Is there anyone else here that wants to see YG take the Iron Throne? As is stated in ADWD, YG is being taught that Kingship is his duty, not his right. Even if he's just a Blackfyre pretender, he still could be the most capable of all the kings. Just because he's introduced
late doesn't mean much. GRRM is as unpredictable as they come. So, I'm pretty much pushing all my support behind Aegon/YG. Anyone else feel the same way?

In his interactions with Tyrion, he seemed immature and impatient. So if he does get the throne, I don't think he'll hold it for very long.

I don't like him, for some reasons:
  • I don't like dead people coming back from the dead. You'd understand if you'd seen wights.
  • I don't like GRRM pushing new kings in with a shovel
  • he's an asshole

I was worried about that, too. But then again, he is a teen, not a big surprise he's impatient.

Well, I don't like him. Because he may be a Targ. If he can do something good for the Realm, like save it from the Others I may change my mind but there are too many candidates for the throne and some of them have prove themselves.

Varys thinks he knows what it means to rule. Just because he's read a bunch of books, and lived amongst the commoners, doesn't mean he would know how to rule Westeros better than anyone else.

He's actually the oldest major teen character we have. He's a year older than Jon, and we first meet him when he's 18. And despite what Varys says, he never shows any indication of caring about anything but his rights (look at the fact that he's starting a war at the beginning of winter) . And if he's going to be a military leader, it's not good that the first time his life is in danger, he freezes.

I want a Targaryen (or Blackfyre) to return to the iron throne. Dany can't have kids so it's up to Aegon/YG to continue the legacy of the Dragon Kings.

I suppose you all have good points. Maybe my support for him was a bit premature.

He doesn't seem like a bad kid even if he is a bit hot tempered, but I just don't see him taking the Iron Throne, mainly because he was introduced so relatively late in the series.

If my choices are Dany, Jon or Aegon, I'm definitely on the A Team.

he makes the story much more interesting to me, now that Dany won't simply get Dorne's support if she decides to claim the Iron throne for herself, and she won't even be the rightful Queen

I think he seems like a pretty average teenager.  Tyrion was pushing his buttons pretty hard.  If he is actually Rhaegar and Elia's son, I'd like to see him getting the Iron Throne.

He's not my ideal candidate but if he can live up to Varys' billing, he's a better bet than most, so I should rank him behind Stannis but above the boy king Tommen and Daenerys.

I feel the same way and I like young Aegon, the Targaryens really need a warrior in the family and it seems he will be filling that role.

He'll take the Iron Throne, but he won't hold it. Taking the throne means hee-haw unless you can take the 7 kingdoms with it. Otherwise all you get is the Crownlands. Seems like he might be taking 2 of the 7(Dorne & Stormlands), but the North, Iron Islands, Westerlands, and probably at least half the Reach won't go for him at all. The Vale might, depends who is in charge when they find out about Aegon(even if LF is still in charge and decides to support Aegon, beware of Greeks bearing gifts). The Riverlands is such a mess, and lacks central leadership, so it can be ignored in this context. I can see him holding KL at the end of WoW, but losing it and dying near the start of DoS.

Sure he is going to take the Iron Throne. For like 5 minutes. Then he is going to be killed.

Young Griff aka Aegon aka The Mummer's Dragon is in for a short reign unless he can get the Tyrells to support him, if he can get the Tyrells, Martells and the Storm lands he will have enough power to kick out the Lannisters, the reason I don't think he will take the Iron Throne is because of Maggy the Frog's prophesy to Cersei about another QUEEN far more beautiful and younger will take the throne from her.

Queen Dany will take the Iron Throne, Young Griff also has one person he and Varys have not considered, a person with a lot of $$$$ and power . .

Euron Crow's Eye.  Euron is reigning havoc on The Reach but he also has enough power, knowing he is using Victarion as bait  to get what he wants .. Euron has ships (Around 1,000) and men to crew those ships . .  he will not sit back and let some pretender take what is his.

So we have

Aegon and the Golden Company, 10,000 folks
Euron Crow's Eye and the Iron Born, 1,000 ships
The Tyrells,  30 to 50 thousands folks,
The Lannisters,
The Vale and Riverlands

Aegon is in trouble .. . .

I think Varys is full of crap.  And Aegon reminds me of Joffrey, without the sociopathic part.  But Joffrey would have sucked, even if he didn't like killing cats, beating Sansa, and executing Ned.  He just had a bad personality.  And so does Aegon, I think.  Besides, he's just some tanner from Flea Bottom's kid (was it a tanner?), as he so charmingly described the baby that he thinks died for him.
