  1. Mrs. Cooterian did use a stand up mixer to mix the ingrediants and when she got ready to press them into place, it was a fine powder. I really didn't think it would set. I think shortbread is the best way to describe this and Mrs. Cooterian did place a layer of finely chopped almonds on the top. I would think choclate drizzled on top of that would also be appropriate. Thanks to you both for participating. They really are very good.
  2. Logistics and time. If...and that's a big matzo ball...if, Wow comes out this year that will be 13 years since DoD. If George still have another book to write and that takes another 13 years, he will be 88 when DoS is relased. The man needs a break at some point. But I agree, 13 years is a long time to amass a great deal of material (Volume 1 and Volume 2), or we get one big one and it ends as @Melifeather suggests with a "dream of spring".
  3. Since we don't have new material to discuss, I suppose it's okay to post the recipe (thanks BC): 2 cups all purpose flour 2/3 cup granulated sugar 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspon vanilla extract 1/4 teaspons almond extract 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into cubes coars sugar for topping (optional) Preheat the oven to 350F and line an 8x8-inch pan with parchment on the all sides. Set aside. In a food precessor, combine the flour, sugar, salt, vanilla, almond and butter. Pulse until just combined and the mixture starts to form a dough around the blades of the food processor. Pressure the dough into the prepared pan using your hands to spread the dough into an even layer. Sprinkle the tops of the bars generously with coarse sugar. Bake at 350F for 35 to 40 minutes or until just light golden brown. Take out of th oven and allow the bars to cool completely before clining the bards into your desired size. Don't forget to tell yourself...."f*** me"! Oh, and by the way...something smart the half-man said!
  4. @LynnS As it turns out, a good friend had also recommended Ted Lasso, which my wife and I completed a few weeks ago. Outstanding! Without divulging too much, my wife found a recipe for the "Ted Lasso Biscuits". Let's just say that when you taste them you will tell yourself..."f*** me. Oh...back on the subject at hand. Part of my daily routine (morning rituals) is to visit this site (specifically Heresy @Black Crow) to make sure that I'm not missing anything. I'm looking for a smart response from my keyboard, but that might be what George is asking from his. It aint there. I just wanted to check in with everyone and let you know......I miss you. So many good writers and literary critics and analysisers. I simply can't do what you guys/gals do. So here is a call out to a few that have inspried me over the years....this list is not meant to exclude anyone who has contributed. I merely wanted to mention a few in hopes that thay might say hello and check in. In no particualr order: @evita mgfs @Frey family reunion @Grey Words @Little Wing @Lummel @Toccs @wolfmaid7 The list is only a start and not intended to represent all that have contributed. It was a spur of the moment, and let me end this long post with one more call out: @Black Crow
  5. Technically speaking we are both correct, though it would have been better for me to say A Novel of Arthur....at least that is what it says on page 1 of all 3 books in addition to Warlord Chronicles. Based on IMDB it does look like Derfel is listed in the "All Cast" whereas Arthur is listed in the "Top Series Cast". As for the actors & actresses themselves, I really don't recognize many by face nor name other than Eddie Marsan who plays King Uther.
  6. Also, just saw on line today that they are getting ready to release The Winter King in August. At first I thought it was a Jon Snow sort of spin off but it's a series based on the Authurian Trilogy by Bernard Cornwall, who also authored the books that were used to create the series The Last Kingdom. It's historical fiction, but it was a pretty good read and it did have one of my favorite characters (Merlin).
  7. Exactly. Sort of like not running straight down the battle field when someone is trying to shoot you with a bow and arrow....use the zig zag pattern like they did in Apocolypto.
  8. While we continue to patiently wait....sitting around the house with the kids in town and having fun submitting topics to some sort of AI Generating tool. Plugged in my forum name, something about how old I was and what I died from. Didn't want to use my real name of course. The following Obituary is what the AI site generated. I did edit the content by shortening. Enjoy! In Loving Memory: Mace Cooterian (Year of Birth - Year of Passing) It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of the remarkable Mace Cooterian on [date]. At the age of 482, Mace's extraordinary journey came to a tragic end when he succumbed to a rare and unforeseen accident involving dragon breath. In his early years, Mace pursued a life of adventure and exploration. His insatiable curiosity led him to embark on countless quests, seeking knowledge and understanding of the world's mysteries. As a scholar, his profound insights into history, culture, and science were revered by scholars and sages alike. Mace's bravery and strength were legendary, and he was known for facing challenges head-on, fearlessly confronting formidable adversaries and protecting those in need. His encounters with dragons became the stuff of legend, as he shared a unique bond with these majestic creatures. As we bid farewell to Mace Cooterian, let us remember the wisdom he imparted, the courage he embodied, and the love he shared. May his spirit soar with the dragons he so dearly cherished, and may he find peace in realms beyond our mortal reach. "Legends never truly die; they become timeless tales, whispered in the winds of eternity."
  9. There was a period from about H58 up through H69 that I did not get to follow. So you may very well be true on the mid 60's.
  10. Thanks wm7 for this project update. I would expect weekly updates to be coming your to your "gude" on the recaps ot the topics under discussion. For those who may not have seen the Heresy Project introduction, here is a list of topics and the authors that will be orchestrating its discussion: (Father) The Wall by Capon Breath (Mother) Timelines by Mace Cooterian (Maiden) Winterfell by Black Crow (Warrior) White Walkers by Grey Words (Smith) Magic (Fire v Ice) by tyryan (Crone) Nights King by redriver (Stranger) COTF by evita mgfs For more detail on the Heresy Project please refer to Black Crow's introduction to the start of H90. While I'm not considerred an "old timer" I have been involved with Heresy since about H22. If memory serves me correct there was dicussion around the late 30's that may fit the bill; possibly into the early 40's.
  11. Additional items you might want to highlight for specific threads: H41 (& H42) - The Black Gate H51 - Ramsey Snow / The Changeling H55 (& H56) - Origins of the Weirwood Faces
