I am writing with the sad news that my roommate David, who once posted to and moderated this forum as Brude, has died. I know how much he loved this forum, and how much he loved the Ice and Fire books. And how much he hated spoilers. I know he'd be pleased to see his anti-spoiler policy still pinned to the top of the Entertainment topic list; and he'd be even more pleased to see that the community that he was so proud to be a part of continues to flourish.

David died unexpectedly of a heart attack, the doctors believe in his sleep. He was 40 years old.

Wow, what a terrible travesty. He hasn't posted in a long time here (although I saw him occasionally at another forum I frequent). We shared a similar passion for film and I had such great conversations with him. He's been missed here, and his absence has been noted by many.

So sorry to hear about his death, that is too young. Thank you for letting us know.

What a terrible shame. He was very active when I first started posting here and I remember looking up to him both for his opinions and the quality and passion with which he discussed them. He was one of the people that contributed to making me feel like this was a comfortable and friendly place to post, and I will always be grateful to him for that.

And did we tell you the name of the game, boy?

Ugh. I was thinking about him earlier today- the sticky at the top of the forum always brings him to mind. One of my favorite posters from when I joined the forum. RIP, Brudewollen.

I always kind of held out hope he'd come back at some point. Shit. /sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

That's terrible news. Brude's posts, particularly when he was talking about film, were always insightful and worth reading. I'm sorry I never got the chance to meet him.

R.I.P. Brude.

Oh my god, that's just horrible news. I'm so sorry to hear, but thanks for letting us know. Threads about The Wire just aren't the same without Brudewollen coming in and reminding us that it is the greatest work of fiction, in any medium, ever.

Holy cow, wow, I am so sorry to hear this. I always enjoyed seeing what he had to say. So sorry for your loss.

RIP Brudewollen.

Jesus, he's the same age I am.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I had wondered about him, since I hadn't seen him around for a while.

ETA: I still remember his avatar so well. Unfortunately, when the board changed up, it was never updated.
