The great mystery called Sandror's and Gregor's sister

Recommended Posts

A sister he "barely" remembers indicates that Sandor was probably very young when she died. He might not have any idea why she died either. It does make sense that Gregor had something to do with it, or that Sandor thinks he does, and it's certainly open for speculation.

If the sister was older, maybe Gregor made sure she was married to one of his friends and the guy killed her, so Sandor blames Gregor for it.

Would be interesting if all these years Sandor has hated his brother for something regarding their sister's death and it turns out Gregor had nothing to do with it. There's your gray on Gregor, not that he's a great guy, but he's not as bad as we all thought. Maybe it was her death that severed his last chance of being a decent person.

Mini-theory: Lady Clegane died giving birth to her only daughter. The baby, who looked just like her mother, was the last link to the only person who had ever truly understood Gregor. And when his little sister died, it was like losing his mother all over again. That's when he closed himself off from love and began punishing the world for its unfairness, trying to make everyone else hurt as much as he did.

Well, either way it could refer to the sister.

The Hound told Sansa that a man in the village made "marvelous toys" that had joints that were joined by string so they moved. Gregor received the knight and Sandor received something else, he didn't seem to remember. He said he was playing with the knight and the whole time he was worried about Gregor finding him with his toy, which Gregor did and we know what happened next. So no, there was no mention of a sister in that story.
