Agree with various posters here: Rhaegar, Bronn, the two Tyrell brothers, Jorah Mormont, Jaime Lannister, ADWD-Tyrion... overrated.

I'd add: Syrio (who?), Euron, Victarion, all the past kingsguard, Barristan, Randyll Tarly.

Jon Snow, obviously. According to half this board he's the most awesome person in Westeros and an interesting character. Talk about mass delusion....

yep, I am with you on that.  At least until we read the following tales. The possibility of redemption only occurs because Jaime has been handicapped.  He has to unpack his privileges (gender, ability, economic) before he can even begin to redeem himself.  the only difference in him now is that he can't simply badmouth everyone he wants to because its harder for him to chop them down in a fight.

Bronn, Arya Stark, Daenerys Targaryen, Rhaegar Targaryen, Tyrion Lannister, Oberyn Martell, Syrio Forel, Arthur Dayne (all Daynes actually), Brynden Tully, Randyll Tarly, Sandor Clegane, Willas Tyrell (I still like the idea of him though), Garlan Tyrell, Olenna Redwyne, Varys, Euron Greyjoy, Jon Snow, Yoren, Tywin Lannister, Khal Drogo and the idea that Gendry will have relevance.

Arya - Getting through her chapters in the last 2 books have been a huge chore for me
Victarion - Definitely a badass but not much else, his chapters in DWD weren't interesting imo

Oh, god, and also - as a region - the North.  Yes, the North has lots of great qualities.  But sometimes people act as though it's like this Heavenly Eden of perfection, goodness, light, honor and everything that has ever been good since the beginning of time.  It's just a geographical area.
