  1. Only 10 replies half an hour after the season finale ends... Hm, Blackwater had at least 10 pages by this point last week. Anyway, I liked the episode very much, but I cannot say I loved it. While it had a lot of great scenes, the majority of which coming from Daenerys' story arc, I could not shake the feeling that it was slightly anticlimactic. I suppose that is OK since there was absolutely no possible way they were going to top the Blackwater episode, and we all need to come to terms with that if we do not want to feel disappointed. As an aside, there was one thing that really irked me, and it had nothing to do with the story or the acting. It actually comes from the technical side of things. Why does it seem like any time something fantastical screams, it sounds the same? I am thinking of the dragons, the shadow baby, and the Others. I honestly thought the sound editors just recycled the same sound for all three of these creatures and slightly altered it. I was hoping for some booming, deep voice to wrap up the season, and I all got instead was an scream identical to the two creatures I just mentioned. Oh well.. Commence the S3 premiere countdown.
  2. How could this episode earn a rating of anything other than a 10. I mean, really.. GRRM = BA Mofo.
  3. Anyone else digging this song during the end credits?
  4. Heartbreaking scene for the Hound... acting and writing both are so good this episode!! Shit!
  5. Hmm... Stannis first to charge the beach and first to climb the ladders putting himself in harm's way. He is trying his hardest to be cannon fodder, is he not?
  6. Hmm... The line about Cersei having a better chance of seducing Stannis' horse would have had slightly more impact if we had not seen Stannis get seduced early this season...
  7. The wide shot of the wildfire explosion... That.... Was.... Gorgeous.
  8. "That would make me the Quarterman." Fucking brilliant!
  9. I believe he has the honor of penning just one episode a season, and it was confirmed long ago that he is writing the Blackwater episode (2.9). Also, I think D&D were given credit for the writing during the opening credits, just as all the other episodes displayed the one(s) responsible with the task of writing the episode script.
  10. Only if Roose sired Ramsay when he was 8, could I see Dagmer being Ramsay. Otherwise, no way. Dagmer is too old to be Ramsay. I think D&D simply merged the two characters as far as the events of ACoK go. Ramsay may make an appearance in the season finale.
  11. For those of you who are complaining that Tywin is ordering his own men to be killed, has it occurred to you that the corpses we saw might just be prisoners like Jaqen who simply wear Lannister armor and serve the war effort instead of wasting away in a prison cell? We know Tywin wanted to put these prisoners to good use, but I honestly do not think Tywin hesitates in killing these prisoners-turned-soldiers in hopes of finding the assassin. They were never Lannister men to begin with.
  12. With Alton's murder, Jamie is digging an even deeper hole for him to crawl out of in order for viewers to change their opinions about him. I guess readers were not really given the opportunity to warm up to him until ASoS anyway, but interesting deviation they took with Jamie's escape attempt.
  13. Pyat Pree's cloning trick is a little annoying, but they have certainly upped the ante on the Qarth scenes. The council massacre was definitely unexpected, but I thought it suited the story well. XXD and Pyat Pree need to be fried to a crisp. Doreah's disappearance is still a mystery. Did XXD persuade her to betray Daenerys?
  14. Cheese Pudding, regarding Tyrion's chain, I cannot possibly foresee them including it in the battle. There is absolutely no setup for it whatsoever, and that is really a shame. I wished to see some of Tyrion's tactical brilliance come to life.
  15. What did Dagmer show Theon before they ordered Maester Luwin to be sent back to Winterfell? It looked like walnut shells - ones that Rickon would throw to the side after snacking. Oh yea, eery music at the conclusion, which set the mood perfectly. More deviations from the book obviously, but I am not going to complain about any of them. Terrific episode.
  16. Speaking of the Spice King, has anyone else thought of Vizzini from "The Princess Bride" when you hear the Spice King talk? They both have that same whiny voice at times. Maybe that was a bit of a stretch... Oh well!
  17. All of these scenes with Tywin and Arya catches me offguard. I am supposed to hate this man for what he did to Tyrion, but I cannot help but like him at the moment with his backstory he discusses with Arya. Show me Tyrion and Tywin scenes again so I can remember why I am supposed to hate this man!
  18. I personally think Bryan Cogman and Vanessa Taylor's episodes have been the best so far this season. That is not to take credit away from D&D, but just an interesting fact I noticed. As has been mentioned before, D&D has taken the hardest parts of the story to adapt for their own episodes. Still, episode 6 was great. Here's to hoping we can see the ratings and audience numbers continue to rise!
  19. Theon's last kick to detach the head from the torso was graphic as hell.
  20. The Faceless Men are best at what they do. I think we can all agree on that!
  21. Uh... wtf just happened here at the end? I did not see that one coming. Guess Dany has more incentive to visit Pyat Pree at the HotU.
  22. My apologies Ravenhair, but frankly, this list of complaints is just absurd. 1. You already said it. Tyrion thought about it in the books, and in the show, he acted on that thought. What's wrong with that? 2. Just because he gave it to her once does not mean he cannot give it to her again at his departure, nor would it lessen the impact. I thought it was very appropriate for his character to be the ONLY one to help out Sansa in her dire situation. 3. They are trimming fat? Who would not want to see the actors who play Tywin and Arya reenact a similar relationship from the books? 6. Really? THIS is one of your nitpicks? They left out a line of interrogation? 7. Would the fact that Davos is an accomplice (by choice or not) in Renly's assassination not benefit the story more? Also, do we really want to see ANOTHER shadow baby for the castellan of Storm's End? Once is enough. 8. They were brothers after all. Also, not only was Stannis' offer to Renly in the books, Renly IS, in fact, the heir to Stannis until he produces an heir of his own, ALL OF WHICH Stannis stated in the show. 10. Ned's bones were used as a bargaining chip for persuading Cat to consider Tyrion's offer, which he suggested in an earlier episode this season. What of it? I am just happy you actually added some positive comments thrown in with that exceedingly long list of criticisms. As others said, D&D are being as faithful to the books as they possibly can while still making what they believe to be GREAT TV. You cannot QQ at every alteration. Be grateful that we even have ASoIaF being offered to us in a different medium.
  23. That Daenerys scene at the gates of Qarth... I thought it showcased how bold and unrelenting Dany was trying to be with her hosts. She already showed up with what?... a 20-25 person khalasar, and she needed to prove that she was not as weak as she appeared to the Elders. That scene was all about her posturing. Her gamble paid off, but even I admit I was wondering how it was going to play out until Xaro bailed her out with this "Sumai" agreement.
