About to start reading, is it that bad?

It depends what you get most out of ASoIaF. Feast has no Jon, Dany, or Tyrion which turned people off it a bit. Also had a lot more newly introduced POV characters which took some time to get used to and really connect with them the first half of the book. I enjoyed the Cersei, Jaime, and Brienne stuff. It was slower paced with not as much action as the previous books, but doesn't deserve any hate.

It's a matter of personal opinion. For me, this a good book and I love reading

Cersei POVs.

This is not as action packed as ASOS but it's also very interesting to meet new characters and know what's up in Westeros after the Wot5K. Just read the book and enjoy and don't let the bad reviews spoil your reading experience.

Not that bad at all, in my opinion. Apart from the Cersei POVs (which I enjoyed the most), though, it adapts a slower pace to the previous parts. As said above, some of the more key characters (Jon, Dany, Tyrion) are absent here - hence people calling AFfC dull; instead you'll be reading further about Jaime's path to redemption, Brienne's wanderings, Samwell & Maester Aemon, the Iron Islanders, and, my favourite, Arya.

Don't worry, sh*t still hits the fan.

I'm almost finished reading it and i'm actually enjoying it, a lot. Of course the lack of Tyrion, Dany, Jon.. pulls it down a bit, but overall it's really good bc u get to know new characters and visit other parts of Westros. The characters we already do know have some really good chapters too :) You should look forward to it!

I just started the book recently as well. I'd say I'm almost halfway through and so far, I love it. I don't understand all the hate I've found on the internet for it. Sure, it doesn't have ASoS pace or anything, but it's fantastic writing (to me probably some of the best pure writing in the series so far) great character/world building and the new POV's are great.

I was scared coming into this book. I thought I was going to have to drag myself through it. But It's a great read, like I said, do NOT understand all the hatred for this online.

AFFC is not bad by any stretch of the imagination. What it does is serve to advance the narrative and it does a very good job of that. It is a step down from FFC in terms of action and emotion, but it was always going to be.

Agreed. A Feast for Crows is a great book but it doesn't quite live up to A Feast for Crows.

Well thanks everyone :)

I just started reading it and so far so good!

I think a lot of the negativity comes from bitterness. From people who read the book when it was published, found it to be very unfulfilling, and waited five years for the next book when GRRM said it would be out in only one.
