I dvr'd this last night but haven't watched it yet. I loved AHS last season; the cast was fantastic and Jessica Lange was stellar as Blanche.

She was awesome last season, I'd love to see her again.
She is, I guess starting in episodes 4-5. Also, for Deadwood fans, the amazing Ian McShane will also be guest starting in episodes 8-9.

I liked the premiere. All the what-the-fuckery I need for a Wednesday night. The asylum is creepy enough without the nuns or the mad scientist but you can never have too much of those. Being committed/confined against my will for nefarious and malicious purposes has always been one of my greatest irrational fears as well, so its hard not to be unsettled by the whole thing.

Even Dylan McDermott will be in one episode. I nearly crysturbated.

EDIT: Whoops, didn't see the above poster. So they are going for totally unrelated seasons? I kind of like that idea. As someone else mentioned it could really help to keep it fresh as time goes on.

Really, it's genius to have stand-alone seasons. It tells a story and moves on, leaving you wanting more.

I wouldn't say it's "genius". It's refreshing sure, but it's also kind of a cop-out. There are tons of things from the first season that needed to be explained. It's easy to come up with a bunch of random stuff, it's not quite as easy to come up with an explanation that makes sense for it. E.g. Lost.
I felt pretty comfortable with the fact that everything pretty much got wrapped up...what wasn't answered?
