So, I know a lot of folks on here don't care for Anderson. I thought his Terra Incognita series was not great, but fairly readable and I think that's the only thing I've read of his.
Anyway, he has written a novel based on Rush's new concept album, Clockwork Angels. I think, based on listening to the album, it's going to be sorta steampunk? I dunno, I'm a huge Rush fan and am tempted to get it based on just that, but I don't have high hopes at all.
Anyone else reading or planning to read it?

I have an early copy. It is steampunk, though I don't know the details. I haven't decided yet if I'll take the plunge.

I will have to get it from the library to answer the first question that came into my head
"can it be any worse then his dune books?"

Damn, how did I not know the new Rush album was released last month?
From the thread title I got scared that homeboy was going to try to flesh out 2112 into a novel.

That last line made me laugh out loud.
Maybe the right person could make it work... or... not.
Yeah, it's a great song, but the story would just be downright silly.

On-topic, I have some mixed feelings about this and I'm not sure if I'll buy the novel or not. I'm a huge Rush fan, but not a KJA fan. There again, I'm not a hater of his work, either. Anderson's a personal friend of Neil Peart, which is how this came about. The album's interesting - a sort of steampunk retelling of Candide - and it's clear even from the album that there's a lot of back-story left out. I'll probably check it out.

I've heard about this, but since I'm not familiar with KJA other than his questionable reputation 'round these parts and I find the potential quality of a book based an an album to be rather low, I've not picked this up.
Color me interested if some adventurous poster thinks it's worth the plunge.
