What's your favourite moment from the book that isn't in the show?

And also vice versa; favourite moment from the show that isn't in the books.

In the books I liked Maester Cressen's prologue that showed Stannis properly for the first time.

And in the show I liked Arya's conversations with Tywin, and Cersei and Robert;s conversation about the Targaryens and Lyanna. Cersei is overall more likeable in the show.

Favourite moment from the show that doesn`t apper in the books is when 2 Lannister soldiers are talking about who is the best fighter in Westeros. One of them says Loras Tyrell, then the other one says "The Knight of Flowers?! He`s been stabing lord Renly for years and he`s not dead"

Arya`s escape from Harenhall was better in the books

I'm annoyed that LF was given the Hound's lines in the show. Especially Sandor telling Sansa about how his face was burned. I also hate the scene in Sansa's room after Sandor leaves the Battle of the Blackwater. I was totally disappointed they softened Sandor and Sansa didn't sing for him.

However, I loved the Hound's lines to Tyrion and Joffrey in the show: "Fuck the Kingsguard, fuck the city, fuck the king."

Not a particular moment, but show Stannis is way more likable than book Stannis. I loved the "Thousands [will die]. Come with me and take this city" scene.

besides obvious ones like the Tower of Joy memory or the House of the Undying, i would say Jon's ranging with the Halfhand

i also agree with you on Tywin. all the added Tywin scenes were awesome (him and jaime, him and arya for example)

Yep agree with above. Jon and the Halfhand being chased by the wildlings and their epic fight in order to convince the wildlings that Jon has turned traitor. Handled so much better in the book than in the show where it didn't even make any sense.

My favourite scene from the show that isn't in the books is the part in the first season with Robert, Jaime and Selmy talking about their first kills.

Favourite moment from the book not in the show was of course Renly's peach, obvious but tasteful symbolism.

Several scenes from the show, Robert Jaime and Barristan's conversation about first kills springs to mind. But my favourite was probably Jorah Mormont preventing Viserys from stealing the dragon eggs, I absolutely love Iain Glen's acting in that scene.

The show made Jon look stupid in the entire second season. We know that in the books Halfhand picked Jon to "kill" Ygritte because he knew that he wouldn`t do it. The show made Jon look like a fool, and not only that but the other NW members die because of him and they don`t have the herioc ends that they had in the book.

Pretty much all of Season 2 GOT applies to moments from the book that were great that didn't make it to the show. Jon/Qhorin, HOTU, Scene after Blackwater with Sansa/Sandor, Weasel Soup, there will be no "Where is Beric" (stab), Is there gold in the village (stab)... etc. It goes on and on with Season 2 GOT.

As for moments on the TV show not in the books, I liked the Cersei/Robert scene from Season 1 that sort of just laughs at how their marriage is the only thing holding the realm together.

Has to be Ned's dream sequence about the Tower of Joy after the attack on him by Jaime and his men. Its just full of intrigue and questions that need answers and have made more then its fair share of debate on these forums and theres something about the short dialogue between him and the 3 Kingsguard that I really enjoyed.

I'd add The Battle of the Green Fork. Enjoyable battle, GRRMs first real description of a battle and a sign of bigger & better battles that was to come later.

I missed the HOTU scenes from the book. I didn't like the version they did on the show, though I understand why they gutted it like they did.

I also missed all of Jon and the Halfhand's interactions from the book. Qhorin in the book gave Jon a lot of important lessons, 'protecting the realm is more important than our honor', being a central one that has colored almost all of Jon's actions since.

I missed Jojen and Meera's interactions w/ Bran. They will be in next season at least.

I missed "promise me, Ned." It's the central mystery of the series, I wish they would have kept some aspect of it. I'm not sure how they will introduce that idea later in the series. One of the Reed's maybe? Or perhaps Bloodraven.

I got a feeling that's the fault of Charles Dance, who is in general, extremely awesome.

I could watch an hour of just Dance and Maisie easy.

I wish they had included Renly's peach but the line they went with ("Born between salt and smoke? Is he a ham?") was pretty good.

I loved Bronn and Co. singing the Rains of Castamere, the Spice Merchant of Qarth, Charles Dance andd that bit in season one when Robert is going on about the good old days till Renly tells him off.

Which days exactly? When one half of Westeros fought the other half while millions died? Or before that, when the Mad King killed off women and babies because the voices in his head told him they deserved it? Or way before that, when dragons burnt whole cities to the ground? I suppose it was all rather heroic – if you were drunk enough and had some poor Riverlands whore to stuff your prick inside and make the eight!

I agree about the House of the Undying and Drogon burning it all.

I got a feeling that's the fault of Charles Dance, who is in general, extremely awesome.

Those scenes were awesome and so is Charles Dance. P.S. I also like the Varys/Littlefinger scenes in the show because it gives a major hint for these two being the big power players manipulating everything.

Oh yes, also the lack of Qhorin Halfhand in the show did bother me a great deal.
