  1. I think you missed my point. There are clearly two separate canons now, it seems. But what they have in common is that Dany's fireproof thing (temporary or forever after, doesn't matter) is for her only, not other Targaryans. The book canon is different. Just accept it and move on. But that was not my point.
  2. Why do people (not just you) keep transposing Dany's fire proof-ness to all Targaryans, as if it was a family trait. IT IS NOT. Not in the books. And not in the show. It is a DANY specific thing, in both the book and the show.
  3. Is this kind of statistical information available someone summarized for all episodes?
  4. Then why do you keep giving out 7's and 8's then? But since someone had the audacity to rate this a "10", you feel the need to compensate by lowering your score? Man up and own your own score. I rated this a 9, and my grade does not change depending on what others discuss in this forum.
  5. I gave this episode a *9*. (501 was an 8, 502 a 7) This was a very good episode, the scenes were allowed to breath, and the editing and transition between story lines worked much better than usual. Best bits: - I really enjoyed the Sansa story line, which surprised me. Strong performances all around. Roose is so smooth, filling the Tywin vacuum. - Jon snow, becoming the man. - Jonathan Pryce! - Brienn/Pod scene - Great scenery... Volantis, the neck. And snow drifts around Winterfell. Winter is coming.
  6. I gave it a 10 - best season finale yet! Best: + Bran & blood raven Worst: - no Tysha reference (but hey, if that saves us from lots of "where do whores go?" it is a net bonus!!!)
  7. The message was perfectly fine. Tyrion not finishing the story is part of the point - that he still hasn't discovered the answer. One possible interpretation: He feels like people are just playthings for the cruel whims of the gods. Did we need it spelled out for us in a "this is what it means" package? I thought it was a great moment between Tyrion and Jamie.
  8. Some people (like Elio & Linda) have made the point that the show really doesn't build up the dread enough... This is a difficult thing for a book reader to argue back and forth, but I would suggest that people who think the show did not build the dread should listen to this podcast about the episode from non-readers: http://espn.go.com/espnradio/grantland/player?id=9342264 Go ahead. Listen to it.
  9. I gave this episode a *6*. (Lowest of the season, the others have been 7s, 8s, and a 9) A good episode, but far too uneven. There was a lot of really good scenes, but also some less the good scenes. Primary negatives: - Arya and Melisandre, I did not care for this at all. - Loras was a bit over-the-top Primary positives: - Melisandre's scene with Thoros and Beric (great way to introduce Thoros' back story) - The wall climb, even though some of the effects were not up to normal standard - Jon/Ygritte scenes, this is the first time there has been really excellent chemistry between them - both before the climb, and at the top - Tywin/Olenna, 'nuff said
  10. Seriously? The only thing that [show]Karstark talks about is getting revenge for his sons. How can you have missed that?
  11. I gave this episode an '8' - a high 8, the best of the season. (My previous grades: 3x01: 8, 3x02: 7) Overall I really appreciate the comedy bits (all really funny), juxtapositioned with disturbing elements. Also, I was VERY impressed by the first directorial effort by our show-runners. Best bits: + Initial funeral scene + Musical chairs at the council meeting :) + Pod escapades :D + Mance's "ever the artists" + Dany stuff + Hot Pie goodbye - surprisingly poignant (and funny) + hand cutting well done Worst bits: - Why no exterior view of Riverrun? I missed that. - I did not care for the end credits music
  12. Hmm... I have to give this episode a 6. (I gave the last one an 8) All scenes were ok, but few stood out - only two great scenes stood out: + Brans initial dream was great, and the callbacks to the pilot episode + I also thought the Joffrey/Margaery scene was great Otherwise most of the scenes were just quick shortcuts to get the characters into the places needed for the real meat of the season to start. And a lot of forest encounters. :) Oh, one more thing. I *REALLY* like Kaye(?) as Thoros of Myr. I'm looking forward to seeing more of him.
  13. My grade - 8: I really enjoyed this - the slower pacing (compared to S2) really helped - The scenes were all of sufficient length. Positives: + A Giant  + I liked Jon/Mance's first conversation. Not like the book version, but I think it worked well - and was a nice bit subtle reminders of what happened to Jon last season. + All of Tyrions's scenes were gold. (w/Cersei, w/Bronn, w/Tywin) + Liked the Sansa/Shae scene. Ros did not bother me here at all. + Margery/Cersei conflict is gearing up to be awesome - I like how this is being set up + Dragons! + Krazny + Missandrei - I love how this is being setup, and that they are keeping the translation ruse + Selmy - I'm glad they skipped the "Whitebeard" identity. + Almost forgot, VALYRIAN! Negatives: - Not the best cliff-hanger resolution at the Fist. - Qyburns introduction was a bit strange, and went by too fast.
