  1. 1. Explain the plot hole in Dorne. There isn't one, but I want to see you try. 2. How was Winterfell pointless? 3. Mereen was a fucking travesty in the book. 4. Don't need to get into the worse sexism and worse "shock scenes" that specific booksprovided.
  2. Put it this way, I was dreading this season because I didn't want to have to put up with Tyrion being depressed, Brienne wandering around aimlessly, not getting any resolutions to any of the conflicts, Sansa in the Vale not doing much, Dorne sucking, etc. And they found a way to boil it all down to it's essential bits and kept it going at a MUCH faster pace. Some of the parts like Dorne still sucked. Brienne still didn't do much, but at least I didn't have to watch her not do much while I had to read a couple hours of it. They actually showed me the battle of Hardhome and gave me some resolution to Stannis vs the Boltons without reading about it in a letter. The bits that had to be boring weren't overbearing and dragged out. So yeah compared to the book it was more tolerable. And I actually like those two books, but fuck did I not want to watch the worst of it. Didn't need it. Could something's been done a little better? Yeah of course. But damn are some of these complaints so unrealistic and just completely unwilling to accept ANY change.
  3. Ughh the dog involvement maybe. The scars and bruises. Theon involvement (not just watching). Also tbh I didn't need a season of Tyrion being depressed. Got more than enough of that in the books. As far as I'm concerned we got two episodes of him and Dany to cut into that dragged out nonsense and he's back on pace. We also already have proof that Jamie isn't a complete asshole. We didn't need a rape scene to confirm it. We also already know how LF is cruel bastard from him betraying Ned, sending Roz to be killed, we didn't need a young girl to be forced into sex work to do it. Yeah most of those were completely disgustingly unnecessary to prove the point they were trying to make. There's a difference between GRRM saying "yeah rape is a harsh reality of this world and even worse in times of war" and needing to shove rape into every spot he can fit it. In some cases yeah it makes sense. In a lot it's just there to be shocking and show how bad character x is.
  4. Well it doesn't really surprise me that you criticize the much tamer and fewer rapes in the show but want the more egregious ones from the book that were completely unnecessary.
  5. Everytime you guys get an argument against you, you just start nitpicking over something else. And you use plot holes and fan fiction out of definition as if you have point..
  6. Do me a favor, count how many rapes are in the books and count how many rapes are in the show. Also do you find the Jeyne Poole equivalent to the Sansa rape more tastefully done than in the show?
  7. Well in the books it's actually a shocking revelation that Stannis lost the battle. The reader didn't know what was going on there. So it was a last ditch all hope was lost moment. In the show it would have been kind of lame to have this big battle that was built all season reduced to a voiceover in a letter. So the letter itself would have lost it's shock. Also they've been building the NW being pissed at Jon about the Wildlings all season. So it worked fine enough.
  8. You do realize at the time he had no choice? Right? Robert was King, there was no indication that Robert would release him of his vows. And it was likely that Tywin would die before Robert. Tywin also continued to fight a war with the Starks when Jamie was captured. So your theory is still flawed. We have two examples of Tywin fighting people with one of his potential heirs captured. And Tywin was NOT going to be okay with having a bastard much less legitimizing one. Dorne is cool with bastards and cool with woman running the show. We also don't know if Doran has other heirs that exist.
  9. Only a very vocal minority feel that way. That's the thing. And a lot of it comes down to -an unwillingness to acknowledge some of the flaws of the book -an unwillingness to accept that you don't know what is and isn't happening in the books anymore (certain people derided every plot they didn't like as a change, then when one of them was revealed to be in the books, they freaked out for getting spoiled) -a lack of acknowledging the differences between the television medium and the book medium and why some things just don't work as well in television as they can in a book. As well as the limitations of one medium over another. -just a general dislike of seeing things changed -and then there are just people nitpicking looking for things to complain about and when they are given sufficient answers they just make subjective statements that you can't argue with like "it was unearned" when you know damn well if the same thing happened in the books they would jump through hoops to explain why it felt "earned" there and not in the show. Also I'd venture to guess most people on this site read the books. So it's not a book fan vs show fan thing. It's a certain book fans thing. And really it's nothing new in the world of book to screen adaptations.
  10. Once again you can legitimize one of the hundreds of Martell bastards running around Dorne.
  11. There's a very good chance that the Pink Letter was Stannis' death scene in the books. So no I think there is a very good chance they gave us enough. We saw an army that was clearly outnumbered charging into a force that was completely overwhelming. We saw the result of the carnage. Stannis got a few good licks in before someone who had a legitimate reason to kill him avenged Stannis' first sin on the show.
