  1. "When the red star bleeds and the darkness gathers, Azor Ahai shall be born again amidst smoke and salt to wake dragons out of stone" I have been pondering over this prophesy for A while, and I don't think it's a literal prophesy, but a metaphorical one. when the red star bleeds- when war is rampant across all corners of the world, and the darkness gathers- the Others emerging and winter(shorting of daylight) comes, Azor Ahai shall be born again amidst smoke and salt- someone will be brought back to life amidst war (smoke) and peace talks (salt and bread) to wake dragons out of stone- maybe the power of Fire made flesh (a hero reborn of Fire magic) that is brought back from death (stone). Thoughts?
  2. Remember, only the top level of the crypts are accessible, and who knows how many levels there are below the cave in. The true crown was given to Aegon I, so it can't be that. Rheagars armor was at the Trident, and no Targ had had a dragon eggs in awhile. It's either (IMHO) the original Ice/Burning sword or its Rhaegars harp that he loved so much. It's make since its Rhaegars harp because he would have left it with Lyanna at ToJ, wanting her to have it since he was going off to war with Robert, and maaaaaybe ICE #1, if they clear the cave in and find it. Both would be significant as one explains Jons father and one maybe the rallying point (pun) of the North to back Jon in the coming icezombie apocalypse.
  3. All good points. I guess i wound up over looking some of those. Especially jaime and brienne, seeing as where they came from til now. Stark kids i guess, but that kinda seems more like, yeah their my family and i love them, but thats different then a husband/wife kinda love i.e. ned/cat reagar/lyanna or rob/jeyne type love. And yes, ice zombie apocalypse, wars of power, starvation, the long winter being here... but what does fighting and surviving all that mean if there is no one you love that your protecting or sacrificing for? Wait, i just had an epiphany... The major base of whats going on and why is love. Raegar fighting Robert, Ned sacrificing his honor for family, Cats retribution as LS, Jaimes love for Brienne to show her hes a honorable worthy man, oddly Cercei's love of her kids/self, Jons loves of his family, jorahs love for dany, Renly and Loras, hell even Tywins love for his wife/children/dynasty and oberyn love of his family and Ellaria, Tyrion and Tyena... Ok looks like im going to have to reread the series again, ive missed how interwoven things are.
  4. Oh cool, im new here and didnt know of the resource. Ill work on getting textual qoutes to back up my post. Thanks. And ive seen alot of hate for fan fiction, so just to put it put it out there, i like what grrm is doing with his story, on the whole, and by no means do i think that i know how to write about it better then him. Or that he should change his work to suit us. I appreciate the hard work hes done and is doing. However, i see no harm in fan fiction and making stories to live in his world of planetos. Just as he is influenced by great writers of his day, so are we.
  5. Thanks, it kind of just popped into a dream i had last night and i wanted to get it wrote down before forgetting it. Why drempt of a Ironborn origin i have no clue, but it was more in depth in my dream, and woke me up, so i just typed it on phone as quick as i could, still half still asleep.
  6. There is, but it mainly consists of alot of vague, one line statements that are glossed over. Being a noob and not having time to find all the quotes, i cant really give any textual evidance. i just pulled a Jurassic Park and filled in between the lines. References to ironborn being a people apart, their saying of "whats dead may never die, but come back harder and stronger", especially coupled with drowning themselves to become true ironborn, in that theyll always remember the ones lost during a voyage maybe. Seastone chair being ancient. Naggas bones being referenced as trees. Hatred for a storm god, worshipping a drowned god. Castle on Pyke once being much larger and erosion time needed to whittle it down. Island of Last Light being maned and lighthouse kept lit. No one of first men or andal blood considering them any kind of kin or even forsaken ancestors.
  7. Egnimatic- difficult to interpret or understand; mysterious. Maybe hes puzzling as to which to start/finish up first? Or maybe deciding to announce its done now and have it ready to buy the day after season 7 wraps up or wait for last episode of season 7 to announce completion. With grrm, who knows.
