If they can't afford the direwoles or horses, then I think the pig can be cut.

The pig is not important, what is important is a way for Tyrion to let go and let himself be humiliated, to live the life of an ordinary dwarf who doesn't have the power of the Lannister to stop anyone. Though I'm not sure how costly it would be to showcase a pig, I mean comparatively to dogs/wolves/horses who are just bigger and have more of a mind of their own than a housepig ;)

Though Penny also has a dog, which again might be difficult to train for the show (which you can't show as a whole in the show anyways), so yes, I think they can cut the show with pretty pig and whatever the dog is called again. Or rather, replace it with another "circus" show that Peter Dinklage can sell and works on screen ;)

The dog is called crunch I believe

Penny has to stay in the story as she's a catalyst for Tyrion to break out of his drunken depression. If they split (and reorganize) AFFC and ADWD into 2 series then she only really needs to enter the story in the second of these series once Jorah captures Tyrion. I doubt she's going to do much in the TWOW, but maybe I'll be surprised.

No, they can't get rid of the pig!  It's integral to Penny's character, and if they take it out the story will be ruined!  I can't believe D+D would disrespect the story so much that they would cut out the pig and replace it with some cliche "circus tricks" to use instead!! Penny will be a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT character and Tyrion's whole story will be thrown out of wack, with disastrous consequences for the whole saga!!

They can have a pig and dog for the PW and then have them produce a new pig and dog for the death games - and skirt over the fact that they need to be trained animals, so we have no animals in the middle.

This series falls in the genre of epic fantasy, not how-to-dissolve-any-possible-epicness fantasy.

Says the man who suggests removing the young conqueror with three pet dragons. Seriously, this confuses me.

I hope they dont cut Penny. I really enjoyed reading her scenes she is so sweet and innocent, which is a breath of fresh air in asoiaf.
But concerning Tyrion in ADWD what I am really looking forward is his inteactions with Jorah.

I also hope she stays in, but I REALLY hope they don't make her so naive in the show as she is in the books.

Cut everythign from Dany's storyline. Nothing happens across the next 3 books. Dany walks, dany steals an army, dany walks, dany attacks a town, dany walks dany walks dany walks dany walks Blah blah blah mother of dragons blah yawn, filler filler filler filler filler, tyrion going to dany filler filler filler filler, martells heading to dany filler filler filler filler, iron islanders heading to dany filler filler filler, everyoen arrives, but dany flew away with one dragon filler filler filler.

The entire dany storyline is filler, and wasted paper.

Don't worry I'm sure D+D will come with many awesome and well written sex scenes for Emilia Clarke, just look at season 2 how well they manage to give her as many screentime as possible

D&D know the main plot points and ending at its envisioned now, so they may cut out plotlines wholesale. What we can't for see is how important are the Dornes, the mercenaries, the greyjoys, the zombie people, etc.  Much of this may be cut out - reading the books I felt i needed to take notes after the third book.

The Tywin/Shae/Tyrion will definitely be episode 9 of season 4. The show continues to hint that she sleeps her way to the top, this is the logical progression.

Talisa will be married off as the queen of winterfell. From what we know now, that plot point is to get back Theon and motivate Jon. I'm sure there are ways to do that.

I think they are going to struggle with Dany.

In the tv show I think it's pretty clear that she genuinely loves Tyrion.

Dany is going to be difficult but not nearly as bad as most people think. As much as people prefer the action and the big events, Dany has a lot of character growth to go through and that can be interesting.

I think you're right.  I also don't think that matters very much as far as the outcome of their story is concerned.

It will work on the show because the Tyrion/Sansa betrothal and marriage will be a development that will devastate and embitter her whereas in the books, she barely batted an eye because the Tyrion relationship was more of a business deal for her that she wasn't as emotionally invested in.  Completely different deal on the show especially since she has already offered Tyrion the option of running away with her to Pentos.  Tyrion's decision to stay in King's Landing and follow through with his father's wishes to marry Sansa will be seen by Shae as a rejection of him to live in happiness with her in order for Tyrion to retain some of his power and continue to "play the game".  Not to mention that Tyrion is now going to be married to the one girl that Shae has been able to get close to, that's another kick to the gut for her.  There's your reason for her later betrayal.

All of these developments will be given more priority than they were in the books and is probably one of the reasons why the actual Tyrion/Sansa wedding will not happen until the 8th episode.

The outcome will be the same but the emotional road to there will be different (and also really good)

Yeah I think it will actually be more powerful on the show than it was in the books.

Just rewatched the season 2 finale and it occured to me that Loras hasn't been named to the Kingsguard. That means they are keeping that back and so I guess that Sansa will get her wish for nearly marrying Loras ;) Just makes sense, keeps the one Tyrell we know (instead of the cripple that is off page) and ties in Loras better as a character that's there from season 1 onwards.

I'm now more and more convinced that Sansa will be our focal character for Kings Landing (and thus the whole series) in season 3. She's involved with Tyrion and Shae, will have part of the Joffrey-Margaery-Lady Olenna-Cersei thing, will have scenes with Loras (understanding that he's gay but that she's okay with that as long as she's in Highgarden, just as in the books with Willas and him being a cripple) and she might even have a scene with Tywin as well. She's also tied to Ros and thus the Varys/Littlefinger/(Pycelle) plot. She's basically the one character interacting with every other character in Kings Landing.

When the time comes in season 5/6 where Quentyn Martell gets burned alive, I hope that he dies right there and then. No waiting around for three days for him to die.

I always found it stupid that he survived the initial burning.

Yes, but unfortunately the show is not really good at showing character growth about her as of season 2. It was excellent in the first one, though.

I think this is a good idea. There are too many Tyrell brothers to mention them all in the show. And you found a good reason why Loras was not named into KG.
