  1. It is possible to pin down (though it is VERY complicated, and uses a lot of information, that seems at first glance irrelevant to estimations of timing of Robert's Rebellion and events around it). We have a lot of information to do that. Though that's my personal opinion. We will see whether I was right, when we will get TWOW. How TWOW's info will prove/disprove my theory/timings? -> If my calculations are correct, then Dany (who, according to GRRM, is 8-9 months younger than Jon) will soon turn 16 years old, and it will happen in first half of 300. Also we will find out how old is Rhaego, when they will be reunited. "Rhaego's comet" appeared above KL on the day of Joffrey's birthday of 299; Jon Arryn died 14 days after Joffrey's birthday of 298; Dany realised that she's pregnant, on the day of her 14th birthday in 298; when Ned and Co were traveling to KL, they received info about Dany's pregnancy; after Rhaego's birth (in early 299) Dany's khalasar traveled thru the Red Waste, duration of their journey could be pinned down based on number of people that died on that voyage; at the time of Dany's arrival to Quarth, she was 15, turned 15 shortly prior arrival or even on the day of it; Dany married with Khal Drogo approximately 6 months after her 13th birthday in 297. Based on the timing of various events, that were happening near Dany's birthdays 297-300, it is possible to establish when exactly (approximately +- 1 month) is her birthday. And Jon is 8-9 months older than Dany. I'm saying - Dany was born in May, and Jon was born in September, 8 months earlier. She is Gemini, and he is Libra, which is connected to symbolism around Dawn of Daynes, the Sword of the Morning, Lightbringer. Lightbringer in Latin is Lucifer, which is also a Latin name of planet Venus, also Venus is called Morning Star, and it's a gurdian planet of Libra. Libras are born thru September 22-October 22. Geminis are born precisely 8-9 months later than Libras - in May-June. Jon, being born in October, doesn't fit with the timing of Rhaegar's death, his departure from Dorne, where he left pregnant Lyanna, the Battle at Trident and the Sack of KL, and Dany's birth 9 months after those events. If Lyanna was kidnapped in September, her baby was conceived in Dorne on Christmas Eve at Starfall (Biblical symbolism, same as Rhaego's Bleeding Star is a parallel to Jesus' Star of Bethlehem, the Christman Star), Rhaegar went back to KL soon after that, died at the Trident, date of Dany's conception is connected to it, after Rhaegar's death Ned went to KL, then to Storm's End, then to Dorne, where in September of 283 Lyanna died in a bed of blood, after giving birth to Jon, and 8 months later Dany was born on Dragonstone, in May of 284, then it all fits with estimated calculation of distances, traveled in span after Lyanna's kidnapping and to Robb's birth 9 months after Cat and Ned's wedding, held soon after the Battle of the Bells, after which King Aerys sent Gerold Hightower to bring back Rhaegar, the time needed for Gerold to go to Starfall and from there for Rhaegar to go to KL and then to Trident also fits. I think that he was deliberately misleading, by exaggerating his leniency concerning timings in his books.
  2. Lyanna was kidnapped in September of 282, a bit less than a year after the Tournament at Harrenhal, that was held in Late October-early November (lasted 10 days) of 281. I calculated all of that (all traveling that happened in duration of the Rebellion, starting from Lyanna's kidnapping and ending with Ned's return to his wife, already after Lyanna's death and Robert's coronation), and there's enough time from September to December for Brandon's trip to KL, Rickard going after him, Aerys sending raven to the Eyrie, Jon Arryn gathering and leading his people to Gulltown, Robert sailing from Gulltown to Storm's End, Robert going to Summerhall for three duels, Robert returning back to Storm's End, Robert going to Ashford to fight against Rendyll Tarly and Mace Tyrell, Robert going to Stoney Sept and Mace going to siege Storm's End (which lasted for nearly a year). The Rebellion lasted for a bit less than a year, Lyanna was kidnapped in September and Jon was born in September of the next year. Though, the Rebellion itself started not immediately after Lyanna's kidnapping, but only after Brandon's and Rickard's execution, nearly a month later; and it ended approximately 2-4 weeks before Ned found Lyanna in Dorne, when he ended the siege of Storm's End. The Sack of KL happened in July-August, Dany was born in May, Jon, who is according to GRRM, is 8-9 months older than Dany, was born 8 months before Dany - in September of 283. The Rebellion lasted ~11 months, from early-middle October of 282 to late August or early September of 283. The Battle of the Bells and the wedding happened in January-February, Robb was born in October or early November. Catelyn considered Jon as a threat for her children, because he was older than Robb (Jon was born on 23rd of September), if Ned ever legitimized Jon, then Robb would have lost his position as Ned's heir. Not a year, less than 6 months. Dany is still 15, and her birthday is in 20s of May or later. Dany is Gemini, an Air sign, same as Jon, who is a Libra. Gemini's are born in May 21-June 21. It's no later than early June of 300, when JonCon was thinking that 17 years passed since the Battle of the Bells. March-June of 300 - January-February of 283 = 17 years.
