  1. The only thing is, these are minor plot holes, not gaping ones that have to be addressed. The show has 10 hours of running time per season. If you seriously expect the show to spend time talking about every single detail of Robb's war plans, and end up being disappointed, you're going to have an absolutely miserable time watching the show. Oh, and cute comment about how only "intelligent viewers" pick up on things like this. It didn't come across as arrogant or elitist at all :)
  2. " In episode 2F09 when Itchy plays Scratchy's skeleton like a xylophone, he strikes the same rib twice in succession, yet he produces two clearly different tones. I mean, what are we to believe, that this is some sort of a magic xylophone or something? Boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder."
  3. I'm assuming after Ramsay reveals himself to Theon, we're going to have this exchange: "You tricked me" "I deceived you. Tricked makes it sound like we have a playful relationship" EDIT: Just found this gem of a quote on the AV Club comments section: "The guy who cut off my hand was bearing a Roose seal!"
  4. Lol, I didn't pick up on any sexual tension between the two.
  5. Just submitted Jaime's "I'M A MONSTER!!!!! AAAAARRRGHHHH" moment to Arrested Westeros.com. You all have no idea how long I've been waiting to bust that one out.
  6. Thanks, that softened up my views on the scene. I noticed that even last season, the show was making Stannis similar to Macbeth(something which I actually liked) in his desire for the throne, and when you look at it that way, his behaviour does seem to fit in with this portrayal. But still, I like my Stannis unsmiling and rigid, not clingy and horny.
  7. It's about damn time the Leech Lord got some recognition.
  8. Wait, did Pod have sex with them or not? I thought he was too shy to do it, and just lied about it to Tyrion and Bronn.
  9. I gave it a 9. Great episode, far, far better than last week. I was surprised that Benioff did such a good job directing. I expect more episodes to be done by him in the future. Pros: -Daenerys' scene with Kraznys. Once again, the translation bit was hilarious. "Only because I like the curve of her ass" "Because Kraznys is generous" -Theon's scenes. Although I was expecting the near rape to be far more aggressive and brutal to watch, I feel this is a good way to make Theon feel emasculated without gelding him. And Ramsay being his saviour works in the long run, as it works into the whole Stockholm Syndrome Reek has. -Speaking of which, RAMSAY!!! Man, Iwan Rheon is going to own this role. I was a bit skeptical last week, but the look on his face as he strolled over to the last dying man convinced me that he's right for the part. -Good to see they're making more progress on the whole Ros storyline. LF is yet to repay Tyrion, and I have a feeling that the way he does it involves Ros -Nice foreshadowing with the Iron Bank. Better to mention it now than the future. -Locke cutting off Jaime's hand. It looked gory, and Locke is a pretty good substitute for Vargo. And I felt his reasons for cutting off Jaime's hand weren't very irrational. He just got tired of Jaime's shit. But I'm worried it came off as a bit humorous. Especially since such an upbeat song was played right after. -Roose mentioned BY NAME. -Cat and Brynden. God, Michelle Fairley is just tearing me apart. If she keeps up this high level of acting, the RW will be absolutely unbearable to watch. I would be surprised and very disappointed if she doesn't get an Emmy nom this year. -Cersei dragging her seat over to sit next to Tywin. -LF haters, "Lord Twatbeard" is your new de facto insult. I find it far better than "Lord Pissant", honestly. -Backstory on Rheagar and Robert's Rebellion. -Anyone else really liked Arya saying goodbye to Hot Pie? That was the highlight for me. It wasn't nowhere near as emotional in the books, and I thought it was a really, really nice moment. I am going to miss Hot Pie and his ballkicking ways :crying: Arya, why didn't you give him a hug? Cons: -What the hell are they doing with Stannis? I'm fine that they're making him a darker character than he is in the books, but he is NOT a lecher. He's a stick in the mud, and let's keep it that way. We are supposed to eventually root for him, and if they keep this up, it will be hard to do so. -Are we still getting the Barristan/Dany/Jorah confrontation. They really should have addressed it last week. -Pod's scene was excessive and cheesy, but hey, at least it showed Tyrion being a whoremonger once again. -Is it just me or was Brynden being a bit of a dick to Edmure? Overall, a really good episode. Oh, and for any Unsullied viewers that are thinking to themselves, "DAENERYS YOU ABSOLUTE IDIOT!", I can't wait to see your faces next week.
  10. Fair enough. Personally, I enjoyed it, and I still enjoy the show(although this episode did disappoint me). I'm interested into seeing how this attempted rape of Theon will mesh into his character development. Some of the changes in season 2 were good IMHO(mainly Theon's arc), but some were real headscratchers(Cat releasing Jaime before learning of her sons' deaths, the whole Qarth storyline). Like you, I would prefer if they stuck to the source material, but oh well, I'll take what I can get.
  11. PatrickStormborn, I remember you being one of the show's defenders last season. What made you take a 180 on your viewpoints on the show? Just wondering.
  12. If Tyrion doesn't kill Shae, I would start questioning whether to continue watching or not. Tyrion HAS TO kill Shae. He just has to.