  8. I believe the ironborn came from the land west of westeros, 1000s of years before the first men crossed the narrow sea bridge. They wrought ships of weirwood, for their strength against the Deep Ones and monsters of the seas. And maybe a special ship named Nagga was built of massive weirwood beams for a very long , very dangerous unknown open ocean journey, against krakens and storms, waves and leviathans, to a place they didnt know but hoped existed. Maybe there was an ancient cataclysm (metors of black oily stone and other metals) that destroyed most of their civilization, forcing the remnants to build an ancient ark to find land to restart on. Crashing the ark on iron islands, dragged upon shore for shelter or tossed there and broken during a violent deluge after who knows how long a journey. Dead Weirwood petrifies hard as stone over 1000s of years, never rotting, so thatd explain that. Maybe weirwoods over there were straight and tall, and when iron born brought seeds over, westerosse land made them twisted, stunted versions of their original selves, or CoTF warped them over time with magic. Iron islands may have once been fertile and much larger in size, but thousands of years of farming, erosion and anger of the Storm god eventually had striped the land of all nutrients and made it widely unfarmable, but forever their savior islands. They were probably stuck on the islands for most of this time, as they would have been few in number, strangers to the land and possibly afraid to continue on, being content to have what they had. Also not knowing if land laid west beyond the island and unable/unwilling to make such a journey again. Once they did however, they surely found large populations of giants and forest people along the reach, westerland and northern coasts, so they that to contend with if they want to push farther inland. maybe why ironborn started claiming all the riverlands, during first men era and after, when the gaints and cotf were being destroyed. Yet they never really left pyke, wyk, ect. Those were ingrained as their savior lands, no matter where they'd sail to, the iron islands were always home. The westmost island, Last Light iirc, maybe an ancestral memory to help guide anymore lost ironborn to their brethren.

  10. Dont get me wrong by the following, I love this series and hope for 40 more years of planetos stories. With that said, i ask the following. Throughout the series we see a wide range of emotions, anger, sadness, lust, rage, relief, envy, hate, revoltion, ect. What we dont really see is real love. Yes, there are some that love eachother dutifully or out of lust, ned/cat and jamie/cersei, jon/ygrette, but the only real love we ever really know about (vaguely) is Tyrion and his 1st wife, and all know how that went. Then Dany/kahl Drogo, but that was the raping of a 13-14 year old girl by a grown man til she got Stockholm syndrome and "loved" him back... Maybe jorah loves dany, but thats unrequited, as is the littlefinger sansa ordeal. No matter which way it turns, grrm always makes love end in tragedy and death. Has there ever been more then just a blink of joy before a warhammer smashes it? Question i have is why cant there be at least one shred of happiness/real love in planetos? Does it all have to end in death, rape, plotting and war? Unless i missed something... Sam and Gilly, maybe thats the one shred.
  11. Its one thing to want and have dragons, its a whole nother to control them. And it would seem only the Valyrian bloodlines could do such a thing.... in current times that is.
  12. The Reach. Fertile land, river and creeks, beautiful forests, great weather. A landed knight with a modest keep, wife and kids, enough land to support us, tithe to the Tyrells, and sell for profit.
  13. None of them, imho. We learn a great base line of all the Targs in WoIaF. Id much rather have a Valyrian Chronicles which tells tales of the 100-200 years leading up to the Doom. Now THATS something to look into. By the time DoS and the Hedge Knight books comes, im going to have enough of Targ this and Targ that. They were low teir dragonlords when they left Valyria, so as great as they were in westeros, they wernt really the Stark/Lannister/Arryns of Valyria. More like the Bracken/Yronwoods.
  14. I would change it so that fans didnt belittle other fans for using their imagination about a story they love. It cultivates the mind and maybe inspires others to write their own novels.
  15. Ending ADoS with.... To Be Continued. Or..... The epilogue being all the Gods sitting around a huge table with Planetos layed out D&D style nerding out on a Saturday night with the God of Many Faces saying, in a horribly out of place English accent,"well played chaps, me mum said i had be home by 10, but i think we got time....fancy another go?"
