  1. The Knight of the Mind deleted "three-eyed crow" and added some of its previous content to "Brynden Rivers". Is this preferred? I personally think it would be better to have separate articles (most Bloodraven content is from D&E, the TEC is from ASOIAF, GRRM only makes the connection in ADWD). Similar splits could be done for Catelyn Tully / Lady Stoneheart, Barristan Selmy / Arstan Whitebeard, and Aegon Targaryen / Young Griff (especially if Aegon is a fake).
  2. Additionally, what about the pages for theories that have been confirmed or disproven? For example, the app has verified that the three-eyed crow is Brynden Rivers, so "Three-eyed crow/Theories" seems redundant at this point.
  3. I'm personally not interested in wikifying theories, but a theories page for the hooded man article ("Theon Durden" / Harwin / Hullen / Chayle, etc.) could be made if anyone is interested.
  4. Based on our current information, I don't think he should be called Daemon II either. However, it might be good to wait a few weeks and see how the Blackfyres are labeled in TWOIAF. We shouldn't add new content from it right away, but we could use it as a guideline for the Blackfyre article titles. In ASOS-37 Roose tells Jaime,
  5. It makes sense to me, but maybe we could wait until TWOIAF is released to be on the safe side?
  6. It is because the "small council" template, which was included on Jaime's page (as {{Small council}}), had a link to "Baelor Targaryen". The template now links to "Baelor Targaryen (son of Daeron II)", however.
  7. Yep, it's probably a good decision. Aegon: Dany's nephew Aegon (Young Griff) is currently at "Aegon Targaryen", with disambiguation at "Aegon Targaryen (disambiguation)". Because of the frequency of Aegon being used by Targaryens and the repeated mentions of Aegon the Conqueror, it probably would be better to move Dany's nephew to "Aegon Targaryen (son of Rhaegar)". On a side note, separate articles could be created for characters like Aegon / Young Griff, Barristan / Arstan, and Catelyn / Stoneheart. We already have a split with the three-eyed crow and Brynden Rivers. Aerys: already a disambiguation at "Aerys Targaryen" Baelor: Disambiguation is currently at "Baelor (disambiguation)". Baelor Breakspear, currently at "Baelor Targaryen", can be moved to "Baelor Targaryen (son of Daeron II). Daella: "Daella Targaryen" can be a disambiguation for "Daella Targaryen (daughter of Jaehaerys I)" and "Daella Targaryen (daughter of Maekar I)". Daeron: "Daeron Targaryen" should be moved to "Daeron Targaryen (son of Maekar I)", allowing "Daeron Targaryen (disambiguation)" to be moved to "Daeron Targaryen". Jaehaerys: "Jaehaerys Targaryen (disambiguation)" can be moved to "Jaehaerys Targaryen" Viserys: Currently Dany's brother Viserys is at "Viserys Targaryen", with disambiguation at "Viserys Targaryen (disambiguation)". I'm not sure about this one - a case could be made that Dany's brother would be the most common usage by fans, since he appears in AGOT and Dany thinks of him periodically. Or, he could be moved to "Viserys Targaryen (son of Aerys II)" to be consistent with other Targaryens. Also, King Robert could be moved from "Robert Baratheon" to "Robert I Baratheon", which is phrasing used in the appendices and Barristan's White Book entry. Joffrey and Tommen would remain at without the numerals in their article titles, however, since they become monarchs after the start of AGOT.
  8. I like Fall less than Capture or Taking, actually, but it's still better than Battle. Here are the possibilities I've found based on GRRM's phrasing. *"Capture of Winterfell" (Theon tells Asha, "With thirty men, I captured Winterfell in a night") *"Taking of Winterfell" (Theon tells Bran, "But I've taken your castle, my prince"; Theon thinks to himself, "You took Winterfell with fewer than thirty men, a feat to sing of"; Cat tells Brienne, "[Rodrik] has gathered what power he could and is marching on Winterfell, to take the castle back") *"Fall of Winterfell" (Tyrion thinks, "The news of the castle's fall had come as a wrenching shock")
  9. Any opinions about the article titles for Battle of Winterfell, Sack of Winterfell, and Symon Silver Tongue? Separately, there is an article titled Armies with no other articles linking to it. It is unreferenced and needs a lot of work.
