Sorry... I want you to know that I have been extremely guarded against letting information slip. I have only speculated on a week to week basis about players that I have no knowledge of. I am also not 100% positive.

To be fair about it, I will limit my discussion to things that have already happened in an episode in this thread so you don't have to worry about getting spoiled by me.

yeah. i trust you're good about it. just one of those things.

Yeah HP you've been fine.  I knew the spoilers were out there but after I checked them out a few years ago it kind of dampened the season for me so I try to avoid results spoilers.  But I like knowing the format and what returnees there may or may not be.

And yeah, I was really surprised Malcolm chose Lisa too.  Not just because Denise is his closest ally but because Lisa was on the ropes.  You don't want someone like that with her head back in the game because she has been playing hard for a big chunk of the game.  Not all of it was good gameplay but she has been trying to make moves and get things done; add her likeability to that and you have a strong final jury opponent.  But if you she's given up then she stops trying so hard and weakens herself in front of the jury.

Not to mention how it almost bit him right on the ass immediately.  It would be a dick move to purposely not pick her because she's suffering, but you just don't want to give someone who has been and soon will be your opposition a chance to catch her breath.

Malcolm has shown himself to not be malicious like that though, and picked her out of genuine kindness which is exactly why he will not make final three.  I think he is guaranteed to win against anyone in the finals and even Denise has to know that.

Was that Denise's boyfriend who showed up for the reward challenge?

Was this a case of Extreme Cougar, or is it just my imagination?

Okay.  I'm ashamed of myself for being judgmental.  I **am** rooting for her, though, y'know.  :P

Husband, and he wasn't that much (if any) younger than her.  He was just kind of pale and pudgy and that made her look a bit older with her wiry muscles and tanned skin.

I didn't see Malcolm having much of a choice but to invite Lisa's brother along. She was incredibly emotional, and although it didn't work out the way he expected, I am pretty sure that if he didn't, he would have a rift in their alliance.

He knows that he has Denise as a solid voting block. The best move for him was to try and secure Lisa and Skupin with a little bit of gratitude.

Dear Lisa,

I appreciate that you want to be a good game player and that in a hypothetical you have no problem being calculating and ruthless.  Watching your game play so far leads me to the conclusion that you just can't do it in reality.

Whenever you try to go against your own conscience in the name of strategy, you fall apart.  You've been tied in knots trying to be some master gamer version of yourself who only exists in your dreams.  Just relax, behave in a way that makes you comfortable with yourself.  Go ahead and be loyal and earnest.

You will be replaying these days in your head for the rest of your life.  Don't make a slideshow that fills you with shame and regret.  You may regret losing the million dollars but you'll never really regret staying true to your principles.

I think that's the trouble.  Right now you are all wound up, fearing that you will kick yourself forever for not being more ruthless but I just don't think that's the way it will work out.

Good luck.

The talk Lisa had with her brother seemed contrived and rehearsed. I never thought that the editors were exploiting the fact that Lisa was a former child star until this episode. She has been integral in several facets of gameplay this season so her amount of airtime seems legitimate. But her brother got more airtime in this one episode than Carter, Artis, Dana, Dawson, hell maybe even Skupin all season. My memory is most likely failing me, but I can’t remember a family member being given a confessional ever. I find Lisa tiresome at times. I get that she is conflicted by her morals and by her strategic instinct, but why must tears pour out of her face every time she feels this? I don’t think she really has a clue what to do. I’m a Survivor nerd so I read a lot of interviews and such, and it sounds like several jury members don’t respect her flopping fish gameplay.

I love how awkward Abi was with the family visit. While watching everyone reeling with excitement and affection, she just seemed so uncomfortable. It’s like she couldn’t cope with the expression of an emotion besides pissedoffness. In some ways she reminds me of myself, though I’m not nearly as obnoxious or as rude (hopefully).

The fact that the preview for last week’s episode focused on Malcolm’s insistence that his brother could ruin his chances at winning has me suspicious. Even though it wasn’t a concern in the episode, I think it may come into play during the remaining episodes. Otherwise why did editors make such a huge fucking deal about it? If it is one of those editing tricks, I hate them.

Probably just editing to get us to watch the episode, since otherwise it was pretty meh.

