  1. They dont use month names, they just use dates. Daenerys name day is listed in European style 1/6/298. I added the month name to make it easier because the Euro date set up makes me look at as January.
  2. A timeline of the books put together shows the dates here: http://towerofthehand.com/essays/johnny/roberts_rebellion.html
  3. I think that the easiest explanation is that the 3 King's Guard had no idea that Aerys made Viserys his heir. It does not seem to be a widely talked about or known fact.
  4. Rhaegar left just before New Year 281 (so basically the beginning of 282) "The False Spring of 281 AC lasted less than two turns. As the year drew to a close, winter returned to Westeros with a vengeance. On the last day of the year, snow began to fall upon King's Landing, and a crust of ice formed atop the Blackwater Rush. The snowfall continued off and on for the best part of a fortnight, by which time the Blackwater was hard frozen, and icicles draped the roofs and gutters of every tower in the city. As cold winds hammered the city, King Aerys II turned to his pyromancers, charging them to drive the winter off with their magics. Huge green fires burned along the walls of the Red Keep for a moon's turn. Prince Rhaegar was not in the city to observe them, however. Nor could he be found in Dragonstone with Princess Elia and their young son, Aegon. With the coming of the new year, the crown prince had taken to the road with half a dozen of his closest friends and confidants, on a journey that would ultimately lead him back to the riverlands. Not ten leagues from Harrenhal, Rhaegar fell upon Lyanna Stark of Winterfell, and carried her off, lighting a fire that would consume his house and kin and all those he loved—and half the realm besides." Daenerys' 14th Name Day is in early June 298, meaning that she was born in June 284. We know that Daenerys was born @ 8 to 9 months after Jon according to GRRM, meaning Jon was born @ August/ September 283. So yes, there is technically enough time IF Rhaegar got Lyanna pregnant immediately and then did the same as soon as Jon was born.. But again, that would mean that Jon was actually born @ September 282. Meaning that by the time he arrived at Winterfell he would have had to be @ 15 months old. There is now way that any one is ever going to think that Jon was younger than Robb. And if Ned did have a 15 month old bastard that would mean Ned slept with a women BEFORE his marriage to Cat, and it not have been a dishonor to her or their marriage (yes, Ned would still see it as a dishonor but would Cat?)
  5. This depends on a few things and it changes a few things. One, does Tywin still suspect that Tyrion's true father might be Aerys? Two, does Tywin really blame Tyrion for the death of Joanna? Things could change as well. Does Aerys still name Jaime to the King's Guard if Tywin has a suitable heir in Tyrion? Part of the reason Aerys did this was to screw over Tywin, does he bother if it really is not that big a deal anymore? Is Jaime still as big as a hostage for Aerys if Tywin has an heir in Tyrion? Does he wait to join the Rebellion till he knows that Jaime can be saved from Aerys' grip? We know Cersei has a thing for blond haired Lannisters, does Cersei replace Jaime with Tyrion if Jaime leaves like she did with Lancel?
  6. Because Rhaegar and Lyanna were married and she was pregnant with his child. Aerys and Aegon were protected in the Capitol with another King's Guard, the Targaryen army and the cities Goldcloaks. They were safer than Lyanna was.
  7. For that to be true, Lyanna would had to been pregnant already at Harrenhal. Would need at least 18 months to give birth to two children, the war was not long enough for that to be true unless Lyanna was pregnant BEFORE she left with Rhaegar (meaning that her kid would be who's exactly?) Plus, then Jon would be considerably older than Robb, something that someone would have noticed when a toddler showed up at Winterfell next to infant Robb.
  8. The King's Guard would have needed to stay at the Tower to see if the baby was a boy or girl. If Lyanna's unborn child is a boy it is ahead of Viserys in the line of succession. So they had to stay till the baby was born. Lyanna died AFTER the birth due to infection/ fever (probably @ a week to 2 weeks later). If the baby had been a girl, most likely two of the guards would have left to be with Viserys and the third would have stayed with plans to escort Lyanna and the baby Targaryen Princess to Dragonstone when they were OK to travel.
  9. If Barristan knows anything about a secret Targaryen it is about Tyrion
  10. Manderly doesn't care about the Night's Watch, he is looking to restore the Starks due to a family debt. If Jon is a Stark, that is as far as he is going to care.
  11. I think that in the end Jon will end up with Lightbringer (Dark Sister or Dawn), and he will give Jorah is family sword back. Jorah will have Longclaw (with a new handle courtesy of Daenerys) and he will be the 1000th LC of the Night Watch (thought the Wall will be gone and the True North will be part of the Kingdom now, the Watch will move further North and guard the lands of Man, and protect the Free Men.)