  12. First off NO that's not a plot hole. A plot hole is a some type of action (whether it's a missing event or an actual event) which renders another event impossible as a result. It's a missing element. Quite literally a hole in the plot. It makes another event impossible. By the way your whole logic falls apart with the fact that when Lysa held Tyrion hostage Tywin had his banners attack the Riverlands in retaliation. He was the heir to House Lannister at the time with no expectation that Jamie would ever be released of his vows. They still went to "war" (though in a smaller scale). Trystane whether he is executed or is a prisoner doesn't effect Dorne nearly as much because they can more easily legitimize a bastard, especially since they don't have the same stigma, furthermore it forces Doran's hand because without Myrcella there is nothing to be gained from the Lannister's. We also don't know if Dorne has anymore legitimate people in the line of succession anyways.
  13. They can have another heir. Dorne is filled with bastards related to the Martell's and they actually allow for female's to rule. Anyone of them could be legitimized. This is actually better than their plot because the Lannister's are liable to kill Trystane. Either Jamie or Cersie in a fit of rage or Tommen to avenge his sister. That forces Doran to retaliate. Why should Ellaria give one shit about Trystane when one of her kids could likely be legitimized and be the next heir. And she gets her revenge for Oberyn. It's all a win for her.
  14. Not a plot hole. They wanted to start a war. Ellaria was willing to go against Doran to do it. Her actual best case scenario is for them to retaliate with Trystane because that would force Doran's hand.
  15. The first one might be plot hole. That's about it. And that's assuming you hold the context of a member of an army saying all the horses are gone to mean that so literally that a few aren't lying around but not enough to support the host in any meaningful way. The rest.. no. Obviously anyone that close to Renly is going to have an overinflated opinion of Renly. We saw all the Harpies run out at the end of the last episode. Ellaria tearful pledged loyalty and begged forgiveness from Doran and extended an olive branch to Jamie. And the jump was kind of a damned if you were damned if you don't.
  16. You also have to realize that 10 is winning still and has been for awhile. Almost 50% of the people that voted gave it either a 10, 9, or 8. So the three highest scores take up half the vote. Then despite 1 being really high, only 35% of the vote gave it either a 1, 2, 3, 4. So the clear minority is giving it a below average score. And only around 30% is giving it the three lowest scores. So it's misleading to just say 1 and 10 are pretty close. It skews on the higher end.
  17. Kit Harrington also wouldn't most likely ruin his cliffhanger finale that JUST AIRED for an interview with EW. They aren't that important.
  18. I'm not cranky you just complained about plot holes and then had a full post of things that weren't even close to plot holes. And you're not the only one in this thread to do it. I wouldn't talk about intelligent offerings when you make a post about something, that something being plot holes, and you fail to list a single plot hole. Was this best episode ever? No. Like I said earlier, it's still a lot closer to being one of the better things on tv in the past week, than it is to being one of the worst. And atleast I find enjoyment from it. You're the one who apparently believes it's "drivel", thinks it's full of plotholes (but you can't list any that are actually plot holes) and yet you still watch it. So what's more intelligent, again?
  19. He's also talking about one scene in his show from like 4 years ago. While other people do get burned.
  20. That's what I thought. Technically the Dothraki shouldn't kill the widow of a Khal. But forget if that was only a thing they did in Vaes Dothrak or something.
  21. No this is some characters having different arcs from their books. There is a difference. Davos story right now is that he's the prized knight of a fallen king who got sent to the Wall where he knows there is about to be a huge battle.
  22. Again, some of you need to learn what plot holes actually are. Ellaria wanted to start a war between Dorne and the Lannisters without the consent of Doran. Do you think she gives a fuck about Trystane? If she was smart, she should hope Jamie kills him to incite a war. Ramsay's gf literally explained in the fucking scene that she could hurt Sansa however she wanted as long as it didn't prevent her from bearing children. She wasn't going to kill her or hurt her anywhere vital. She said as much. A tribe of Dothraki surrounding Dany is not a plot hole. He was bleeding out and in too much pain to resist the scarf, he didn't die faster because... Read up on stabbings. Unless you hit a vital area it could be a hellish long death. Yes show watchers probably remember Margeary's husband who made Brienne a member of his KG and died by the shadow monster that came out of Mel's vagina. He was kind of important. Anyways Stannis losing isn't a plot hole. It likely happened in the book already unless the Pink letter is a lie. Once again, no plotholes. and I'lll turn that around on you. Viewers who gave this a 1 clearly don't watch much tv and their gripes have more to do with the books
  23. The only person alive vying for the IT is Dany. So I don't think it will be much of a problem.
  24. Do you want to fork over millions of dollars for it? Cause the people that already bankroll this show are already offering an extremely generous budget. No other shows have anywhere close to this kind of production value.