I have a strong dislike of Lisa. At first I liked her since she was nice and trying, but after 5 episodes of her wishy-washy stupidity, I've had enough of her.  It has to be even worse in camp since she seems to be carrying on about it all the time (like RC's strategy).  Maybe that is why she is still around, that everyone in camp doesn't think she can win at all, but she got a favorable edit so we don't see it at home.

This episode absolutely shocked me. I did not expect Abi to go home at all. Abi may have been absolutely correct when she called Skupin a moron tonight.

Denise would have been the smart move, yeah. But with this group, it both surprised me and didn't. I like ALL of the final four. When does that ever happen? I was worried about Denise and her bite though. I guess they had to put some tension in this episode somehow.

I'm having a hard time imagining which of the final four would win.  I really don't think Denise has an advantage over everyone else, nor does Malcolm, though I'd prefer it if either of them does win.  I'm thinking whoever can talk the best will win it, and that might just be Lisa, or Denise or Malcolm.  Mike...  as accident-prone as he's been, he actually hasn't played moronically as Abi has said.  He's play better than Lisa slightly I'd say, at least in the latter half.

Who was it that Penner was giving the finger?

Lisa was defending her old tribe saying it wasn't luck that they won, but Abi did not contribute a single thing to any of those victories.  She sat out every challenge except the first I think.  So she was extremely lucky.  I wish Denise had pointed that out.

Abi getting upset that she wasn't picked to go on the reward was freaking hilarious.  Has there ever been a contestant more clueless about themselves?  And then it looked like she was glued to Denise back at camp, poor Denise just wanted some alone time.

I have no idea who Penner was flipping the bird to, but I'm as curious as you are about it.  Someone rewatch this please!  :P
I kinda love how he inserts himself into the game even after he's out of it.

Lisa kind of gave me a pain in the ass the last few episodes.  This time was no different.  At tribal council her "defense" of her old tribe went on a wee bit too long.  I think Denise had to say she understood and that she was right about 20 times before Lisa felt she had made her position clear to a person who was agreeing with her.  Arrrrgggghhh.  It looked like jury pandering to me.

I think Denise they cut to a shot of Denise voting right before or after Penner flipped the bird, can't remember which.

Voting out Abi was, for Skupin, a moronic move.  But Abi's complete lack of social grace in badgering him and calling him an idiot and a moron is exactly why he didn't save her.  Taking Abi to the end was the only way Skupin had a chance at winning, but she's such a bitch I can't blame him.

If Malcolm doesn't win final four immunity, he's toast.  I just don't see how any of them think they can beat him.  Which means Denise is the likely winner.  I doubt Lisa or Skupin will get Artis, Pete, and Carters' vote, add Malcolm and that's four for Denise.  I'd say RC and Penner vote Skupin with Abi voting Lisa and Kent whoever, but four will be enough for Denise to take it.

I'm kind of surprised and excited that, even after all the talk and Survivor history of taking people you can beat to the end, they still voted Abi out.

I thought Denise was just saying that Abi was lucky to have been on the team that never went to tribal, not that Tandang never went to tribal because they were lucky.  I think she could have explained that better, although for all we know, she did and they just didn't include that footage.

Also, with all the talk, really bordering on the arrogant at times, about how there was no way Abi could win and that she'd be the perfect person to take to the end, I wonder if any jury member could stomach voting for Abi to win just to make a point of that...

It was Lisa - hence, my rant up above about how she's pandering to the jury.  She went on and on to make sure everyone knew how teh awesome she thought their team was.

I was really surprised Abi was voted out.  It seems insane that Skupin and Lisa voted her out.  I was surprised they didn't do the "3v2" on the vote and show that someone voted for Denise besides Abi (specifically Malcolm).  It always suck for the strong player in the end (Malcolm), it always is win the last few or you're toast.

I'm surprised they didn't make a bigger deal that Malcolm didn't give Denise the immunity idol. The ONLY reason not to give it to her was either to pander for votes from Lisa/Skupin or because he's going to vote out Denise.

If you watch the ponderosa video, you can see RC ripping Abi a new one as well. It was pretty funny, but surprising that RC is THAT bitter still. She also seems to be quite the bitch to all of the other contestants.