  13. Teaser for next week's episode is up: Looks like a LOT of plot development next week. Oh, and Stannis is back!
  14. This is out of the blue, but I just saw this gem of a comment on the AV Club newbies review of tonight's episode: "I can't imagine slimy Littlefinger trying to cozy up to Sansa" ....I can't stop laughing
  15. The thing is, they could have done the same ending to 'A Man Without Honor'(the episode where Theon kills the kids), except tweak a couple of things. Catelyn frees Jaime, and either Jaime or Brienne ask her why she's doing it. Cat remains silent and walks away, clutching a letter from a raven. Cut to Theon revealing the bodies, as the viewer realizes why she did what she did. And boom. You still have the same ending. All you need to do is add a few more lines. And you don't make Cat look stupid.
  16. Oh, and one last nitpick: IT'S THE THREE EYED CROW, NOT A RAVEN. YOU HAD ONE JOB, HBO.
  17. First off, 7V3N, I love your avatar. Oscar Bluth FTW! And long live Arrested Westeros! Was anyone else disappointed by Theon's torture? Vanessa Taylor wrote Garden of Bones, which contained two torture scenes that might be the most gutwrenching moments of the show so far. I'm assuming that this episode was just a warmup for what Theon will suffer later. But I had problems with the way the scene was shot. Not once did I feel disturbed while watching it. And I should feel disturbed. David Petrarca did a much better job than Minahan at filming torture, IMO
  18. This is what I'm worried about. I have a feeling Theon's arc this season is going to confuse the hell out of a lot of viewers. BTW, if you seperate books from the show, Cat's monologue would have worked, IF it weren't for that last line. If Cat did feel guilty about the war, you would think that it had to do with arresting Tyrion or freeing Jaime, rather than not loving Jon. Unloved Jon has nothing to do with Ned's death, Sansa being a captive, or Bran and Rickon's "deaths." I'm still hoping that we get a reconciliation between Robb and Cat.
  19. 7 and I'm being generous. I'm usually one of the show fanboys, but wow, what a letdown from last week. The editing was really off this week(I think Benioff and Weiss did it themselves, and it didn't seem to mesh well at all). This was the weakest episode of the entire series, IMO(yes, even weaker than The Kingsroad). Oh, and get rid of Vanessa Taylor. I'm generally fine with invented scenes, but I felt there were far too many this week, with only a handful being similar to the books. Cons: -Theon's torture was a major letdown for me. Not because I didn't find it gruesome, but it was just shot in such a way that it felt far too corny and even borderline comical. Alfie Allen is a good actor, but his acting really bugged me this episode -Margaery/Joffrey scene was largely pointless. While they could have still left it in, they should have saved it for a later episode. -NO BARRISTAN/DAENERYS? I'm not one that's itching to see Dany each week, but the ending to last week was just begging for a resolution. -Ramsay. Not nearly creepy enough. Granted, he only had about 2 lines though, so I'll hold judgment -I'd be fine with the Cat monologue, had she not blamed the woes of the Starks on her not loving Jon. That didn't really make sense. -Swordfight was disappointing. I liked how Jaime freed himself so quickly, but the fighting was pretty clunky all around. Nothing compared to the fantastic Ned/Jaime fight from season 1. -Tyrion/Shae felt too long. Sibel Kekilli's line delivery still bothers me. It just feels too wooden, and the pair didn't have much chemistry in this particular scene. -Minor nitpicking, but the NW's march to Craster's Keep would have been far more effective if it was done at night. Pros: -Michelle Fairley absolutely killed in this episode. Wow. Yes, the monologue was confusing, but she delivered it really well -First Brienne/Jaime scene was good -Really liked Paul Kaye as Thoros -Olenna isn't completely like her character in the books, but I can understand the change, given that it would appear too similar to Maggie Smith's Downton Abbey character. -"Yeah,we left ya. You're fat and you're slow, and we didn't want to die"-Oh, Dolorous Edd, I love you so much -I liked how they showed Karstark's growing dissent, and mentioned the negative effects of Robb marrying Talisa -Yay for warging! Yay for backstory on Howland Reed and Robert's Rebellion -Liked the Reeds' introduction. Also, direwolves look great Stray observations: -What was up with Ciaran Hinds' accent this week? Is he a part of the Aidan Gillen Revolving Accents Club? -Is it just me or has Sophie Turner gained a teeny weeny bit of weight? I mean that in a good way. -Wow, the Stark kids look so much older. -Are we still getting Sam killing the WW? -Joe Dempsie has been added to the main cast. So I'm assuming he's getting a more prominent role, if he is going to take the part of Edric Storm.
  20. Would a kind spirit please provide me with a decent link to the new episode?
  21. Oh yes. That look he had on his face when he told Salla that Matthos didn't survive crushed me.

They can easily attribute it to her seeing it in her flames in the next episode. There's no evidence in the scene that Stannis lost respect for Davos. And in the books, Davos' plan to kill Mel can be seen as rash. And given that he was still possibly delirious, exhausted, and that Mel was goading him over the death of his son, his enraged reaction seems perfectly normal.