  3. Robert was hiding at the Stoney Sept, and Aerys' people were searching for him. Ned and Hoster Tully (with their troops) arrived there just in time to save him. Hoster agreed to help Ned after he arranged Ned's engagement with Catelyn. Additional agreement about Lysa's marriage with Jon Arryn was made only after Jon's heir got killed during the Battle of the Bells. So chronology went like this: 1. Ned arrived to Riverrun, and agreed to marry with Cat, in exchange for Hoster's support in the war. 2. Ned, Hoster and Jon (he wasn't at Riverrun with Ned, he was bringing his troops from The Vale to join with the others) went to Stoney Sept to save Robert. 3. Jon's heir, Denys Arryn, died in the battle. 4. After their return to Riverrun, Hoster additionally arranged that Lysa will marry with Jon, on the same day when Cat will marry with Ned. https://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Hoster_Tully#Robert.27s_Rebellion
  4. Joffrey died in January, and that scene was happening in March. Hunter's moon is in October only in Northern Hemisphere, but in March in the Southern. https://earthsky.org/astronomy-essentials/everything-you-need-to-know-hunters-moon "What if I’m in the Southern Hemisphere? If you’re in the Southern Hemisphere, your Harvest and Hunter’s moons center on the March equinox, your autumn equinox. Much of what we say in this post – the general information about Harvest and Hunter’s Moons – applies to you, too … next March and April. Right now, your full moon will be doing the opposite of a Hunter’s Moon. That is, for the Southern Hemisphere around the time of the October and November full moons, there’s a longer-than-usual time between moonrises on successive nights." Seems that Winterfell and King's Landing are in different Hemispheres. The Harvest Moon can fall any time between September and October. So, if the Harvest Feast in ACOK at Winterfell was held after the Harvest Moon, then it was, probably, in November. Possibly a parallel to Thanksgiving.
  5. Yes, this! According to the woodswitch's prophecy, the Promised Prince was supposed to be born from Jaehaerys' line. Though, does that mean that it could have been just anyone out of his descendants? Of course not. Why did Rhaegar thought that it's definitely Aegon, who is the Promised Prince? Why before that he thought that it was him (Rhaegar), who was the Promised Prince? Why he never considered as candidates his younger brother, prince Viserys, or his unborn yet third sibling, or his daughter Rhaenys, or his third, unborn yet child, that could have been a son or a daughter)? -> That's because out of Jaehaerys' descendants, after Aerys and Rhaella's union, only Rhaegar was the Prince of Dragonstone, and after him the next Prince of Dragonstone was Rhaegar's oldest son - Aegon. The only logical conclusion is that, based on whatever Rhaegar found in Targaryen archives about the prophecy, one of the Promised Prince's signs was that he is not just any prince, he is specifically the Prince of Dragonstone. So here we have the physical location of her birthplace, Dragonstone as the deciding factor for Aemon. Unless Aemon was wrong, and born amidst salt and smoke, is how Jon is going to be resurrected, not about Dany's birth. So part of the prophecy with the bleeding stars is about Rhaego (and Jon, because of Lyanna's "bed of blood" at Starfall), and the part with smoke and salt is about Jon, while the part with the stone dragons is about Dany. Rhaegar/Aemon was going about "tears and smoke", while in the prophecy it was about "salt and smoke". So, maybe, it is about literal salt, and not about tears. No, he/she can't. Some peasant born on Dragonstone, won't be Jaehaerys' descendant. Neither is Stannis. Though Melisandre didn't knew about the prophecy given by woodswitch to Targaryens. There are three separate prophecies about the same event: 5000 years old prophecy from Asshai (Mel's source): "There will come a day after a long summer when the stars bleed and the cold breath of darkness falls heavy on the world. In this dread hour a warrior shall draw from the fire a burning sword. And that sword shall be Lightbringer, the Red Sword of Heroes, and he who clasps it shall be Azor Ahai come again, and the darkness shall flee before him." "When the red star bleeds and the darkness gathers, Azor Ahai shall be born again amidst smoke and salt to wake dragons out of stone." "She talks of prophecies ... a hero reborn in the sea, living dragons hatched from dead stone ... she speaks of signs and swears they point to me." - Stannis, ASOS. - the prophecy by the Ghost of High Heart: - the Promised Prince will be born from Aerys's and Rhaella's line. - "Signs and Portents" a book written by Daenys the Dreamer (Rhaegar's source, also Aemon's and Marwyn's): - "Marwyn claims to have found three pages of Signs and Portents, visions written down by the maiden daughter of Aenar Targaryen before the Doom came to Valyria." - Asha, AFFC; - "Someday the dragons will return. My brother Daeron's dreamed of it, and King Aerys read it in a prophecy." - Egg, The Mystery Knight; - "Born amidst salt and smoke, beneath a bleeding star. I know the prophecy" - Marwyn, AFFC; - "Until one day Prince Rhaegar found something in his scrolls ... 'I will require sword and armor. It seems I must be a warrior.'"; ("Jon was armored in black ice, but his blade burned red in his fist." - Jon, ADWD. "That night she dreamt that she was Rhaegar, riding to the Trident. But she was mounted on a dragon, not a horse. When she saw the Usurper's rebel host across the river they were armored all in ice, but she bathed them in dragonfire and they melted away like dew and turned the Trident into a torrent. Some small part of her knew that she was dreaming, but another part exulted. This is how it was meant to be. The other was a nightmare, and I have only now awakened." - Dany, ASOS. Rhaegar's armor was black. He asked to make for him a black armor, because that was one of TPTWP's signs. Eventually he realised that he is not TPTWP, maybe, because the Prince was supposed to have two companions, that were dragonseeds like him, and Rhaegar had only one relative - Viserys; or, maybe, because TPTWP was supposed to have a gift of dragondreams. He was supposed to see in a dream his battle against the Others (like Dany and Jon did). But Rhaegar never had any prophetic dreams, even though he tried - when he visited the ruins of Summerhall. Could be that eventually he met there the Ghost of High Heart, and she told him that it isn't him, who is TPTWP, it's going to be his son. He thought that it was Aegon, while actually it was Jon.) - "The dragon must have three heads" - Aemon, AFFC; - ""He has a song," the man replied. "He is the prince that was promised, and his is the song of ice and fire." He looked up when he said it and his eyes met Dany's, and it seemed as if he saw her standing there beyond the door. "There must be one more,"" - Dany, ACOK. Based on all that, TPTWP (he/she/they) supposed to match this parameters (not all of them together, but some of them): - descendant of Aerys and Rhaella, the Prince of Dragonstone, warrior, dragondreamer, black armor, burning sword/Lightbringer, will awake dragons from stone, will be born under the bleeding stars (Jon's birth at Starfall), the Bleeding Star will herald his birth (Rhaego), born again amidst smoke and salt (Jon's resurrection, or circumstances of Rhaego's reunion with Dany (he's not dead), or Dany at Drogo's funeral), his song is the song of ice and fire; he's supposed to have two bloodrelated to him dragonseeds, who are also descendants of Aerys/Rhaella. So it's not about the place of birth, it's about multiple parameters. And some peasant, born on Dragonstone, won't match even half of them. Even if King Aerys impregnated some unknown woman. Because, to be TPTWP, the child (Dany)/grandchildren (Jon and Rhaego) supposed to be from both of them - Aerys and Rhaella.