  10. Along the left-hand panel of each article, "What links here" should be within the Toolbox section which is below the Notable Releases section. Clicking that will bring up a screen displaying all other articles linking to the article in question. For instance, this shows all links to the article about Rhaenys Targaryen. The results page also allows you to filter by links and redirects. The latter is helpful to check because a redirect should never link to another redirect; double redirects often occur if an article has been moved a few times.
  11. "Aemon Targaryen" probably should be a disambiguation page, IMO. The maester is usually not referred to as "Aemon Targaryen" but as "Maester Aemon", so he could be moved from "Aemon" to "Aemon Targaryen (maester)" or "Aemon Targaryen (son of Maekar I)". I agree with Helena that Aegon III's daughter should be the primary article, because we currently know significantly more about her than about Gaemon's daughter. "Elaena Targaryen", the article about Aegon III's daughter, is currently flawed, however, because it doesn't have a disclaimer link to "Elaena Targaryen (daughter of Gaemon)". I agree that Aegon's Rhaena should probably be moved to "Rhaena Targaryen (daughter of Aegon III)". "Rhaena Targaryen (disambiguation)" would then be moved to "Rhaena Targaryen" - this is because "(disambiguation)" is only needed in a title if there is already a primary topic, and in this case Aegon's daughter would no longer be the primary topic. "Daeron Targaryen (disambiguation)" should probably be moved to "Daeron Targaryen", with links to "Daeron Targaryen (son of Viserys I)", "Daeron Targaryen (son of Maekar I)", and the two kings. That makes sense.
  12. Excellent question. In many cases the articles are currently titled based on when they were created, rather than relative importance. This is giving things mentioned in earlier works like AGOT and ACOK perhaps more weight than they should have. From WP:PRIMARYTOPIC: The article on the Stark guardsman Wyl was created in 2009 and the article on the Dornish castle Wyl was created in 2011, but both have minor importance to the story and neither would be a primary topic. We previously had the guard at "Wyl" and a disambiguation page at "Wyl (disambiguation)" until I moved the guard to "Wyl (guard)" and the disambiguation page to "Wyl", since there is no primary meaning. AWOIAF currently has an article about a maester at "Uthor" and a disambiguation page at "Uthor (disambiguation)". Maester Uthor does not seem to be significantly more important than Uthor Tollett or Uther Underleaf, IMO, so my recommendation would be to move the maester to "Uthor (maester)" and have "Uthor" be a disambiguation page. While not a POV character, Eddard's brother Benjen is more notable to readers than his ancestors of the same name, so he is correctly at "Benjen Stark" while Benjen the Bitter and Benjen the Sweet are mentioned at "Benjen Stark (disambiguation)". Each topic would have to be considered on a case by case basis, I think.
  13. Wikipedia's recommendations are at Manual of Style/Disambiguation pages. If there is a primary topic, such as Lord Walder Frey, then he should be bolded and linked in the first sentence of the disambiguation page ("Walder Frey (disambiguation)", with other articles named Walder Frey listed below (see WP:MOSDABPRIMARY). If there is no primary topic, such as the case with "Wyl", then that page should be a disambiguation page and "Wyl (disambiguation)" should not exist. Looking at Category:Disambiguation pages, there are probably a number of disambiguation pages that can have "(disambiguation)" removed from their names. Within a disambiguation page, only the entries being disambiguated should be linked (see WP:MOSDABENTRY). Using "Walder Frey (disambiguation)" as an example, Black Walder Frey's entry should be "Black Walder Frey, the second son of Ryman Frey", not "Black Walder Frey, the second son of Ryman Frey". The example of "Brandon Stark (disambiguation)" is currently overlinked (the only links on it should be to articles relating to Brandon Stark, not to their family members, lands, titles, spoilers, etc.). Regarding the example of Aemon the Dragonknight, it is currently the way it is because his article is at "Aemon Targaryen", with the disambiguation page being "Aemon Targaryen (disambiguation)". Since he is at "Aemon Targaryen", he is currently considered the primary topic and is emphasized at the start of "Aemon Targaryen (disambiguation)". If the Dragonknight article were to be renamed to "Aemon Targaryen (son of Viserys II)", then he would no longer be the primary topic for "Aemon Targaryen" and the disambiguation would be moved from "Aemon Targaryen (disambiguation)" to "Aemon Targaryen" (since the Dragonknight would then be at "Aemon Targaryen (son of Viserys II)"). In that case, the new disambiguation page, "Aemon Targaryen", would not emphasize the Dragonknight at the start (since he is no longer the primary topic) but would just list all possible Aemon Targaryens in alphabetical or chronological order.
