I hope "Misty Mountains" is a full rendition of the song, and not just the 35 second or whatever clip from the trailer. That alone would be worth the price of the album.
Ack. Crowded House.

Would it be better or worse if they instead sang in a capella "Misty Mountain Hop" by Zeppelin?

You can also now listen to the end-credits song, "The Song of the Lonely Mountain"by Neil Flynn of Crowded House (again, ack.)
Actually it isn't as horrible as I had expected. Sort of "Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold" reworked and changed up a bit. Despite exceeding my expectations, though, its kind of lame. They should have brought Emiliana Torrini back (she did Gollum's Song, the end credits to The Two Towers). methinks. Although perhaps her voice isn't suited for the less-serious Hobbit.
I really hope this doesn't mean we won't get the dwarven rendition in full. All the dwarven actors have better damn voices than Neil Flynn.

As I recall, there is a separate track on the soundtrack. And it even says "performed by the Dwarven cast". So looks like that is definitely on the soundtractk..
I don't like the end credits song though.

I don't know if anyone else saw this but the soundtrack was posted for streaming at Empire. http://www.empireonl...y.asp?NID=35757
Bad thing is that if you pause it, it will restart from the beginning, so once you start you can't stop (just like Pringles).
And the end credits song is horrible. Totally doesn't keep the style or sound of the rest of the score. The credit songs for all three LOTR movies were good (with Gollum's Song being far and away the best); but the one for The Hobbit is horrible.

I really like the Hobbit end credits song, more than the LOTR end credit ones (Into The West is a close second). It captures the dwarfish spirit really well, and I love that anvilesque sound going on in the background. I think it deserves an Oscar, definitely.

That was a bit pants, and I used to be a fan of Crowded House.