  6. Because Jon, being not Ned Stark's bastard, is the core/fundament of the entire ASOIAF's plot, thus it's too vast and too important for GRRM to use merely as a tool to get together Jon and Arya. First he thought - I should hook those two together, thus I'll write that Jon isn't actually Ned's son, and then it will be Ok for him to pursue relationship with Arya. But then he decided not to ship Jon with Arya, and instead used "Jon as not Ned's bastard"-plot-device as a starting point for entirely different story (the one in which Jon, being not Ned's son, is the most important part of the plot)? Sorry, but that's ridiculous.
  7. Each of the three heads supposed to fulfill only part of the prohecy, not everything. Rhaego was born under the Bleeding Star. Dany has awakened dragons from stone. Probably, the part about being born under smoke and salt, is also about her. Jon is going to wield Lightbringer. And he is the last dragon/the last Targaryen Prince/the last Prince of Dragonstone. Dany isn't the Princess of Dragonstone, and never was. When she was born, there was Viserys. And Jon. So she isn't. This isn't part of the prophecy that is supposed to be fulfilled by her. Her role is to be the mother of dragons (Rhaego, Drogon, Rhaegal, Viserion), and the bride of fire (bride of R'hllor's champion - Jon).
  8. I don't really follow you here. For Aegon it was Ok to bang TWO of his sisters, so why wouldn't it be Ok for Jon to hook up with Arya, even though he thought that they were half-siblings, and were raised together? Aegon also was raised together with his sisters. Why to incorporate double standards, why to write some special excuse specifically for Jon, when GRRM's other characters didn't needed any excuses to bang whoever they wanted? Aegon and his sisters, other Targaryens and their spouses-siblings, Cersei and Jaime. Doesn't make a lot of sense to make a special case only with Jon's story. Thus, Jon, not being Ned's bastard, wasn't written just for the sake of him getting together with Arya. Because if GRRM wanted those two to get together, then it wasn't necessary for them not to be half-siblings. Even if Jon was Ned's bastard, that wouldn't have stopped GRRM from writing Jon's love-story with Arya. Because that sort of little things didn't stopped him from Aegon+Visenya+Rhaenys, Aerys+Rhaella, Rhaenyra+Daeron, Bloodraven+Shiera, etc. I'm calling Young Griff fAegon. I meant both of them as incorrectly identified as the Promised Prince - Rhaegar's Aegon and Varys' fAegon. Blackfyres/Varys/Illyrio/Golden Company think that their fAegon, who was conceived on the day of "Aegon's comet", is the Promised Prince, that he is destined to rule, destined to win where all other Blackfyres failed, destined to win Iron Throne. They think so because of that comet, that they incorrectly interpreted as the Promised Prince's omen, making the same mistake as Rhaegar did. Rhaegar's Aegon wasn't the Promised Prince, and neither is fAegon. That was the wrong comet. Nevertheless Melisandre came from Asshai to Dragonstone, to Stannis, who was the Prince of Dragonstone, absolutely sure that he is Azor Ahai and the Promised Prince, because that's what R'hllor showed her - his champion is the Prince of Dragonstone. And, because Melisandre didn't knew about Jon's existence, she was sure that Stannis is the one for whom she was looking. He was wrong, when he thought that he is the Promised Prince. He is dead, thus it's not him. He was wrong, when he thought that Elia's Aegon is the Promised Prince. He's also dead. He was wrong, when he thought that his three children (Rhaenys, Aegon, and one more child) are three heads of the dragon. Rhaenys and Aegon are dead, and even though the last of his children is indeed one of the three dragon heads, the other two are not Rhaegar's children. It's Dany and Rhaego. Because GRRM gave a ton of clues that those three - Dany, Rhaego, Jon - are three heads of the dragon, three dragonriders, and combined together are Azor Ahai Reborn. Here's one of those clues: First crack - Viserion hatched with the sound of shattering stone. Second crack, when fire got under the logs to the horse's body - Rhaegal hatched with the sound of thunder, screams of horses and voices of Dothraki. Third crack - Drogon hatched with the sound of the breaking of the world. Jon, the great stone beast from the vision in the House of the Undying, the last Targaryen dragon, that will be awakened from stone. Viserion's egg hatched with the sound effect, corresponding to his future rider's identity. Rhaego is the Stallion that Mounts the World, dosh khaleen, when predicting his birth, said that they hear the thunder of his hooves, and his future mount, Rhaegal, hatched with the sound of thunder. Drogon and the Breaker of Chains, as his future rider, is obvious. In Christianity the God has three avatars - The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Even though it's the same God. The dragon from the prophecy is a singular being, same as the God in Christianity. Though, the dragon has three heads, and each of those heads is an avatar of the dragon/God - Dany, The Mother; Rhaego, the Son; Jon, the Holy Ghost (the