The observers are acting out side of everything we have learnt about them.

feel like thy kinda had to do this. in the last season, you have to go bigger. the plotline has to deal with the characters at the most intrinsic level.

by last season, they'd exhausted every one that meant anything. bell, walternate, jones.

they had to go bigger than all of that, while still pulling from what we knew. the observers made so much since as the big threat. the biggest threat that had been there all along.

could they have done it differently? yeah but i do think that retooling the observers was the way to go towards the ultimate conclusion

interesting. kinda thought what happened was obvious. if the attack crippled the observers for years, it still wouldnt effect when they were sending supplies back to.

say they were sending it back from 2103 to 2030 or whatever. their operations in 2103 are damaged. so it takes them until 2106 to get going again. but once they do that, they resume sending things to 2030. they dont start sending them to 2033

i realize that's not where they were going with this, but that's what i would have assumed if i saw the shipping resumed.

I was thinking that too...I don't know if this is a major oversight by the writers or the characters. If it's the latter, I hope it's addressed at some point, because that kind of had me facepalming a bit.

Anyways, pretty good episode. Looks like Peter is the first Observer after all, which might be why the episode was titled "An Origin Story." It will be nice to have a super ninja-y character now that Olivia seems to have lost all cortexiphan abilities (which I'm still hoping reappear, as that has been one of the biggest threads tying all of the season together).

I agree, especially after the last episode.  Man, I thought Walter did some eff'ed up stuff in his day, but this kinda takes the cake, imho.

Peter is getting to be really creepy. I love all the season 1 throwbacks this season.

I saw.  Another great episode but not enough of Walter.

What confused you?

Yeah that was kind of an anti-climatic moment, at least from a plot perspective (though it was nice character development, and hardcore Peter x Olivia shippers must have been dying).

I thought this season started really amazingly, with great potential, a lot of action, and a pretty tight plot, but aside from the premiere (which I thought was tremendous), I've been disappointed.

Something about this season just feels...off. I don't know if it's the way it's shot, in all dismal blue colors. I don't know if it's the lack of Fringe cases. I don't know if it's the weak/underdeveloped main plot (who are the Observers? why are they all white, aging men? can we please get some massive backstory very soon!) I don't know if it's missing Walter's eccentricities, Olivia's pantsuits, Broyles, Lincoln/Charlie, September or what, but this season is not doing it for me. The Observer plot had so much potential, but I feel like they're dropping the ball.

It's still damn good television, and I will be watching live until it ends on January 18th, but I think I can definitely say that seasons 2-3 were by far the best.

I feel like you do.  I'm watching the episodes but I'm not loving them.  I sort of feel like I'm on autopilot watching them and I feel almost like a disinterested Observer myself.  I think part of it is I know the series is over and I've sort of detached myself from it so I won't care too much after the last episode airs...I think this especially kicked in after the death of Etta.  But I do feel all the things I really loved about the show are missing from the majority of this season's episodes.

Well I am confused about a couple things. 1. How come Olivia doesn't use her powers. She talked about it last night, did she lose them? 2. A couple of ep ago when Peter killed one of the O's the guy said Peter did not realize what he was doing ( I took it as that Peter would become "Adam" or first O's, that would lead to them) and there were couple of other things that he did that made it seem like this was important, but yet the yanked it out? Where is this going?

The Observer was talking about The behaviour that Peter was experiencing. I think now that Peter removed the chip, Windmark would think that Peter is going to foresee his act but thats not gonna happen so Peter wins.

Yeah that was about where my head was at too. And it wasn't one of those moments that made me feel happy that the show was keeping me guessing.
It took me out of the moment to think; what the? Don't they even know where they are going with this?
I hope I'm wrong and it proves to be a great move in hindsight. As far as the complete arc goes.
Otherwise it was a nice moment for the characters.

Yeah, I think the detachment to lessen the pain of the finale is definitely playing a part, but there is just...something off. I'm glad I'm not the only one :)

Olivia lost her powers at the end of season 4 when she was shot. All of the cortexiphan in her system was used up to heal herself. This massively bums me out, because if there's been one common thread throughout the seasons, it's been Olivia's powers. I hope there's some way she gets them back, but that doesn't seem likely, at this point.

I took it to be a comment about how Peter was really misguided- When he put the chip in, he said he'd be 10x the man the Observer was with the added tech.  And in a way, he was kind of right because he was an awesome observer with his time-predicting skills and stuff.

But on the other hand, it was clear Peter was on an irreversible path to destroying his humanity...Eventually, he was just going to turn into another observer if he kept the chip in.

That's how I interpreted it anyway, although I did think it would be awesome if Peter = September or something like that.

I gotta disagree with people who don't like this season that much- I think it's been fantastic and a great way to end the show.  There's a lot of nice callbacks to Season 1, the Peter as observer mini-arc was great, as was the Etta arc, and Peter/Olivia has been great as well.

The time-travel is kind of weird but the show really makes it work...Classic sci-fi dystopian story with hat-tips to all kinds of classics- For example, this week was very matrix heavy lol, with the Oracle and the observer fight running up the wall.

If I have one complaint, it's that like usual Astrid is being pushed off to the side for no reason (crazy that the only time she really got an arc was the alternate universe "austrid"), and I'd like to see more Broyles and Nina Sharp too.

couldn't they get more of it? Would her with powers be a balance to the O's powers? but...

I thought so too, but they either mislead us, or they are just winging it. I did like how Peter seem more powerful then the O's and he and Olivia had kind of switch places, in that he was able to have some succes in defeating them, instead of have to be protected by her.

The Terry Gilliam/Monty Python tribute is by far the best part of what has been an otherwise dull season.
I was half paying attention until that whole sequence kicked in.