  14. Two others are Category:Nobles and Category:Noblewomen. The articles in Nobles should be moved to Noblemen, or Noblewomen should be merged into Nobles.
  15. Are there any bots that can be used to quickly rename categories? With Wikipedia's category guidelines in mind, there are numerous categories that should be renamed; a few examples include: *"Category:Images By Artist" to "Category:Images by artist" *"Category:Images of Weirwood Trees" to "Category:Images of weirwood trees" or "Category:Images of weirwoods" *"Category:Location Images" to "Category:Location images" or "Category:Images of locations" *"Category:Character Images" to "Category:Character images" or "Category:Images of characters" *"Category:Places on the eastern continent" to "Category:Places in Essos" *"Category:Ibbenese Places" to "Category:Places in Ibben" It would take a long time to manually update each article to a new category.
  16. Based on Ran's comments I think info from PDF excerpts (such as Faith Militant uprising) should be excluded at the least. I'm not sure about content that is at So Spake Martin, though. Ran has uploaded some previous TWOIAF material to So Spake Martin (such as ChiCon) in 2012, which have been used for numerous articles over the last few years. He also has linked to the recent ConCarolinas reading (the source for some recent edits), but has the disclaimer that it is not 100% accurate.
  17. Since they never took the throne, maybe "Daemon Blackfyre (son of Daemon)" or "Daemon Blackfyre (John the Fiddler)"? Separately, the wiki now has TWOIAF info from the recent westerlands reading, as well as info from a no-longer-available Faith Militant excerpt from last year. Have they been approved by Ran for the wiki?
  18. The chapter released on the website takes place before the chapter read at WorldCon: This WorldCon summary indicates the read chapter (GRRM's Arianne II) is different from the website chapter (wiki's Arianne II).
  19. Wouldn't it be better to move the website sample from Arianne II to Arianne I then?
  20. GRRM had previously released a TWOW sample on his website in which Arianne This is called "Arianne II" on the wiki. GRRM has apparently read at WorldCon another Arianne chapter in which she Do we know of an earlier Arianne chapter (which would make the website sample "Arianne II" and the WorldCon reading "Arianne III"), or should the website sample be renamed "Arianne I"?
  21. Or perhaps "Territory of the Night's Watch" to include the Gift, the Wall, and their castles?
  22. What brings the idea to mind is Ran's quote here (bolding is mine): We already have Category:Places Beyond the Wall, even though that land can be considered part of the North in some contexts despite not being ruled from Winterfell. It is also already a subcategory of Places in the North. The Night's Watch category containing Queenscrown, the Gift, etc. can also be added as a subcategory of the North.
  23. Category:Places in the North currently includes locations in "the north proper" controlled by Winterfell as well as locations controlled by the Night's Watch, such as Queenscrown, Weatherback Ridge, and the castles along the Wall. Might it be better to move the latter articles to Category:Night's Watch and add that category to Category:Places in Westeros?
  24. I've used it in the past and George has written about it on his Not A Blog. If it ever has information that is contradicted by the books, however, the books take precedence.
