  1. Oh my god.. you are watching a show where innocents are killed, raped, tortured and generally fucked over in every way, and you find this tasteless. After watching 4 seasons (and maybe read 5 books?), and seen what the characters are capable of, one wouldn`t think you excepted a personae of high moral standing. This universe strives to be realistic in terms of characters and actions, and I do not think, sadly, people in the middle ages had very high regard for the mentally challenged. Have you ever heard the term "the village idiot"? This type of double standard, sanctimonious political correctness is tasteless and uncomfortable to listen to. And very Amercian, I am sad to say.
  2. 8. Which means it was a bit disappointing, being the most anticipated episode this season, thus far. As others, I wasn`t crazy about the grey worm/missandei stuff. Arya showing up at the Vale - hmmm, wonder what happens next? The beetle was a classic show-GOT monologue, far too long, like Gollums redundant raving to his reflection in the water in LOTR 3. Sansa as cruella de ville in her new black dress was..interesting. The whole scene should have been swapped with Tyrion vs the Viper- as in the book. Let us get a closer relationship with him, and let us believe he in fact will win-before he goes. ANd it would give us an extra scene with the great Pascal. The Duel was good, but not great. Should have lasted a copule of minutes longer. Showing the Mountain wearing out, and hacking down the stable boy. Oberyn a bit too elastic, and the Mountain could have depicted a bit more imposing and ominous ( by ways of filming, the actor is imposing enough).
  3. I cannot understand why you and many others are screaming for PW this season. In the books it was in the second part of ASOS, well after RW. Do you really think they should cram in such a major event, in the next episode after that massacre? Is that good storytelling? No, let the show breathe, let it sink in, and let people wait a bit for their sweet vengeance. Plus, we have learned, that in GOT they have the big event in ep 9, and more of a setup in the last episode, so what`s the suprise. And that it`s talked about all season, so what? So it was in the books. Is it something that is in the true spirit of GRRM, its draaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagging things out, before hitting you smack in the face.
  4. It was solid. Loved the Tywin-Joffrey-Tyrion- scene, right from the book. Had hoped they would NOT show the wolfs head cause they thought made me queasy, as reading about it in the books did. (But when they decided to show it, why could`nt they show the wolfman in danys foreshadowing last season?? argh) Bit suprised they didn`t show the black gate, but I guess they meant it was too "Narnia", and my Unsullied girlfriend agreed to that. Think Coldhands should have been here though. Can`t understand why so many expected LS to show up. You need some time to digest her death, before having her pop back up again. People who were shocked, and are in grief after RW, would not see it as redeeming to have a hateful zombie Cat resurrection. They would think it inappropriate and f***d up, I always thought that bit was a bit borderline myself. Anyway , better to let it lie now, and have a great shocker in S4. The ending WAS a bit too Avatar/Disney, but I understand, they want to end with a positive, grandiose, feelgood scene, after last episode. In all, this was the best season, and GOD, if they do things right, s4 might top it!
  5. Very strong- give it a 9. I still don`t get why people react to the nudity scenes- do they forget that the books are filled with sexploitation? I really hoped it was the Other and not coldhands, because I was afraid they would drop Sam the Slayer. Beauuuuuuutiful scene. I agree with Rob and Cat - They have been toned down too much and viewers will not be able too care as much about them and their futures as in the book. Same as the indifferent, sloppy treatment of the Bran and Rickon alleged deaths in season 2. So what could be the most shocking scene in tv history next sunday sadly won`t be, I fear. (but I am stoked as hell nevertheless, of course ;P)
  6. Yes, sorry to say you do have some issues. If you mute scenes of a show, you shouldn`t be watching it.
  7. The butterfly effect is getting stronger and stronger. The total change of Hotu will cause big ripples throughout the show, as the visions become such a strong part of Dany in the books to follow. Also as propechies for the readers to digest considering the future of Westeros. I guess this all somehow got too complicated for the writers. Sadly. It seems they don`t want the readers guessing, or being deceived, as GRRM does. My guess is the writers don`t know all the story, they just get their chapters to adapt, without considering the Butterfly effect. Something which is dangerous for a work like ASOIAF, where almost everything is connected. So needless to say, I`m a very eager to see how they will handle RW. Worst case it will be no suprise-no shock at all.. I guess us readers just have to continue to work on separating the show from the books, cause it CAN only get more different as the road winds. And be grateful for the fact that the books have made it to the screen at all.
  8. TOTALLY agree with Summer_Stark. I think at least half the viewers would have been fooled if they had set it up similarly to the book. And the reason we keep believing it is that Martin lets it become common knowlege in the realm that they are dead. Why the hell they let cat release Jaime before her knowledge of the boys is beyond me.
  9. Good episode. Again they stray from the book, which is ok because the come up with good stuff, but in a lot I just don`t understand why they would change something which is great in the first place. For ex Jon and Ygritte. And Tyrion/Cersei. They have tons of sparkling dialogue from the book but use their own material, which sadly is a bit repetetive and redundant. But that was the case with the first season as well... Altoghether great television, but my disappointment thus far is the lack of SHOCK and TERROR! Which is something GRRM is a master at (though I admit I am an extremely easy target). I mention the following events where the suprise factor was non-present: 1. Stannis suddenly laying siege to Renly. 2. The outcome of the battle of the two-the shadow 3. Theon suddenly taking Winterfell 4. Last episode had the next to greatest shock moment of all the books, which made me throw away the book in disbelief, and I had to skip to the end of the book to be sure they were alive( I KNOW, CALL ME STUPID) In the show, everyone gets that its the orphan boys. D and D has kept GRRMs tone in terms of the brutality, grittiness and sex, but they fail, or seem less interested in maintaining the WTF-moments of the sadistic genius that is Martin. I stress that this is still a Great TV-show.
  10. Hmmm... A bit ambiguous about this episode.. I agree with ckal about cutting major scenes and dragging out others, like the Joffrey one, And the beginning, please just a little tast of battle?? and too much littlefinger, especially as I am not a lover of Aiden Gillen performance in this role. It seems like its really a priority for HBO to give him screen time, much more than i than in the book, at this point. But i guess they have a plot objective for it.... The parley was rushed, the shadow baby cool, but maybe should be a bit more subtle? However in my opinion they should have kept the order which is in the book. In the prebattle stage, I was really perplexed as to how this would turn out. Renly with his superior numbers, still there was a feeling of Stannis having a card up his sleeve. Still I was certain there would be a battle, and I was really taken unawares by the shadow scene. Now they are showing the shadow up front, and Renlys death is pretty much a given, furthermore, I`m afraid we are not even going to see it. Tyrion and Lancel scene spot on, So is Bron; laughed out loud at the no cure for being a cunt-remark. Great to have a introduction to Harrenhal and the characters, like Polliver and the tickler. The Mountain: to be renamed the beanstalk. I am very liberal to appearance compared to the books, but sorry; if it is really true that HBO decided that Conan Stevens didn`t work, we are looking at a casting tragedy. He is 7-2" and IS a mountain. The new guy has the height, but no more. Good to se Tywin though, Charles Dance is perfect. Qarth scene-hmm. The qarthians looked like a mix of all sorts, expected them to look more middle-east.. The scene and dialog was not very good. Seemed like they prolonged the dialog to avoid showing the dragons, cause we used our special effects money on the Harrenhal and Qarth visuals-which by the way were fantastic. GOT-standard a medium ep i my view
