Why is this pinned in Entertainment? His profile says he was last active in May.  Had he been ill?  Or is this news several months late?

I feel like this should be moved to Gen Chat.

Brude was posting regularly back when I first joined, his stuff was always considered and well-expressed. He was, and will be missed.

I remember him well. The man with the atomic brain...

It's fucking sad. He made entertainment far more entertaining when he used to be around :frown5:

Such sad news! He was one of the most interesting posters to read, both about ASOIAF and Hollywood. RIP.

Damn! He seemed like good people, though I never got the pleasure of corresponding 1-1.

RIP David "Brude"

This is terrible; way too early to go. RIP our resident film critic.

So sad to hear this, he made my reasons for liking even the same stuff as he did feel trivial and childish. He understood film and fiction in a way I hope to do.

I'd only recently checked his profile to see how long it had been since he'd last visited.

Terrible news. My condolences to Brudewollen's friends and family.

Awful news. :( Brude was one of those who always made the forum better for his participation. He was knowledgeable without being egotistic about it, especially in the area of film (as others have noted) but also in a wide range of other topics. Always reasonable, pleasant, civil, thoughtful, balanced, and an excellent moderator. This is a big loss to our community: but still, our loss is as nothing compared to that of his friends and family. Condolences to all of them.

Saw this last night and I couldn't quite bring myself to say anything, in hopes that by morning it'd all be revealed to be a hoax. I'm quite saddened by this -- David was a great guy, and I had some terrific chats and discussions with him over the years. He was a fine contributor to the forum, a knowledgeable and intelligent person who shared that knowledge freely. He'll be missed.

My condolences to his friends and family, and my thanks to Thirdsyphon for letting us all know about this.

God damn. I also didn't realise it had been so long since we'd seen him. Awful news, and far too young. My condolences to everyone who knew him better than I did. :(

:(  I so, so hoped that when I clicked on this thread it would turn out to be something different. Jesus.

I was just thinking this week, after not posting in the Entertainment forum for a while, that I didn't seem to have seen Brude around for some time. I always read what he had to say about the film industry with great interest and respect for his thoughts. He will be sorely missed.
