Daenerys' moon blood and Mirri Maz Duur

Is it possible that her period of barenness is over? "When the sun rises in the west" has happened, and you could argue that Quentyn set in the east.

I base these thoughts on her unexpected and extremely heavy menstrual blood, and the oft-cited G.R.R.M. quote about the gentleman who was told he would die in the shadow of a certain building, went out of his way to stay away from it, and then was killed beneath an inn's carved sign that depicted that building.

Prophecies are twisty, and I think that Mirri Maz Duur's curse doesn't mean exactly it seems to mean.

Thoughts?

It certainly is possible. Recalling the TV series last episode, Dany never sits in or actually touches the Iron Throne which is BTW, covered in Snow-- hint, hint. The empty Wintery courtroom with the burnt ceiling might indicate a battle between Ice and Fire taking place at King's Landing. But then Dany then goes to the wall, finds Drogo and her child there while we all know the Warlocks mean this as a distraction hoping to bind her in a dream, why would they have her go the Wall? Might this be some part of prophecy the warlocks themselves are not actually controlling? At some point Danerys and the Dragons will be forced to go the Wall to help defend against the Others, is it not likely she would meet Jon Snow there? That is if somehow he manages to live or is resurrected. Would he not then be her new Sun and Stars?

This is tenuous speculation on my part, at best, not yet born out by the books but if GRRM meant Dany to remain barren why dwell on the fact she's menstruating? It might mean nothing but this fits with also with Quentin, the Sun's son dying in the East, and if Arrianne rises in the West. Then meeting up with the Dothraki again (going backwards to go forwards as Quaithe said.). So we are dealing with several prophecies regarding Dany and Quaithe's have been born out so far and so have Mazur's if one looks at them from a different perspective.

But only the next book will truly clue us where we may eventually end up.

Sun rising in the west and setting in the east-- the Quentyn thing

Sea going dry-- Victarion joining R'hllor or the Dothraki sea

Mountains blowing in the wind like leaves-- Ser Gregor "the Mountain" dying and being resurrected

Totally agree..

When I read that Daenerys chapter I also tought that the course had been lifted... Maybe it has something to do with the fact that this happened after the first time she rode Drogon...

Reading that chapter, I thought Dany was going through a miscarriage rather than just having her moon blood. A miscarriage would surely suggest that she is fertile, though she still isn't going to have a living child.

About Quentyn and Arianne: I've never thought of this interpretation of MMD's words, though I have always been sure that what she said would come true somehow. Thanks for sharing the idea! (That's the best thing about this forum.) However, MMD does not say when Dany will have a child again, but when Drogo will return to her. So if all the other things have come true, she will still have to have a living child and then she will know that "Drogo" has returned. Of course, if the other elements of the "prophecy" (or whatever it is) come true, it makes it practically certain that Dany will bear a living child, too.

But then, what is the significance of Dorne in Dany's story? How about the other characters MMD's words may refer to?

Tentative suggestion: I like the idea that the seas going dry could be Victarion joining R'hallor ... but perhaps it might also be the seas freezing when real winter comes.

I wonder if Gregor alone represents the mountains (plural) in the wind, but since the next book is called "The Winds of Winter", it is possible that this part of the prophecy will come true there.

When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east - Quentyn

When the seas go dry - The Dothraki Sea, lush and green in Dany's AGOT chapters have begun to wilt and dry out in Dany's last couple chapters; Winter IS coming afterall.

And mountains blow in the wind like leaves - In a Dany or Barristan ADWD chapter, after dragons have been set loose on Meereen, they burn out the summit of one or two of the mountain sized pyramids. Dany or Barry compare the ash and debris floating from the pyramids to leaves.

When your womb quickens again - It SEEMS Dany's heavy flow could be a sign of her womb quickening once again.

...and you bear a living child - ??? MAYBE the dragons?

Then he (Drogo) will return, and not before - ??? MAYBE this is referring to a new Khal. Khal Jhaqo finds Dany standing next to Drogon Or maybe something else completely. I haven't the faintest clue.

Just my 2 cents. Hope this helps.
