Aside from the fact that Serena Williams was not a better player than Rafael Nadal, you also cant make that comparison. She played in a different sport, with very different competition. You can compare her to other female players, but you can not say she was better than Nadal. She never played Nadal, and if she had, Nadal would not have given her 1 game. Compare her to those she played, or compare her historically. But not cross sports. And against Nadal, who achieved so much and has been such a legend. I was much more impressed with Nadal the last 20 years fighting in a very crowded field than I was by Williams who played an ever revolving cast of Russian/Belarusian players who would disappear a year later. And still I think she is a legend in her own right and worthy of the acclaim she gets.

Well we can actually. I agree with Baxus that there is really zero reason to bring a female player into it though, feels like you do that because you're American, she's American, but its incredibly hamfisted to lump her into a discussion with the Big 3. Let her be by far the best in the women's field, as a Big 1, which she was in her prime. Also, why would we need "a Big 3 and Serena" That feels incredibly artificial , to just add that in there, and you know it. Whats next, we need a Big 3 and Nascar? We need a big 3 and Peyton Manning? And can we have another big 3? I doubt with the charm that got the first time, but I can hope. Getting another Federer would be a dream. But I do think Sinner, Alcaraz, and an as yet upcoming youngser could make a new Big 3, or Big 4.

Its going to be very tight between those 4 teams yes, which is exciting. And I still dont count a great run from the Suns and Lakers, so that is 6 potential finalists. But those top 4 look rock solid. For me, Denver still slight favorite.

New Guy Ritchie film has a great cast, will watch that in cinema.

A bit early to start thinking Djokovic is going downhill based on 1 Grand Slam and after the year he had last year. I think the reality is that he will continue to be excellent but that Sinner and Alcaraz , and occasionally also Medvedev will be able to compete with him all the way in most or all tournaments.

I even bought one of the Dinotopia sequels Gurney did, or maybe even 2. The artwork is just astonishing, he is just a master of his craft.

Avatar and Shogun trailer looked popping, really looking forward to those. Road House looks like fun, will see that, has Gyllenhaal who I always like and McGregor.

Weirdly, some of this stuff doesnt sound so unlikely. Its just impossible to know if some dude made all of this up or its real intel. I remember we got massive spoilers on TORN for season 1 which seemed quite absurd and of which a large part was eventually correct.

The interesting about the Bombadil suggestion is that I saw The Adventures of Tom Bombadil is being reprinted in August to coincide with Season 2 of the Rings of Power, as per the book publisher. So that suggests that while nothing has been mentioned yet, behind the scenes they seem to be looking at an August-September premiere. And Bombadil, in whatever capacity, might well be in season 2, which is exciting, as long as they dont make it ridiculous.

I agree , Sinner has the best chances of the other 3. Zverev never beats Djokovic and Medvedev, he did it but its been a few years feels like.

I didnt expect a Zverev win either, though I did think he has the game to make it hard on Alcaraz as I seem to vaguely recall from their previous matches. Of course Zverev has been a legit top 5 player again since his return from injury so this does not come completely out of the blue when laid next to the pattern of erratic Alcaraz performances since Wimbledon. For whatever reason, Alcaraz has been a lot more vulnerable. Now, this means Zverev has to beat Medvedev and Sinner beat Djokvic. Can Zverev do that? Well historically he has a lot of problems with Medvedev and a very bad 1:1 record, but as I recall he did beat him last year in an important match. I think this is a 50:50 match. Sinner vs Djokovic, well Sinner has been superb so far, and pre-Aussie Open has been the man to make life incredibly hard for Djokovic. I dont know how big his chances are though, very hard to estimate. The fact that Djokovic has had a few wobbly games and Sinner hasnt, means nothing, that is something we know from our extensive experience with Djokovic, he is oftentimes not a Federer-like "first 4 rounds in straight sets barreling through" guy.

Bizarre and frankly totally unexplicable. I find this a much stranger move than sacking Griffin who there was a lot of rumdlings about apparently since he started.

Well, I have bought the massive tome that is 1Q84 and will read that at some point. Also bought Ishiguro's Klara and the Sun as a well regarded counterweight a third of its size, both books really intrigue me.

Best I saw: Last of Us We own the City White Lotus S2 Tokyo Vice House of the Dragon Rings of Power Sandman ( though thats probably a 2022 release) Kenobi ( Also a 2022 release) Succession s4 I dont really enjoy watching it because everybody is so terrible but its a well made show. Beef: not a superb show but I enjoyed it. Old Man with Jeff bridges. Still to watch: new seasons of Outlander, Yellowstone season 5, Andor , Ahsoka.

Highlander very much looking forward to that. Swan Song also, that could be great.

Its a return to form, much better than s4.

Personally I prefer season 2 over 3, found it a lot more engaging due to the lead actors.
