Which character do you wish had stayed dead and why?

Jon of the Dead

For me it's Mance. Not because I don't like him, but because the way it was done was so contrived and out of the blue. Suddenly Mel comes in all Jesse Pinkman like "It's a glamour, bitch!"

At least GRRM does a fancy job of explaining the glamour without outright saying "shapeshifting"

And I hope Mance has some other purpose other than to sit in a cage wearing human skin cloaks, because otherwise what's the point?

What about you?

Gregor. The evil bastard everyone hates died painfully. Yay! Now he's back again. No!

If Gregor doesn't count, because he apparently is undead rather than alive, Cat. I suppose it's good that she's getting vengeance etc. but think of Arya. She accepted that her mother is dead, and now she may find out that she's a hideous, vengeful zombie who can't speak.

I get you, I have especial hatred for UnCat, but the reason I didn't pick her was because at least we had seen that Thoros could resurrect people before. However, the glamour thing came out of left field for me. But yes, I hate UnCat

Aegon I think was the real "wtf moment". Before he was revealed did anyone see that coming?

Agree about UnCat, what a way to ruin a well-written, realistic character

Catelyn. Her resurrection is just an opportunity to fulfill her personal wish of vengeance. It doesn't further the story since the BwB could easily take up hurting/killing Freys (it makes more sense to kidnap them and demand ransoms to fund the cause since they're supposedly based on the Robin Hood gang) without her influence or "leadership."

I'll go with a lot of people here and say Catelyn. Her death was so tragic, but it was amazing writing. I kind of feel like its less tragic now that she's been resurrected.

Agree, it was like Hamlet, only here Gertrude comes back as a zombie to seek Claudious' distant relatives and hang them