Bible uses both terms - The Holy Spirit and The Holy Ghost). ASOIAF is GRRM's parallel to The Book of Revelation, the final book of the New Testament of the Bible. Azor Ahai Reborn is a parallel to the Second Coming of Jesus. The Second Long Night is a parallel to the Apocalypse, second war between angels and Satan, when the dead will rise from the dust. fAegon is a parallel to Antichrist, the false Messiah, who will arrive before the real saviour. Dany is a parallel to Jesus, and Mother Mary (when she gave birth to Jesus, led to her by the Star of Bethlehem, three wisemen from the east came to see her child. In ASOIAF's case it was - to see Dany's dragon-children, and the guiding light was the Bleeding Star), and also to the Woman Clothed in the Sun, the mother of the second Jesus, who is the Great Shepherd, and a leader of horsemen-warriors, the King of kings and Lord of lords (like Rhaego). Varys is the Great Red Dragon/Satan. Golden Company is a parallel to the Beast out of the Sea, a beast with many heads, one of which was mortally wounded and then healed itself, and because of this miracle people worshiped him (the mummer's dragon in ASOIAF, supposedly dead Aegon, whose head was smashed by the Mountain, returning to 7K alive). Euron Greyjoy is a parallel to the Scarlet Beast, and Cersei is the Great Harlot. Littlefinger is the False Propphet, the Beast out of the Earth, the beast with dragon's voice and lamb's horns. Jon is Agnus Dei/Jesus, the Sacrificial Lamb, died for his people, and was resurrected. Etc. I'm not silly. I'm super smart (<- this smiley is sooo cute ) After 281, when "Aegon's comet" was passing in the sky, and Elia's Aegon was conceived in King's Landing (and Lemore's/Jeyne Swann's fAegon was conceived in Kingswood, from which that same comet was also seen), the Others didn't came, there was no Long Night. If the Bleeding Star of 299 and Aegon's comet of 281 is the same comet, then her rotation perior is 18 years, thus it was supposed to pass Planetos in 263, 245, 227, 209, 191, etc. But it wasn't mentioned anywhere. Not even in The Hedge Knight novel that took place in 209. Even if it is the same comet, it doesn't mean that each of her arrivals to Planetos is an omen of the Long Night, or a herald of the Promised Prince's birth.
  9. No, he would have remained the Prince of Dragonstone, until his 16th name day, and until then 7K would have been ruled by a Regent or a Council of Regents. Real world uses term - King-in-Waiting, but GRRM in ASOIAF is using - the Prince of Dragonstone. In other fantasy fiction, written before GRRM, if there was a son of a dead King, and that son was a child, then he remained a Prince until his maturity. For example, in the Realm of the Elderlings by Robin Hobb, 1995-2017. Jon would have remained the Crown Prince/the Prince of Dragonstone until his coronation. He's not a King if he wasn't crowned. Rhaegar incorrectly interpreted omens given in the prophecy. "Aegon's comet" of 281 wasn't the bleeding star from the prophecy. It's "Rhaego's comet", which is an omen of the Prince's birth - The Bleeding Star comet. Rhaegar, maester Aemon, maester Marwyn, Shiera Seastar, and Varys thought that that comet was a sign of the Promised Prince, and thus they all thought that their Aegon/fAegon is the Promised Prince.
  10. Why was it Ok for Aegon to be married with his two sister-wives, for Aerys to be married with his sister Rhaella, but for Jon and Arya to get together, there was supposed to be made an excuse that they are not closely bloodrelated, for GRRM to get them together? Isn't that kind of double standards? He wrote Aegon+Visenya+Rhaenys, then why in Jon's case to write some sort of incomprehensive twist? That doesn't make any sense. There was no need for that sort of excuses. Thus, Jon not being Ned's son, had nothing to do with GRRM's further plans for him and Arya.
  11. To fulfill the prophecy about Azor Ahai Reborn Jon has to be the Prince of Dragonstone. And if Jon is a bastard, then he isn't the Prince of Dragonstone, and thus not the Prince that was Promised. If he is a bastard, then he is not a Prince at all. -> Orys Baratheon wasn't a Prince, Daemon Blackfyre wasn't a Prince, neither was Bloodraven. In case with ASOIAF "legal legitimacy" does matter. Stannis was the Prince of Dragonstone, because people didn't knew about Jon's existence (that he is Rhaegar's legitimate son, and thus - the Prince of Dragonstone). Melisandre thought that Stannis is Azor Ahai Reborn and the Prince that was Promised, because he was an official Prince of Dragonstone. Who is Azor Ahai Reborn and the Prince that was Promised? -> It's the Prince of Dragonstone. And for Jon to be that, he supposed to be legitimate and not a bastard, otherwise he doesn't fit into the prophecy's parameters. All Arthur had to do, is to draw Excalibur from stone. Azor Ahai is supposed to do much more than just to wield Lightbringer. He has to be a Prince, he has to be born under the bleeding stars, he has to awake dragons from stone. That's why there are several AA-reborn, and all of them (Jon, Dany, Rhaego) are legitimate children of their parents, born in marriage, two Princes and a Princess.
