I used to believe the 'towers by the sea' that Mel saw crumbling under a black and bloody tide were from Aeron calling something magical down on the Iron Islands, but that obviously isn't gonna happen now. The bloody tide part definitely makes me think of Euron after reading this chapter, maybe he calls down some form of the Hammer of the Waters on a city by the sea? I believe he's trying to draw actual krakens by spilling blood into the sea, but it's possible he's working some bigger magic too. The city could be KL, Volantis, Meereen, etc. Tons of candidates. I haven't read all 30 pages of this thread, so forgive me if this has been brought up.

That does make sense and fits the vision. Maybe he waits till the battle is over and he's in the Narrow Sea on his way to Dany before he starts with the throat cutting. Blood sacrifices to get him good winds or something like that.

I don't remember the forest part from when the first descriptions were coming out. I wonder what it means. I was under the impression Euron meant to kill Aeron by lashing him to the prow, but that doesn't seem to be the case. He intends to use Aeron's blood for something. King's blood sacrifice? He also mentioned the blood of the other holy men though, so it could be some sort of mass sacrifice of holy men.

Mad King appearance was the best part of the episode for me, I was not expecting that. I need to see still's of that montage to really get a good look at him asap.

New detail. Oh yeah, definitely Cersei. That's it, I'm all aboard this ship. Westeros look out. He'll be dead before this happens. Tommen dies, Cersei uses wildfire to take out the Tyrells and Sparrows, then hooks up with Euron to make the baddest fucking power couple of all time!

Well, she's been killing random dwarfs by putting that bounty on Tyrion's head. She might keep some around to torment until she can get at Tyrion. Like I said, a man can dream.... EDIT: Oops, didn't mean to double post. Thought I was editing this post into the one above, my bad.

Good writeup on Reddit. Most interesting detail for me is this: That's some really blatant foreshadowing right there. Dany's not tall, so I don't think she's the bride though. I can't think of any female candidate for Queen described as tall actually. Is Cersei ever described as tall? Cersei and Euron, what a powerful villain couple they would make. A man can dream.... I really wish I had the actual text to get at all this obvious foreshadowing

Already knew the details of this one because he's read it at cons, but it's nice to read it myself. I usually try to find foreshadowing in these sample chapters, but I don't see any in this one. Maybe I'm just out of practice. I agree, Aegon + Arianne just makes too much sense not to happen. Unless I'm misremembering, there is a Dornish army waiting in the Boneway for Arianne to call for them by sending the word "Dragon" via raven. So she meets Aegon, decides to commit Dorne to him and suddenly the Dornish army pours out of the Boneway to crush the Tyrell army. Pretty simple. I think something will come of that whole "friends in the Reach" thing eventually, but I don't think it's how Aegon wins this particular battle.

I enjoyed the WOS and Arya's scenes, so I gave it a 2. Everything else was straight up garbage. I am in dread of the shit they will give us next season when they have no book material to go on at all. Not that they pay much heed to the stuff anyway :thumbsdown:

For real. And all indications are Jon's resurrection won't happen this episode either. So 3 death cliffhangers in one finale, maybe 4 depending on how they handle Dany's. Bullshit, even worse than GRRM. Gods I hope they clear up at least one of these in another scene before the episode ends.

Well, that confirms that the Queen of Thorns slipped Joff the poison. You can clearly see her palm the jewel off of Sansa's necklace while fiddling with her hair, which is then missing a piece. And when Tyrion picked up the cup to give Joff his last drink it had been sitting right in front of her at the table. LF had already hinted at it strongly in the books, but it's nice to have it confirmed. Also, that whole convo with Bran about how he'll forget Winterfell and his familiy if he stays in his wolf for too long made me worry about Jon...I think the personality changes in him after he's resurrected are going to be more drastic than some people are anticipating. Maybe some Lord Beric style memory problems.

And LF does say this in ACOK: He is frightened of Sheep, aka lambs. I should add that to the original post! :)

Ah, yes it does kind of, doesn't it. I could definitely see it coming down to Tyrion trying to save his own life by "hiding" behind his marriage to Sansa, his bird armor, by the end of the story (you know, when the Starks win). Pod killing Tyrion would be....interesting to say the least :wideeyed:

I think Little Pigeon's fate might parallel that of Littlefinger's. This is the description of LP from ADWD: A little man with a big ego, sounds a bit like LF. This is how he dies according to Azador's report: He trips over his bird armor, and dies for it. LF is planning on (supposedly) marrying Sansa, the little bird, off to some powerful man (Harry the Heir at the moment, but that could change) so that he can secure his own position. I suppose you could say she is kind of like his armor. He gets killed by a lamb. and LF says this in ACOK: The Red Lamb who kills LP is not interested in gold, only blood. I'm struggling to connect him to anyone. Here is the only description of him from ADWD: I'm thinking maybe the Hound....but the Hound was interested in gold at one point, so it's not a perfect connection. If someone can think of a better fit, please do.

There was definitely a White Walker in the premiere episode. It cuts off that guys head...

Was that thing on the horse at the end a White Walker or a Wight? It looked quite a bit different from the White Walker that was in the series premiere... Sorry if this has been asked before.

This is a long thread, so my apologies if this has already been brought up. But, did anyone else think Tywin made Arya eat that food because he thought it may have been poisoned? He made it clear in that scene that he thought the wolfsbane that killed Amory Lorch was meant for him. Tywin doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who would just give food away out of the kindness of his heart like that.

Why didn't they make that Renly death scene the end of episode 4? It seems to me that would have fit much better that way than as the beginning of episode 5. Very strange decision by the producers imo. EDIT: Just so it's clear I'm not complaining, I actually thought it was a good episode otherwise.

The only thing I didn't like about this episode was that it did not end where I expected it to. I thought for sure we would end this one with and that would set up the cliffhanger for next week. It would have been epic. I don't know why they would push that to the beginning of next week's episode. They ended it at 50 min too, so they had at least 10 more minutes to fit it in.
