  1. Great news! Chris Wooding is one of my favorite authors. Werthead has it exactly right. I've read those books as well, and they are some of my favorites. Ketty Jay - what an amazing series. Just love, love, love it. I once tried to make Chris Wooding my boyfriend, on this very forum, but he declined, He writes like a dream. Love Chris Wooding. I wish the book wasn't so far away.
  2. Thanks so much! I'm so excited to hear this. Gonna start my Expanse re-read very soon then!
  3. It's SO good, right? So is the next one, A Blade of Black Steel. Cobalt Zosia!
  4. Wow! You guys are reading some great stuff! I've had a great reading year so far (37 down, y'all!) and that's mostly due to reading this forum. Anyhow, I read Jack Sparks and loved it, just finished Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet and I am just wrecked, it was so good. The characterization is phenomenal. I can't wait for more in the Wayfarer series! Becky Chambers is the author, and I believe it's her debut novel. I recently read The Suicide Motor Club by Christopher Buehlman. I'd read a couple of his other books, liked them, and Buehlman is a local boy. Scary, scary vampires in muscle cars. Cool. Just bought his The Lesser Dead (more vampires! I'm not crazy about vampires, but I do like Buehlman, so...yeah. I bit. ) I came here to see what everyone else was reading, and my heart skipped a beat when I read that The Obelisk Gate was out tomorrow! The Fifth Season was definitely in my top 5 reads last year - maybe top. So, I'm psyched. Is the next Expanse book coming out soon? If so, I'm gonna re-read the series. I like it so much; I'm a big fan of Daniel Abraham. I'm jealous of all the folks reading Robin Hobb and Lois McMaster Bujold for the first time. I love all of the Fitz/Fool books, Liveships, RainWilds...Hobb is one of those authors that give me a really immersive reading experience. And Bujold's Vorkosigan Saga? I adore it. Thanks, board! As others have noted, A Civil Campaign is hysterical, but I would read any book concerning the Vorkosigans. Miles is one of my favorite characters of all time. Happy reading, you guys! You're in for hours and hours of excellent entertainment!
  5. I just finished Outlaw by K. Eason. Blown away. I got Enemy as a Kindle First, and I thought, I guess, how good can it be? I started reading it when I was out of books that had cost me $$ (that I thought were the "good" books) and got ready to read some tripe. I am so stupid. These books are waaaaaaay awesome. Read them! You will love them!
  6. That "gotnews" link is a buncha evil, racist, bullshit crap. OH, he wore blue clothes sometimes! He's in a gang! Look, here's a picture of him with a bottle of champagne! Drug addict! WTF? This is low.
  7. This is exactly right. At one point (or a few points!) I loudly groused that I wasn't going to do this (Christmas crap) ever again! In my experience, Christmas is "The Mom Show" and I get very little help, unless I insist - in which case I'm seen as a big Scrooge. It's tons of work for little reward. I mean, I had to wrap my own (three!) gifts. Yeah, I'm cynical, I guess.
  8. Merry Christmas, all you book geeks!
  9. I Love Nail Polish has their new fall collection up for pre-order (save a buck/polish). I have several of their polishes, and girls, it is some of the best polish I own. I've never had a problem with application or formula, and every single bottle has been seriously stunning.   Even their packaging is great! If you love gorgeous, unusual nail polish, I suggest you check out ILNP!
  10. Yup. I burned through it, and now I am so sad, 'cause it's over. Loved it.
  11. Just picked up The Churn. Thanks, guys! :)
  12. Loved Dany and Tyrion's chat, loved Cersei and Qyburn's ("the work continues...dun dun duuuuun"), loved Wun-Wun, loved un-Val, thought Sansa was awesome, Theon too, and I loved Arya! Really, the best episode for me in a long time. Hardhome was amazing. Just stunning.
  13. Yeah. That was cool. A feast for the crows.
  14. Do you even know where you are posting? Get out. Like somebody else said, at least we know how to read. You can't, you glory in it, so...go wallow in ignorance elsewhere. Obviously there wouldn't be a series without the books.
  15. Who else was yelling and jumping up and down? ROW THE DAMN BOAT! WHERE'D YOU LEAVE THE DRAGONGLASS? EEEEEK!