  12. What's the whole point of Jon being Rhaegar's son? Isn't it for him to become the King of 7K? If Jon isn't going to become the King of 7K, then it's not necessary for him to be Rhaegar's and Lyanna's child. Because with the same outcome - not a King - he can be the son of Ned and Ashara, or Ned and Wylla, or Ned and fisherman's daughter, or Brandon and Ashara, or Brandon and Lyanna. No? Dany won't marry with a bastard. Based on her seeing Quentyn Martell, who was a Prince of Dorne, as not good enough for her. If Jon is a bastard, then he is further in line of inheritance than Dany, even though he is a son of the Crown Prince and she is the ex-King's third child and a daughter. If Jon is a bastard, then even Rhaego is before Jon in the inheritance line of Targaryens. Not a match for Dany. And Dany, not marrying with Jon, would be the same as if in the end of The Lord of the Rings Arwen didn't married with Aragorn. With whom else, if not with him? Dany, getting married with fAegon, is the same as if Arwen married with an ork. The same! Targaryens are like good guys from LOTR, and Blackfyres are like LOTR's bad guys - Sauron, Saruman, Necromancers, orks, trolls and goblins. fAegon, who is a Blackfyre, is an "ork" of ASOIAF - an instrument of Varys/ASOIAF's Sauron. No? What would be your reaction if in the end of LOTR Aragorn didn't became the King of Gondor, and instead went to continue ranging under alias the Strider, while Arwen married with one of the bad guys, or with some random guy? Dany won't marry with a bastard. And she won't marry with an oathbreaker. People of 7K won't accept an oathbreaker and a deserter as their King. No? Thus, for Jon there should be some sort of legal exit out of the Night's Watch. No? Isn't there any way for him to leave NW without becoming an oathbreaker?
  13. If Jon is a legitimate Targaryen, doesn't that make his Night's Watch vows to be void? Because, if he is a Targaryen, then Old Gods are not his gods, and thus he isn't obligated to stick to his vows given to them. His God is R'hllor - deity of Asshai, Azor Ahai, Valyrians and dragons, so Jon belongs to R'hllor, and other gods have no right to claim him into their service. Or it doesn't work like that?
  14. I have a question, it's not exactly about the books, more like it's about a level of genetical relationships in the series. I have a theory that Larra Rogare and Serenei of Lys was the same person. If my theory is correct then it means that Shiera Seastar was not only Aegon's daughter, but she was also his half-sister, because the two of them had the same mother - Larra/Serenei. Thru her father, Aegon, Shiera was half-sister to Daeron II Targaryen, Daemon I Blackfyre, Bloodraven and his sisters, Bittersteel, Viserys Plumm, three Otherys siblings, possibly also Ambrose Butterwell, and others. So my question is - does it mean that Aegon, by being Shiera's half-brother, was also a half-brother of his own children, all of them? Yes? No?
  15. That's not what I said. I said - "If she did saved Drogo, and restored his health and mind, then Drogo would have remained to be Khal of his khalasar, instead now that khalasar belongs to Rhaego, with Khal Pono as Rhaego's "regent". " You misunderstood it as "Drogo's death = Rhaego inherites his father's khalasar", but that's not what I meant. If Drogo survived, then he would have remained to be a Khal of his khalasar, and him together with Dany would have raised their child. With his father as a Khal of khalasar in which Rhaego lived, there would have been no any danger for Rhaego, no necessity to grow up faster, no necessity to prove anything to anyone, instead he would have been protected and sheltered by his Khal-father and Drogo's bloodriders. And eventually, when he would have been in his teens, his father's people would have started to treat Rhaego as the Stallion that mounts the world, and would have went on conquest with him to seize the world under his control. But with his father dead, Rhaego will have to grow up faster, to fight his own battles, even in his own khalasar, because Khal Pono won't be treating Rhaego same way as he would have been treated by his father. Who knows what's the real reason why Pono took Rhaego, have he done it because of his blood-pledge to Drogo, or because he is planning to use Rhaego and his status of the Stallion to gain power for himself. Seems that 10 thousands of Dothraki from Drogo's ex-khalasar decided to go with newly made Khal Pono specifically because Pono took Rhaego under his wing. They didn't joined Pono's khalasar, they joined Rhaego's khalasar. It's similar to the situation with the Stark family - if Ned didn't died, his children would have remained living a sheltered life for another 5 or so years. Instead - look at them now, especially Bran and Arya. Who were they before? -> just children, additions to their parents. But now they are independent individuals, now they are walking on their own life-path. Their parents were protecting and sheltering them, but at the same time - they were holding them back, preventing them from realising their potential. It could be compared to learning to ride a bicycle without training wheels. It's easier and safer to use them, but eventually you will have to take them off and learn to ride without them. For Rhaego Drogo would have played a role of training wheels. Rhaego is khal of khals, so he's going to lead khals, while those khals will continue to lead their khalasars. No, I didn't. Whaaaat? Where did I said that Drogo HAD to die, for Rhaego to get Drogo's khalasar? Rhaego will be leading ALL khalasars, but those khalasars will remain to be ruled by their original khals. Thus there's no need for any of those khals to die, not for Drogo not for anyone else. Example - multinational conglomerate company LVMH