  1. Watched Rebel Moon Part 2, and it's very annoying, because there's actually a few good ideas and thoughts in there, but it's so amateurishly written and structured that they mostly get lost.

    Spoiler

The fight on the falling ship, for one, is way better executed than the somewhat similar scene in Black Widow. And honestly the whole battle plan for the village actually made some kind of sense- I was wondering how Snyder was possibly going to make one village and six warriors taking on a whole battleship plausible, but it was actually well thought out.

Unfortunately much of it is visually barely coherent- which is actually unusual for Snyder.

I also appreciated that he didn't do the thing where defeating the main baddie is all you need to do and the army falls over or vanishes- they needed the rebels to come in and clean up. Unfortunately that was undercut by them coming completely out of nowhere and not being set up at all within this movie.

Past that it was mostly just an unmemorable, clunky mess.

But Howard's wife stated they would be in a managerial vault. That fits vault 31 perfectly, since they supply overseers. They could both still be in cryopods. (Especially since Howard is still looking for his family. Which makes me think his daughter did not die in the initial blasts. He must have got the daughter to the ex, who then took off with her)

Apart from what Kal said about Betty's identity

    Spoiler

Vault 31 isn't really a 'managerial vault'. Sure, in a literal sense it's a vault with managers in, but it's part of an experiment, not one of the bases of the people running the experiments. Like Kal says, Barb was Bud's boss, she wouldn't subject herself to his ideas.

It's not comfirmed and they may go somewhere else with it but the end hints pretty strongly that Barb and Janey are in New Vegas.

  3. Sweet. The first Steamworld Heist rocked. Steamworld in general is low-key one of the best franchises going.

Also there isn't an English trailer separated out from today's Indie Direct announcement but Europa is getting a demo today, which I will definitely be trying out. Game releases in August.

  4.

Finished it, yeah, that was good.

    Spoiler

The roundtable scene, with Cooper listening in and finding out where Barb stands, was brilliantly done. On-the-nose, like, but excellent.

I don't know that we'll find out how Moldaver survived- she's gone now, it's not super-relevant. Cryo-tech is probably the only reasonable logical explanation, but I don't think it really matters.

The production values are superb, as well - it's true that there's some feeling of artificiality but that just goes with the general feel of Fallout anyway.

.hes not the better of the Nolan brothers when it comes to writing that’s for sure.

Well firstly, he wrote Memento, The Prestige and TDK with Chris and he didn't write Inception and Tenet so, you know, he was keeping the average up for quite a while.

Secondly, by most accounts Person of Interest is really good and ends very well, so I  wouldn't judge Nolan just on Westworld even as a tv writer.

Thirdly, he's not writing or showrunning this.

It is number one for the year so far.  I assume Deadpool and Wolverine will pass it; but I haven’t seen anything else on my radar that feels like it should be a massive draw.  (I’m probably not paying enough attention though.)

Joker 2 will probably do well. Furiosa might, given the legendary status Fury Road has attained, though it'd have to outdo that one by a lot to beat Dune 2.
