Brooklyn Nine Nine [SPOILERS]

Sci-2

I really enjoy this show.

I love the dynamic between Sandberg and the Captain. Its well done and the captain is funny in a simple way.

I feel all the characters have a nice chemistry and interact real well. I especially like terry Crewes. The episode when he was putting together the dollhouse was great.

This is the only new show I've ended up watching. I wasn't 100% sold after the first couple of episodes, but Episode 4 convinced me to put it on permanent rotation. The cast is a pretty good mix and they've been able to play off each other to good effect. The only weak link, in my opinion, is Chelsea Peretti's character. I feel like she doesn't mesh all that well with the rest of the cast and none of the plots involving her get me to laugh.

Overall it feels like they've managed to find a sweet spot between the 'Office Comedy' model of The Office and Parks and Recreation and the police procedural. I think it's a good thing that a lot of the cases they're working on are throwaways/side plots rather than the main attraction, because that side of things has been done to death elsewhere.

What? No love for Gina? I think she's hilarious.

On the subject of the cast, it's amazing how different they all are while maintaining such great chemistry. Stephanie Beatriz (Diaz) is a bigger badass than anyone on Shield could hope to be.

It actually beat New Girl in ratings this week, so I think it's safe. Which is good, because this is one of only two of the new network shows that I'm still watching. I really like how disparate the personalities are which should help keep things fresh (like the early season of The Office). I agree with Sir Thursday that Chelsea Peretti's character doesn't really fit, hopefully they either figure her out (and it seems like they're trying) or cut her completely.

I kept thinking the Captain was Bunny from the Wire. He isn't.

Heh. Me too. He was the captain on Last Resort, though.

Someone in another thread, I think, made the comment that the the police department in this show is better than Miami Metro (from Dexter). I'm just imagining an episode where they introduce the department's creepy blood spatter analyst, then there's evidence of a serial killer on the loose, but they figure out that it's the blood guy and solve it within one 30-minute episode.

 .

She can be really hit or miss for me. Sorta like Schmidt from new girl. Good moments but a lot of botches.

To be expected from the biggest member of the cast

The Captain (Andre Braugher) is from Homicide Life on the Street, he played Det. Frank Pembleton. David Simon, creator of the Wire, was a producer and writer for this show. It was also based upon a book he wrote. (So not that far from the Wire!)

Drunk Jace here. WHATTUP!?!

I think that from now on I'm gonna drink when I watch this show. Hilarious.

Andy Samburg was improved this episode. I've felt since his days with SNL that's he's one of the funniest people on earth in small doses, and one of my favorite things about this show early was that they kept him in said 'small doses', but he was good this time around. But that could just be my floppiness.
