Feedback Wanted on New Application

For various reasons, we are going to revert to requiring a concept in the application for non-CGed characters. We are finding that a key problem with a lot of recent CGs are that they seem to involve players finding a neat idea or a particular asset and flaw and then trying to build everything around that in a very artificial way. As such, we feel that we need a way to address these issues at the application stage and give people a chance to consider their concept before they start selecting assets and flaws.

This is what we have so far for the concept guidelines. Thoughts?

Please provide a brief concept for your character, taking into account any pre-existing information about the character as well as the relevant IC history. Follow the step-by-step guide below or cover the same points in a format of your own choosing:

What kind of person is your character?

What were the key formative experiences for your character?

What kind of role do you see for your character on the game?

What are your character's main goals in life?

Nothing wrong with this at all. It's almost always a better idea to encourage or make people think more deeply about who their characters are going to be, what drives them and so on. As it is, it shouldn't take too long to do and if it requires clearance first it'll give staff an easier way to keep tabs on concepts or perhaps builds that could be overdone.

Yup, sounds like a good idea. Rather than just picking a name off the Houses list and making it up as you go, you really have to think about what you want play, and which character that would be best suited to.

Also a nice, easy way of letting a player know if a certain concept is going to be turned down nice and early, rather than after the somewhat difficult CG stage.
