LOL I knew that was coming, I'm just not that excited about the idea though. Really. Tell me why you think Tyrion would make a good counselor to Dany?

He already served as Hand of the King. he is witty and clever; with a keen mind. He organized the defence of Kings Landing and held off Stannis Baratheon. He has much the same bleak cynical attitude and worldly advice as Jorah to offset Daenerys nieve chaotic goodness. He knows a bit about dragonlore. He is good with sellswords and Dany is going to have a lot of them. Tyrion is an organiser and a builder. Having him will be an excellent asset for Danys cause.

As long as he doesn't do anything stupid and get the hots for Daenerys. Then gets mad when she slaps him down. I can see them getting along and her not being quite as fussed about his appearence. Enough to befriend him.

I also think Tyrion would be a huge asset for Dany.  He knows much about the ways of war in Westeros and he wants to see his family fall from power.

Not him, but Ser Barristan might.

I think Jorah will live as he is a strong and capable soldier, and he will hear from Sam about his father's last words.

I don't want Barristan to die either. The issue of serving Aerys aside, he is honorable and compassionate man. He should at least live long enough to learn about R+L=J.

I want him to survive Fire, then later in the book take the black and become Lord Commander, following in his father's footsteps.

THEN... should he die, it'll be under the Night's Watch.

Hm...I'm buying into it a bit more now, this is all granted that Tyrion watches his tongue and knows his place. Wise counsel is often filled with harsh truths, Tyrion does not have a history of holding his tongue when it serves him best.

I believe that Dany will bring Jorah's body/bones with her when she goes to Westeros. She said previously she couldn't give him Lynesse but she could give him his home back.

I don't see Jorah dying at all, actually, now that I see this topic and think about it.

Similar to my thoughts on Sweetrobin and Dolorous Edd (and possibly Lancel and Theon).  Their lives are too miserable to end.  Unable to go home, permanently lovesick in vain, a shameful embarrassment to his (now dead) father, now seemingly without a purpose and suffering one of the more fitting punishments seen in the series (once a slaver, now sold into slavery himself).

I think GRRM's well of inspiration runs deep when it comes to putting Jorah through the ringer.  And that will keep him around.

I am a major Jorah fan and would be very happy to see them settle down on Bear island (with a big red door).

I would like Jorah to have a son to whom Jon can give longclaw.  The living child that Dany will have

I think Jorah survives the war and returns to Westeros at Dany's side with a full pardon.  I don't however think he will return to Bear Island, instead staying by Dany's side possibly as a member of her KG.  If he was to have a child I believe he would possibly go North with it for a shrt while.

Yeah, but he isn't dead, and it isn't like he got Theon'd, either. I'd rather be Jorah than Ned Stark right now.

I dont think he will make it back to Westeros, I wouldnt be surprised if he were to die either trying to reach Dany or when in her service. I would prefer if he did survive and yet dying a "heroic" death wouldnt be a bad ending for Jorah. I mean he is close to 50 and sooner or later his age is going to catch up to him, better go out when on top..

Not likely, none of the characters that I want dead die. Ever.

No. He'll come back and join the watch. Just like his father wanted.

His father wanted it, true, but does Jorah? While he would probably do well in the NW, providing it still exists when/if Dany reaches Westeros, I am not so sure he would take the black even if it was his fathers dying wish.

Absolutely not -- Tyrion's only interested in a way of getting back at his family and laying his hands on Casterly Rock.  Imo, Tyrion will only give Dany advice that advances his own interests and I can see him trying to undermine her other counselors to get ahead.  It seems to me that Daario would be a perfect target of Tyrion's nasty wit (assuming he's still alive) and I can see Tyrion going after him and causing all sorts of trouble.  I also can't imagine Barristan welcoming the Imp with open arms.  I firmly believe that Tyrion was sent to Dany to (1) be killed, because Varys' doesn't want a smart Lannister in Westeros, or (2) to cause chaos in Dany's camp.

Regarding the Others and Bear Island:  if it gets cold enough to kill whenever the Others appear, it also probably gets cold enough to freeze salt water.  All they have to do is walk across the ice (or ride their white spiders).

It's amazing how many different takes people have on Tyrion.  Understandable given the complexity of his character.  I think he would work out much better than you give him credit for.  If Varys had wanted  Tyrion dead he wouldn't have gone to the incredible trouble of sending him to Illyrio.  Varys knows how smart Tyrion is and what a brilliant strategist he is.

Dark Sister is described as being a slender blade, while Longclaw is a bastard sword. Unfortunately the size between the two doesn't match, Longclaw would be a similar size to Blackfyre which was also a bastard sword. Also its less personal if Mormont lied and gave Jon just some random Valyrian steel sword found in the fire.
