Will there be a Kindle version?

Recommended Posts

Well, I'm sure you can buy a Kindle edition, but I'm not sure how it will look on an E-ink kindle device. How does the kindle usually handle books with full color illustrations and such?

Depends on the illustration. Kindles display 16 shades of grey, so images in a wide range of colours and lighting display well, but images on a single colour palett or with low contrast can get confusing.

The illustrations look fantastic, but what really interests me is the text, so I wouldn't mind too much getting a kindle version even if some illustrations become somewhat poor. I just want to know if there will be a kindle option at all, for importing a physical book would be too onerous.

Though I suppose it's better to have this kind of book printed, for obvious reasons, a kindle edition isn't a bad idea. When you buy a kindle book you're not limited to the e-ink device, you can read the books on your computer, tablet etc. So you can read the text in your kindle and check images and whatnot in high resolution on a big, full HD screen. And if you just can't wait to get your hands on it, you don't have to wait for delivery (I live in Brazil so it would take some time to get here, also postal costs are expensive).

But yes. I own the novels in kindle format, but this one I'll probably buy the regular version.

I know someone whose Kindle has 50 shades of grey on it

I see what you did there *applause*

I have a Kobo e-reader which functions like a plain book in that I can read it in sunlight. The maps included in the front of ASoIaF books are pretty good but if I was to buy the World book I would probably by a hard copy so I can see the maps etc full size.