Moët Hennessy – Louis Vuitton SE, with Bernard Arnault as a CEO (chief executive officer). The company consists of dozens of other companies such as Louis Vuitton (CEO - Michael Burke), Bvlgari (CEO - Jean-Christophe Babin), Hennesy (CEO - Bernard Peillon), Givenchy (CEO - Philippe Fortunato), Christian Dior SE (CEO - Sidney Toledano, Chairman - Bernard Arnault), etc. Rhaego's mega-khalasar is like LVMH Moët Hennessy – Louis Vuitton SE, with multiple khalasars/companies as parts of it; Rhaego is like Bernard Arnault, who is a CEO of LVMH, and at the same time is a Chairman of the company Christian Dior SE, where CEO is Sidney Toledano. So (1.1)Khal Pono to (2.1)Rhaego and (3.1)ex-Drogo's khalasar is like (1.2)Sidney Toledano to (2.2)Bernard Arnault and (3.2)Christian Dior SE. And for Bernard Arnault to become a CEO of LVMH, none of those other CEOs, that lead all those companies, didn't had to die. If Drogo was still alive, then he would have been Rhaego's "Sidney Toledano" instead of Khal Pono. Get it? There's A LOT of them. 10+. For Rhaegal's life paid the life of a stallion, whose body was undernear Drogo's funeral pyre. The second egg hatched when the fire had reached under the logs and the horse's body started to burn. That's when the second egg hatched with the sound of thunder. Drogo's life paid for Drogon, Mirri Maz Duur's life paid for Viserion, and that horse's life paid for Rhaegal. Three bodies on funeral pyre, three dragons hatched. Rhaego wasn't there. Jorah wasn't there when Dany was giving birth to Rhaego. The man whom Dany saw as Jorah, the one who said that Rhaegar was the last dragon and then "melted" into thin air, was maester Marwyn not Jorah. (<- let's not start on it, just wait for the book). Jorah and Mirri agreed beforehand to lie to Dany about what happened to her baby. He was ashamed to had to lie to her about that. What for? I'll wait until the book will come out, and then there will be many threads how did readers missed that Rhaego is alive. And I will write there - "I told you so ". And if I was wrong, then I will post something with lots of and and .
  16. Seems that you missed the key point from Dothraki culture. AGOT, Dany IV - "Ser Jorah had explained that it was forbidden to carry a blade in Vaes Dothrak, or to shed a free man's blood. Even warring khalasars put aside their feuds and shared meat and mead together when they were in sight of the Mother of Mountains. In this place, the crones of the dosh khaleen had decreed, all Dothraki were one blood, one khalasar, one herd." AGOT, Dany V - "The stallion is the khal of khals promised in ancient prophecy, child. He will unite the Dothraki into a single khalasar and ride to the ends of the earth, or so it was promised. All the people of the world will be his herd." Rhaego is the khal of khals. So all khalasars are his. He is GRRM's parallel to the second Jesus/the son of the Woman Clothed in the Sun. In the Bible Jesus was titled king of kings and lord of lords. Which doesn't mean that he will inherite United Kingdom from Queen Elizabeth II, or Monaco from Prince Albert II, etc. Eventually all khalasars will join into one, and that khalasar will be under Rhaego's reign. And the khals of all those khalasars will remain to be khals, with the sole difference that Rhaego will be their "overlord". AGOT, Dany V - " "I have seen his face, and heard the thunder of his hooves," she proclaimed in a thin, wavery voice. "The thunder of his hooves!" the others chorused. "As swift as the wind he rides, and behind him his khalasar covers the earth, men without number, with arakhs shining in their hands like blades of razor grass. Fierce as a storm this prince will be. His enemies will tremble before him, and their wives will weep tears of blood and rend their flesh in grief. The bells in his hair will sing his coming, and the milk men in the stone tents will fear his name." The old woman trembled and looked at Dany almost as if she were afraid. "The prince is riding, and he shall be the stallion who mounts the world." " AGOT, Dany X - "She climbed the pyre herself to place the eggs around her sun-and-stars. (3) The black beside his heart, under his arm. (2) The green beside his head, his braid coiled around it. (1) The cream-and-gold down between his legs." AGOT, Dany X - "She heard a crack, (1) the sound of shattering stone. The platform of wood and brush and grass began to shift and collapse in upon itself. Bits of burning wood slid down at her, and Dany was showered with ash and cinders. And something else came crashing down, bouncing and rolling, to land at her feet; a chunk of curved rock, (1) pale and veined with gold, broken and smoking. The roaring filled the world, yet dimly through the firefall Dany heard women shriek and children cry out in wonder. Only death can pay for life. And there came a (2) second crack, loud and sharp as thunder, and the smoke stirred and whirled around her and the pyre shifted, the logs exploding as the fire touched their secret hearts. She heard the screams of frightened horses, and the voices of the Dothraki raised in shouts of fear and terror, and Ser Jorah calling her name and cursing. No, she wanted to shout to him, no, my good knight, do not fear for me. The fire is mine. I am Daenerys Stormborn, daughter of dragons, bride of dragons, mother of dragons, don't you see? Don't you SEE? With a belch of flame and smoke that reached thirty feet into the sky, the pyre collapsed and came down around her. Unafraid, Dany stepped forward into the firestorm, calling to her children. (3) The third crack was as loud and sharp as the breaking of the world." Three eggs, three dragons, three riders. First out of three hatched the cream-and-gold egg, with the sound of shattering stone. Because the rider of this dragon, Jon Snow, is "From a smoking tower, a great stone beast took wing, breathing shadow fire. . . . mother of dragons, slayer of lies" - ACOK, Dany IV. Jon is a "dragon" that will be awakened from stone (the lie to slay for Dany is to discover that Jon is not a bastard of Ned Stark). That's why Viserion's egg hatched with the sound of shattering stone. Rhaegal's egg hatched with the sound of thunder, because his future rider, Rhaego, is the Stallion that mounts the world, khal of khals, and dosh khaleen heard the thunder of his hooves, when they were predicting his birth. Drogon's egg hatched with the sound of the breaking of the world, because his future rider, Dany, is the Breaker of Chains, and she will break existing world order by getting rid of slavery. "bride of dragons, mother of dragons, don't you see? Don't you SEE?" - first hatched Viserion's egg, and his rider will become Dany's third husband, that's why she is the bride of dragons/bride of fire. The second hatched Rhaegal's egg, and his future rider, Rhaego, is a dragon/Targaryen, Dany's son. Dany is the mother of the second dragonrider, and the bride of the third (the eggs hatched in the opposite order to order in which those dragons will find their riders - Viserion hatched first, but he will get a rider the last out of three dragons, because Dany and Rhaego are in Essos, and Jon is in Westeros. Dany will be reunited with Rhaego before they will depart from Essos, so Rhaego will bond with Rhaegal prior Jon will meet Viserion). More evidences that Rhaego will be Rhaegal's rider: AGOT, Dany IV - "Irri fetched the egg with the deep green shell, bronze flecks shining amid its scales as she turned it in her small hands. Dany curled up on her side, pulling the sandsilk cloak across her and cradling the egg in the hollow between her swollen belly and small, tender breasts. She liked to hold them. They were so beautiful, and sometimes just being close to them made her feel stronger, braver, as if somehow she were drawing strength from the stone dragons locked inside. She was lying there, holding the egg, when she felt the child move within her … as if he were reaching out, brother to brother, blood to blood. "You are the dragon," Dany whispered to him, "the true dragon. I know it. I know it." " Rhaego and Rhaegal already formed their bond when both of them were still embryos. This scene and the fact that Rhaegal's egg hatched with the sound of thunder is an evidence that Rhaego is alive and will eventually become Rhaegal's rider. The Undying predicted to Dany three threasons, the first one for blood. Rhaego was born alive. In her fevered dream Dany saw distorted memories of what was happening when she was giving birth to Rhaego. They (Mirri and Shiera Seastar/Quaithe /smiling and whispering stars in Dany's dream/ ghosts with mismatched green-blue eyes, and swords of pale fire in their hands, which was actually a glass candle) used some sort of magic on Dany and her unborn baby, and because of it Dany's POV was switching between her body and the body of unborn yet Rhaego. And then he was born and he saw Dany (that "the face within was her own"). He was born alive and he wasn't blind. Thus what Mirri Maz Duur said to Dany was a lie. Quaithe couldn't have taken Rhaego with her, because physically she wasn't there. Thus the baby was taken by someone else. When Dany regained consciousness, Jorah and Mirri and Dany's maids and bloodriders were still in the camp. So the baby was taken by those who have left. And the first to leave was Pono. He was one of Drogo's bloodriders, and the only one of them that survived. So he was what remained from Drogo's "blood", and because Rhaego was Drogo's son, blood of his blood, and Pono also was blood of Drogo's blood, it was his duty to take the baby, which he did. The treason for blood - Dany's son was kidnapped by blood of his blood, by his father's ex-bloodrider. There is no direct textual evidences of this. Or more direct than those few bread crumbs that I mentioned. The readers are not supposed to figure it out. Those elements in the books, they are not clues that GRRM left for readers to uncover the mystery, those elements are more like bricks from which GRRM had build fundament for the future reveal that Rhaego is alive.
  17. She didn't prevented anything. She didn't caused any harm to Rhaego. He was born alive, and then kidnapped by Dothraki. So he will eventually become the Stallion that Mounts the World. Furthermore it was Mirri's actions that assured this outcome. If she did saved Drogo, and restored his health and mind, then Drogo would have remained to be Khal of his khalasar, instead now that khalasar belongs to Rhaego, with Khal Pono as Rhaego's "regent". Thus all prophecies does come true, and they are inevitable. Whatever characters will do, all their actions will lead to fullfilment of the prophecy, even if what they were doing was supposed to prevent it from happening.
  18. Because that gathering took place at Harrenhal, the castle build by Harren Hoare. So, maybe, Marc Simonetti, the artist that made that picture, looked thru coats of arms of the Houses, that owned Harrenhal, and either he didn't knew, that in 101 the castle was owned not by House Hoare, or he knew, that Hoares weren't Lords of Harrenhal anymore, but still chose to use their banners, as decorations in that picture, either for some specific reason or just because. Would be weird if Hoares' banners were hanging in some other castle, but there's nothing weird about them being present in Harrenhal. Hoares build Harrenhal, so at least they deserve to be acknowledged for that. So those banners could be there as a gesture of acknowledgement. Or they are there for superstitious reasons, as a protection against ghosts of Hoares and their people, that were burned at Harrenhal.
