to get the Superman Shield inked.
Is this, as HULK postulates, a result of that particular demographic being more likely to have a more direct relationship with mortality and fear of being overwhelmed by forces outside your control? I don't know, but it's a compelling premise. VERY compelling, in fact - I can easily imagine, a few years down the line, some fandom-article or college-essay with a title like "Superman Is Black" being one of those "pop-culture essay that becomes a big news item."
Quote
YUP!. EVEN SOME MERE ANECDOTAL EVIDENCE: SHAQ, DWIGHT HOWARD? ALL WORSHIP AT THE ALTAR OF SUPERMAN. AS DO A NUMBER OF OTHER FAMOUS AFRICAN-AMERICAN CELEBRITIES.
YET HULK NOT SEE THEM GETTING TATTOOS OF THE GUY WHO GOES AROUND THE INNER CITY BEATING UP THUGS. THAT A WHOLE DIFFERENT KIND OF FANTASY.

I does sound like Gladiator a lot, though. It'll be interesting what direction Zimmer takes.

Why I asked for data, 'cause it's showdown of the anecdotes! MUWAHAHAHA!
And I'll grant Batman isn't as a big name in some areas, and I sorta see the class lines that Hulk is talking about, but I don't see Superman making up the difference. Instead it's Wolverine, Spiderman/Venom, and Hulk that stick in my memory.
Not to say that the rich white guy who beats up thugs isn't a very urban fantasy, I'm with you on that. Just think Marvel heroes, with their more down to earth nature, catch a lot of the urban, inner city market IME.

I now have this odd urge to break into DC and Marvel and steal their marketing data, because I've become suddenly curious about this whole subject.

Cavill is also a little short for the role imo, Reeve, Welling and Routh were all >= 6'3". I always though Dean Cain was also a bit shorter than the character should be.
The problem is that it is a reboot. If you kept the same actor, people would be confused.