  12. It is going to suck for you when it happens
  13. 1: Tyrion 2: Jon and Daenerys will rule from Harrenhal 3: They will rebuild because Jon will see to it 4:the Boltons will be long dead before any of this happens
  14. Rickon is a Shaggydog story, and only exists to get Jon to Skagos to wake the Dragon from Stone
  15. Jon (true born) and Tyrion (bastard)
  16. That is why I said most likely the Westerlands and the Vale. In the end I do not see the Arryns supporting a war over a Stark girl running away with Rhaegar of her own accord. And Tywin would sit it out until he knew Jaime was safe. As soon as Rhaegar has Aerys detained then Tywin is free to make a deal with Rhaegar (free Jaime of his Oath) to get the Westerlands support. Hoster still has the Stark marriage deal (and another Stark son to marry Lysa if it comes to that), plus if Robert can be seen to forgive Rhaegar for the sake of the Alliance then Robert can marry Cersie, Lysa can still marry Jon. As far as the support of Dorne, I am sure they are not thrilled about the second marriage, but his marriage to Lyanna was about love and prophecy not about putting a Stark on the Throne. Plus, Rhaegar can not have sex with Elia again for fear of her dying. They can easily sate Dorne by insuring them that Elia will be the Queen at court and Aegon will be the Crown Prince. Probably have Lyanna live at Dragonstone instead of the Red Keep (or some other keep away from the Capitol)
  17. Because it takes that long to travel to Dorne
  18. If Brandon and Rickon had not been murdered by Aerys, then Rhaegar would have had time to reach out to the Starks and explain the situation that led to him and Lyanna running off. In that case there is a good chance that the Starks agree to support Rhaegar for the Throne against his father. And a good chance that the war does not happen at all. Rhaegar strolls into King's Landing and calls for a Grand Council and has his father detained. Rhaegar now has the support of the North, The Riverlands, Dorne, most likely the Westerlands and the Vale. No way the Reach stands against that. Really only Robert is pissed, because of Lyanna but I think he could have been satisfied (through Royal favor and Tywin agreeing to marry his beautiful daughter to Robert).
  19. Brown Ben is only there to show that the dragons respond to Targaryen blood, to set the stage for two other Targaryens that will become riders.
  20. Giving Sheepstealer the mutton every morning is not how she tamed him, it was her way of letting her get close to him because he was wild. The bonding would be due to her dragon blood.
  21. No one with out dragon blood has ever ridden a dragon, how do you suppose Missandei will do it?
  22. 1: You dont think there is there is at least foreshadowing of Jon and Daenerys together? The Three heads of the Dragon, blue flower in the Wall, Daenery's younger more comely dream lover, Val's hair being silver in the moonlight, etc.... Daenerys as top dog? OK. I have no problem with that, it is just that Jon is not going to be powerless like some paramount. He will be in the relationship and on the throne (just like Daenerys) because he holds power and has the birthright. 2: You mean other than these: "The smoke and ash clouded his eyes, and in the sky he saw a great winged snake whose roar was a river of flame. He bared his teeth, but then the snake was gone. Behind the cliffs tall fires were eating up the stars." "He had to get down on his knees to gather up the books he'd dropped. I should not have brought so many, he told himself as he brushed the dirt off Colloquo Votar's Jade Compendium, a thick volume of tales and legends from the east that Maester Aemon had commanded him to find. The book appeared undamaged. Maester Thomax's Dragonkin, Being a History of House Targaryen from Exile to Apotheosis, with a Consideration of the Life and Death of Dragons had not been so fortunate. It had come open as it fell, and a few pages had gotten muddy, including one with a rather nice picture of Balerion the Black Dread done in colored inks." 3: Stannis did not come to the Wall to fight the Others, he came to fight the Wildlings.
  23. Having a pet Direwolf and warging one are two different things. And maybe it is a combination of the right bloodlines Blackwood & Stark or Blackwood and Targaryen... All I know is that Bloodraven is a powerful warg and he is not a Stark, but is a Blackwood.
  24. Yes, Tyrion's quote to fAegon is about fAegon getting throne, but it is also in larger terms about fAegon marrying Daenerys and uniting the Targaryen House. If you zoom out and look at the grander scale it could be seen as foreshadowing of what GRRM has planned for the story. If he does indeed mean for Jon and Daenerys to end up together, then as Tyrion pointed out, Daenerys is not going to be attracted to someone who is weak and not in a position of leverage. Jon can not come forward with a beggar bowl. I am not saying that Jon will approach Daenerys in that manner, but that the story will bring them togther at a point that Jon will have an army of followers and a Dragon, but will also need help in the battle for the dawn. As far as Daenerys coming to aid Jon even if he is not a Targaryen, no one else in the series takes what is happening up North seriously, why would Daenerys and her people? They will only have hersay and rumor to go on. Wild stories about monsters and grumkins. No one else seems to be worried. Now if she hears about a Dragon and Rhaegar's son? GRRM loves to play the slight of hand game. Look at what he did with Robb. Here is the heroic boy King going to avenge his father, then wham he is dead. Leaving Jon to be the hero Well, here is the green dragon, named after the romantic hero Prince, then boom he is dead. Then Jon finds a new third dragon. I never said Jon becoming a Targaryen will make him want to be a King. He will not seek the Throne, he will only seek a way to defeat the Others. In the end, the Crown will be thrust upon him. And I never said becoming a Targaryen will gain him followers in the North, being Robb's heir will do that. Why would Daenerys believe what is happening in the North, when no one else does? A Targaryen with a Dragon? That is something she would go check out. Jon does not need to have a dragon that is not Daenerys, that is just the foreshadowing that GRRM has set up. He has foreshadowed Jon waking a dragon on Skagos, and connected a muddy dragon to Jon. Plus it fits with the way that he sets up stories (killing a character who looks like they are important, only to find another one. See Robb)
  25. I am not saying that the quote will be Jon's plan, but that it will be GRRM's framework for what will happen. Jon will be reborn/ wake as a Targaryen. He will find a dragon. The dragon will in turn prove that he is a Targaryen. Daenerys will come to his aid because 1: he needs help and 2: he is a proven Targaryen. And it is not about Jon having the biggest dragon or some other macho bullshit like that. What it is about is Jon having his own dragon and not one of Daenerys' dragons. A living dragon from before the Dance of the Dragons is the only real way for that to happen. It is too late for an egg to hatch, as it would not be nearly big enough to make a difference now, and at this point not even Drogon could carry Jon on his back.
