Gendry will turn up, possibly in Jaime or Arya's POV'S.
Edric, was sent away across the sea. Maybe if Daenerys conquers Pentos or whereever he went to, he might join her in her return to Westeros.

I am a fan of the theory that "Waking Dragons from Stone" could mean a Targaryen creating babies with Maya Stone. However, Melisandre seems intent on the use of the blood of a King to wake the Stone Dragon. She does not specify it has to be a Targ King - this is a weak point in the theory.

To Veltigar:
I thought the same thing to about how Gendry is the only blacksmith we sort of know at this point who might be the one to forge Lightbringer or some variation - I think his apprenctice time with Mott was key, he continues to practice at every forge he finds, he is esentially the blacksmith for the BWB, and he (so far) believes in R'hllor. It seems GRRM is pointing to Gendry forging a sword and his learning about the powers of Rhllor might just be the "magic" needed to reforge say, Ice?
Off topic, does Old Nan's tale mean that the Last Hero could only be three people (Jon, Bran, Rickon) we know who have a pet wolf? Nah....GRRMs never that simple.....
I agree with the idea that Jaime will do multiple things to drive Cersei crazy - and protecting Gendry could be one of them. Running around the Riverlands with Brienne is another... and saving Starks and Tullys.......
Funny, Jaime could "out" a lot of people....his own children.....Alayne (Sansa)....Gendry....maybe even Jon Snow ("wow that guy looks like Ned, but is moody like Rhaegar...maybe he should get laid more and pick up a harp....)
Okay back to Robert's Bastards....

Maybe Edric will meet Arya on her travels.....and he will remind her of Gendry...and she will piece together who Gendry is. Although what she will do with this information is anybody's guess. But I still think Edric's a goner....
I'm also not convinced that all the Bastard's are dead, Robert did get around.....
I also wonder too if there are other minor characters that are Robert Bastards that we have read about but haven't piece together yet....I'm looking at you, Satin.

From Wiki - Old Nan's tale to Bran that she never finishes:

And the Others smelled the hot blood in him and came silent on his trail, stalking him with packs of pale white spiders big as hounds-"

If our Hero is Jon, the blood in him is not likely to be hot.
Re: the Baratheon (still can't get over how cool that name sounds!) bastards
It seems to me that Mya has a place at Sansa's side, whichever way that takes shape... for the Vale is Sansa's for the taking when she decides to play the Game.
Edric I think is a goner. He's in the Free Cities with guardians, right? And you don't get guardians unless you're likely to be attacked. But he seems so far from the plot at the moment that I can't really come up with anything substantial to theorise how he comes back into play.
As for Gendry, he's my favourite. I think he'll somehow take command of the BwB. Not sure how, no theories. But his connection to Arya has to come into play when she is eventually sent back to the Seven Kingdoms. The sad thing for GRRM to do would have one of them perish at the hands of the other, only to realise after it's too late. But the optimist in me has good ol' Bullhelm legitimised by whomever, and carrying on the fury and dreaming of Spring from Storm's End.
