Daven Lannister is marrying a Frey soon right? I'd heard earlier that the wedding might happen at Riverrun, where we know Tom o sevens is just biding his time. I'd love if the freys got knocked int he trident and trapped under the ice. It would seem fitting considering their mockery of the Tully funeral tradition.

People keep talking about RW2:0 but it won't be. There will be a wedding, there will be death, but it won't be anything like the RW. IIRC every wedding we have seen there has been at least 1 death. It might be a blue, Green or Orange wedding, but not another Red.

IMO or theory there will never be a great big Frey BBQ/Barn fire. Some will die here, so will die there and so on.

I like the name.

Do rivers freeze this far south?? I dont think even the white knife freezes completely or Manderly wouldn't have hidden his Galleys there.

Exactly, I mentioned this on the first page. I'm not convinced that a) the rivers freeze that far south, but even if this winter is exceptionally cold, b  ) the river is described as deep and fast flowing around the Twins. That type of river can't really freeze over. It could freeze upstream of course...

deep and fast flowing rivers have froze over in the real world, Ive heard stories of huge rivers like the thames (not exactly fast flowing but pretty big) completly freezing about a hundred years ago where people climbed onto the ice, ice skated and where known to open market stalls and shit. Then in some bear grylls documentaries he talks about how dangerous frozen rivers can be incase you went through the ice and where swept down stream, that said, we wont really know how cold it will get around the twins and gods eye etc until the next books.

I know it happens, but we're talking a massive, deep and fast flowing river that is big enough for them to build two castles and a bridge over it. Even assuming it got cold enough for the surface to freeze, I think the Freys are at least bright enough to make holes in it so that anyone who tries to attack them goes for a swim.

Well IIRC they said it was snowing in  Old town, which is 1,000's of miles further south then the Riverlands. I think it is safe to say that it could happen, even if nobody remembers it happening before.

In Quebec canada I ice scatted on a canal while the water was simultaneously frozen on the hudson and mohawk rivers in NY. both at least bare minimum 300 miles south, in NYC more like 500 miles south or more

The Others have come back and when they get past the wall, which I suspect is more than a physical barrier, Westeros will enter a mini ice age. Now when the Others physically start running around Westeros everywhere including start should start feeling the snow in due time.

Lol, seriously guys the Isle of Faces lies in the middle of a lake. It's not like it's crazily inaccessible to begin with.

Ok, so I was checking out a map of Westeros thinking where people will go during TWoW and this thought occurred to me: Water freezes over during the cold of winter, especially the long winters of Westeros.

Two things stand out to me:

1- The God's Eye will freeze over making it possible for anybody to walk across and visit the Isle of Faces.

2- The Twins could be surrounded by ice and open to a right and proper sacking, complete with Frey Pies for everybody.

So... Who will go to the Isle of Faces? And who could sack the Twins? Unless this topic has been done before (I checked far back enough to think it hasn't) this could give us some different things to discuss while we play the WoW waiting game. Thoughts?

I want a taste of this "Frey Pie!" Gimme! :D

isnt Freyr actually Borroq (because of the boar) and Walder (because of all the children)? he will be killed by the one with the flaming sword or Thor, whatever way you look at it

This is the Ohio River, at Cincinnati. Not exactly "North" and we don't even have Westerosi winters. It's happened quite a few times too.

Dany had a dream about the river lands being overrun by others. I don't remember if they were covered in ice though.

Here's something a bit more poetic. All the Freys are gathered at the Twins, because old Lord Walder is about to croak. Black Walder has disposed of everyone ahead of him in line of the succession, but he's found out as a kinslayer, so he's been eliminated. Everyone is waiting for Lord Walder to name a successor. They've braved fierce snow and cold to get to the Twins.
Just as Lord Walder struggles to name a successor, the Twins crumble into the Green Fork. The ice has cracked the crossing's pilars and now The Twins are crumbling under the weight of all the Freys and all their bannermen and smallfolk.

Of course, you can just use the dragon cheat.
