Anyone else notice the parallels between the WWF's Kane and Undertaker and ASOIAF's Sandor and Gregor Clegane?
Sandor and Kane younger brothers burned by their vicious older brother. Undertaker and Gregor Undead badasses who generally cause mayhem (assuming that Gregor is Robert Strong)...Is this a common plot device, pure coincidence or did GRRM rip off of the WWF?
Thoughts?
Also can you think of other WWF characters who may have ASOIAF counterpart? I'm thinking Mankind=Patchface?

As much as I would love to talk wrestling and ASOIAF in the same breath, I doubt this thread will last long. Ned Stark is equivalent to Dean Malenko though.

Hahahaha this is great. Though GRRM started writing ASOIAF in the early 90's and the Undertaker didn't start doing his thing until like 91 or 92 and dude that played Kane started using that persona in 97...I think GOT was already out at that point.

Yeah, well, wait until some of the vets start posting...it'll be snarky remark after snarky remark. /devil.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

You never know though, it wouldn't surprise me if certain wrasslers were inspired by literature..maybe even GRRM, though if something like that were popular now it would be a riff on the tv show and would be horribly cheesy.

Don't be ridiculous.

Vince McMahon ripped off ASOIAF. It's obvious.

One of his writers may have been a fan.

Qyburn as Paul Bearer ? (he's been paired with Gregor instead of the burned Kane-ish Hound brother, but Qyburn may switch loyalties during the brothers' fight if he realizes he's created too much of a monster and Strong needs to be put down).

Also Loras Tyrell = Sean Michaels.

Varys would be a mix of Golddust and Paul Bearer.

Jerry "The King" Lawler would be Aegon the Unworthy without a doubt.

Strong Belwas is Rafiki

Rikishi. /cheers.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Rafiki is the elder mandrill from The Lion King.

Also, perhaps Vince gave GoT a read and decided to emulate? I would have never thought to draw the parallel, but it's actually quite striking.