  19. Could be that three out of those 6 were squires - Arthur's squire, Rhaegar's and Oswell Whent's. And the sixth person could have been maester Marwyn.
  20. Maybe the timing has something to do with Joffrey's birth (he was born in 286). Possibly, while Robert didn't had a child with Cersei, he was keeping Stannis, who at that time was his heir, at royal court in KL. But when Cersei gave birth to Joffrey, Robert had no need for Stannis anymore, thus he sent him away to Dragonstone, and married him to Selyse. They got married either in 286 or 287, because Edric Storm, who was conceived on their wedding night, was born in 287. So, possibly, the reason, why there was several years gap between Robert's Rebellion, and Robert giving those castles to his brothers, is because Robert didn't had a heir until 286. Then, after Joffrey's birth, it took some time for Robert to find a match for Stannis, to arrange the wedding, to prepare Dragonstone for them moving there, etc. That could be the reason for additional delay, why they went on Dragonstone in 287 (or late in 286).
  21. (Bran I, ACoK) Who is Aegon? At that time Aegon/Jinglebell was still alive, so it's likely, that what that Frey-cousin meant, was said with inclusion of a prospect for the future - next in line is Ryman and his sons, and after all of them - Jinglebell and all of his sons, in case, if in the future he will have (male) children.
  22. First of all, he wasn't hanging above viper's pit all that time. They placed him there, only by the time of Baelor's second visit, and at the time of his first visit, there was no pit and no snakes, ony a cage. Also, most likely, they did gave him food and water. Just a bit of it, but enough to keep him barely alive. Could be that between Baelor's visits, they kept Aemon in a dungeon, and took him out of it, shortly prior Baelor's arrival, otherwise there's no way, that he would have survived all those months in a desert, under the scorching sun. If both times the cage was in the same place, then to dig a pit for vipers, those Dornismen would have had to take the cage away, and place it somewhere else, while they will be making a pit, and filling it with snakes. It's unlikely, that they had all those snakes at hand. Most likely, they needed some time to catch so many. Also, if those snakes were in that pit for significant amount of time, they would have also died, or escaped. Thus, the logical concusion, is that the cage with a prisoner was taken someplace else, in its place they made a pit, for months were capturing (or even raising from eggs) vipers, they were kept isolated (were prevented from escaping) and were fed, and a day or so prior Baelor's arrival, the pit was filled with snakes, and then the cage with Aemon was hanged above it.
  23. Dawn was forged from the heart of a fallen star, so it was made from some sort of extraterrestrial metal, not iron. While the base for Valyrian steel is iron. And Dawn was supposedly forged 10.000 years ago, while Valyrians had tamed dragons approximately 5.000 years ago, and that's when Valyrian steel was "invented". Thus, Dawn is not a Valyrian steel blade. Different material, and different technology.
  24. But that's the thing - that bastard is her trump card, and because of him, it's likely, that Aegon became Daena's ally. It was because of Daemon's birth that King Baelor fasted for 40 days and died as result of it. So Daena had cleared for Aegon his path to Iron Throne, or at least thanks to this, he became one step closer to it. All that was left for him to become the King, is to get rid of King Viserys. And Viserys' sudden illnes does look suspicious. When Aegon became King, he tried to war against Dorne, even though his son and heir was married with a Martell Princess. Daemon was born in 170, and Daeron's heir, Baelor Breakspear, was also born in 170, a bit earlier than Daemon, and he had typical Martell looks - dark hair and dark eyes. When Aegon was younger, he fought in a war against Dorne. So it's likely, that he wasn't Ok with his son and heir getting married with a Martell. Also it's likely, that he detested a mere idea, that a Martell-looking Baelor eventually will sit on Iron Throne, and will be wearing Targaryen crown. If Baelor did became the King of 7K, then he would have been the very first non-Valyrian looking King in nearly 200 years of Targaryen reign. Daena had managed to escape from Maidenvault not once but three times. That time, when she got pregnant, was the last one. And the timing of it doesn't look like a coincidence, it corresponds with Princess Mariah's pregnancy. It was known, that Aegon disliked his wife and Daeron, his views about Dorne were also common knowledge. So it's likely, that Daena decided to take action, because she made a plan to offer to Aegon solution to his problem - she offered to give him a purely Valyrian heir. Daemon was same age as Baelor Breakspear. It's obvious, that Aegon would have preferred Daemon to become the King of 7K, not his Martell-looking grandson. Maybe, that's the reason why Daena decided to hook up with Aegon. It's likely, that she was pondering over several different ways to get herself out of Maidenvaul permanently. And her first two plans didn't worked, so offering to Aegon to become the mother of his pure-blooded heir, was her last resort. At that time Aegon was 39 or 40 years old, he was already past his prime, and getting fat and ugly. So it's unlikely, that she hooked up with him because of love or lust. If that was so, if the father of Daena's child was a man, that she loved, and that man wasn't Aegon, then why didn't she just stayed with that man? Her marriage with King Baelor was annuled. She could have just married with that guy, but she returned back to Maidenvault, which is an evidence, that where she wanted to be is at Targaryen court, not elsewhere. And the reason, why she returned, is because she was pregnant, and the father of her child was Aegon, and they possibly made a deal concerning that child.
